DS Remake?

In the words of my forefathers: WOOHOO!

I decided to skip the III remake, simply 'cos it didn't look as though it was all that interesting. But IV?! That's a different matter. Time to be kicking ass with Kain again, or at least until he buggers off for a while....<_<....

This is a game I definitely intend to buy, even if it is another remake.

I'm in two minds about this. Sure it will be a great game but does it really need to be done AGAIN. The PS re-releases of I-VI (minus III), the GBA 'updated' re-releases of I-VI and the DS remake of III were a good and welcomed idea. But since then, in just a short space of time, I and II have had yet another face-lift and now IV! It all good and all, but if Nintendo were planning on releasing earlier FF's on a new console, why bother wasting time on the GBA in the first place. Remember, when your playing a new version, especially a DS remake, your not going to be playing Final Fantasy IV, you'll be playing a completely different game thats just based on the original. As far as im concerned, after the GBA versions, these old FF's shouldn't need touching.

I've just recently finished IV again, this time for GBA. I don't need another rehash, I need a new shiny game under the moniker of Final Fantasy XIII!

I love this game!FF4 and FF12 are my favorite and Cecil is rawks!I don't care how much times they remake it I'll buy every remake of FF4!

I don't know if this image is official or not, but it looks it - Rydia summoning the Mist Dragon - possibly the FMNV for when she returns to the party -

Sexy, no?

Very. It might not be from an ingame FMV. It might be part of the advertising FMV before the start menu, like FFIII.

I hope FFIV has FMVs though T_T Is it not Leviathan?

I'd like FMVs... but only if space permits. Even with the doubled capacity, the flash carts aren't huge, and I'd like FMVs to be the last priority as far as space usage goes.

from what i seen from the trailers the characters are going to be a bit cutesy

You're kinda wrong on that since the play station version of the game was more or less a port with an edited script. the GBA was a port with some extras added.

This is however called a re-release as they are using completely new graphics adding more than tewn new elements to gamplay, adding touch screen features and don't forget about them adding the 3/4 of the script they skimped off all the other versions including the orginal.

Completely new graphics look like FF3's. Cute, but nothing special. There's a reason why I have both FFIV and FFVI on the PS and GBA - because they resemble the graphics in how they look, work etc. To me it's as if I really am playing it like was when it first came out. FFIV DS isn't doing that for me, and there maybe extra script whatever, but I'm sure I'm not missing out on a lot of story. I really don't think it's worth me getting for the DS.

Well....Square hasn't said anything yet... It just came out in Japan on December 20th. Possibly FFIV might be out Summer 08 or Fall 08 for the US. A few months after the US release should be out for the UK by then.

Also there will be voice acting. ;D

So long as they get the remake done as close to the original game as possible, I'll be happy.
When they start remaking things, they translate the game again, changing original quotes.
The music changes, better quality sure, but I think Dark Cloud's music had a better feel to it in the FFIII original than the remake.
Another thing that really annoys me, certainly in the most recent final fantasy games, is that the end boss grows huge and mutated with tentacles and the like - this negates the feeling of evil you get from the character because they are now literally a monster, like any other in the game.
The main problem with all this is that people will think this is how the game goes, and won't realise there is actually an original and they're in the wrong.
Like I said, so long as it's the same game apart from the graphics and that, I'll be alright with it,

Wasn't Zeromus orginally a big tentacle monster? Although all the FFs I've played have a big monster at the end. :p

Zemus wasn't originally, no, but he turned into that weird thing and called Zeromus. However, I don't think he was a very good final boss since they only introduced him towards the end... Golbez should have been the main villain.

They do the 'oops! he wasn't the bad guy after all!' in most of the games; for example, in I, 'oops! it wasn't the fiends! It was Garland!' and in 6, 'Oops, it wasn't Gestahl, It was Kefka!'

Final Fantasy IV (DS)

I wasn't quite sure where to put this thread so if it's in the wrong board would a mod please be so kind and move it to it's rightful place. Thanks in advance.

So who's anxious about getting their hands on the remake? *raises hands*

I've been keeping up with it as much as possible and from what I have seen and the sheer buzz that surrounds it I'm getting more and more anxious the closer to release. Comes out on the 22nd for those who have been kept in the dark.

The cutscences are beautiful, and the in-game graphics are bitchin'. Final Fantasy IV happens to be yours truly' favorite Final Fantasy. It's a solid RPG.

Edward "Edge" Geraldine is my favorite. Mostly because I like ninjas. :ninja:

Of course I look forward to It. I already loved the DS version and the online Is very fun! (When people don't quit.)

A remake? I really never heard.
