Easy....?

Well, considering the baddies level up with you, the difficulty should remain pretty constant throughout the game. I thought it was somewhat easy.

Unless you were stupid and never upgraded your weapons or stocked up on powerful magic. It's not like a pushover after all.

At the beginning I was a little confused about how the junction system worked, so the first time I played FFVIII(years ago) I sucked big time and didn't even complete the game. Having replayed it I really didn't find it that hard, and the junction system ended up being rather fun because of the experimentations you could make. Stocking up a lot of spells and trying them in different attributes just to see if it would work right was really nice (but then you just end up junctioning Ultima, Meteor and Aura and everything gets a lot easier XD).

My toughest fight was against Ultima Weapon (I HATE that thing), even though I had everyone's final weapons, limit breaks, Quistis' most powerful blue magic and very high levels et cetera. Aside of that, it wasn't that hard.

No. I don't believe the game was too hard. Yes, it was difficult. Yes, it was long. However, that's what makes Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy. They are long games, and when you open them up you see three or four discs. It's great. I love how long and how much time they take. It keeps you entertained for so long. At times, you will get annoyed and not able to pass something, but as soon as you do pass it you'll love it again. That's how I was with VII. I think that the longer the game, the better the game. Generally, at least. I don't like simple games that can be beaten in a day. Also, if you decide to ever play one of the FF games again after beating it once, it will still take you a long time. We're talking about months if not years of entertainment. I love it.

I never really thought it was too challenging. It seemed as though it found a good flow, where it was hard, but never so hard as to make me bang my head on a wall in frustration. It had a depth to it with the junctioning system, which is to this day my favorite character customization system of any game. Junctioning made it so one could experiment with their characters and there was no one superior way to customize your party so it left pleanty of room for trial and error. I absolutely loved it and wish that Square Enix would allow for this depth of customization in other FF games.

Admittedly, when i first played it i had no idea what the Junction system was so i never junctioned ANYTHING and managed to get to the beginning of Disc 4 before my characters (which had around 900hp x_x) couldn't defeat Adel ... then i gave up and replayed it years later and actually discovered how the junctioning system worked and rushed through the game! It became very easy after that =P

Keeping low levels and junctioning high magic meant the game was easy =D but i did find the last boss very hard compared to other final bosses in the other FFs =/

I think it was epic hard, i got to ultimecia's castle, but skipped a lot of key items and weapons that i should have gotten. So i beat the first boss in the castle and was just like, SAVE POINT, saved it, and now i have to restart the whole game.

"It was kinda easy."

There were a few moments in the game that I struggled with first time through since I never bothered taking the time to level up but I never realy struggled with it a great deal. In my opinion the damage done by enemies compared to characters HP is much harsher in FFIX.

i thought the game was a little easy. it was easy leveling up needing only 1000exp for each level up. junctioning was interesting but wasn't too bad. and if you have time, all you had to do was kept draining magic from an oponent and you could get a lot stronger by doing that.

I thought that it was relatively easy. The few problem I ever had with it was fighting Omega Weapon :-)holyshit:) and Jumbo Cactuar's constant running away:O.

Because I love it so much, I am playing through it for the umpteenth time, using only Squall. I am dreading the likes of Jumbo Cactuar's 10,000 Needles and Ultima Weapon's cannon thing that instantly kills a character.

Invincibility is my friend!

FF VIII is neither hard nor easy. I think it's easy on the beginning. I think the hard parts of the game are battle with Ultima Weapon and Omega. The other boss are so easy to kill

I think FFVIII can be hard if you have an unbalanced party. Because Squall is always in your party, you'll have to knock him out so that he doesn't gain levels when you train other party members. As mentioned, FFVIII has the system where enemies level up along with you, so it doesn't matter what level you're on, the monsters will still be on par with you. The only thing that screws you over if the average party level is higher than an individual character's level.

FFVIII was no more difficult than any other FF game I've played. And by that, I mean all the FF games of the series are quite easy. Actually, any RPG in general is easy and doesn't involve any skill at all.

Just make sure to take the time to learn the basics about the game before getting too far into it. Such as the junctioning system, how to upgrade/equip items, knowing what the items such as potions do, how to draw and use magic, etc. And that takes a simple glance at the screen and you're set.

It was too easy for me. I play alot of ff games and this one just seems easy. It took me a week to get and complete everything w/o a guide. You just gotta have the feel for these types of games.

Personally it took me three years to beat. Then i realized I fyou master the Junction system and know your majics effects on your stats it's way easy...

I haven't beaten it yet...I have got up to disc four and am stuck.

Plus I've misplaced the game so I can't get stuck into it again...

It's kinda irritating, cos I know that I need to train up further, but I find the training up in VIII really annoying...I'll do about three fights then I'll want to carry on with the game

Me personally I believe there is no Final Fantasy that is too hard. Or hell any RPG for that matter. If you sufficiently level your characters, know the bosses weaknesses(if it has any), and know how to fight effectively you can beat any boss, and any game with no much difficulty. Sure there are hard parts and difficult parts, but as a whole no game is just "too difficult".

So I figured Id make a decent first post. I first attempted ff8 when I was like 10 years old, and it didn't go well. Couldn' beat The Brothers and gave up. So I got a copy and started it up last week, and 3 days later it was done. Not only that, but it was so easy to me. Maybe I just didn't get it before, but I never had one character die. This isnt like bragging or anything, I literally didn't notice till the end of disk 2 when I realized wow howcome I have so many pheonix downs ...

The final boss I heard horror stories about, and I breezed through it...I literally sat and waited for characters to be killed just to have a certain party, and was not once in Danger. Ultima WHOOPED me at first, then a 2nd battle I killed him very quickly.

Did I just get really lucky with junctions...or is 8 fairly easy?

on a side note, this is my first post so...hi FFF.

i'l go ahead and merge these threads, we alread y have a topic on the difficulty on FFVIII

Also, welcome :awesome:
