emerald weapon, i can die happy now

ive not yet got to stage where i can take on emerald weapon, but from reading through this thread, ive learnt many strategies for taking him on when i actually get there
 
To be honest my defeating of Emerald weapon was sheer luck. I had Cloud, Caith Sith and Cid in my team all had mine master on each so 3 mime materias. And I actually beat him without the under water materia. I of corse mastered Knights of the round and w-summon. So I could keep casting, All I done was constantly miming it, It took like 9 times of it on him, then I accidently selected Cloud to attack and my party mimed the attack but before that. Emerald had its turn and killed cloud so they continued to KOTR him. after about 11 lots of it, I did highwind and magic box and killed him with 6 minutes to spare. I don't think this will help you, I'm just saying how it worked for me.
 
Good job dude. :) Emerald is a total Pain in the ass. I can't remember what Materia I used though....I think I had long range on everyone but barret, and had everyone in the back row. (It's useful. It halves all his physical attacks!) As well as pheonix materia paired up with final attack. That's part of it. I can't remember everything, but Emerald is hard. Nice job beating him. :)
 
congrats on finally beating emerald weapon, It always brings me back to first time I beat him when I was litterally pouring with sweat when I finally finished the fight...congrats again and good luck to those of you that are still working towards this goal!

Its an achievement to be proud of!

My personal favorite way is final attack phoenix.
I never beat him the way you did though.
 
Wow dude nicely done!! First time i Fought the weapons was a long time ago i only got a pc cop and my comp wont play it cause it's to smart for the copy figure how that works? :S
 
i tried so many times to beat him but in the end i just gave up. I didnt have the patience to master the materia. Kinda pisses me off a little cuz hes the only sub-boss in an ff game i couldnt beat
 
Have still yet to beat him. I can't find my PS1 memory card anywhere and it's pissin' me off.

I bet Rudy a few years back but Emerald I think is way harder. I've gotten very close a few times, but that's when he just drops a load on you and attacks every 2 seconds, sometimes 8 in a row... :/
 
I have to admit I was a bastard going into this fight. I started the fight with Lucky 7's and just brought the house with overdrives. My guys are almost at max stats because I kept collecting tabs but I've never tried to beat him in a "fair" fight.
 
WOW I finally beat Emerald Weapon

I just beat him tonight! and i didnt even use KOTR, MIMIC, OR OMNISLASH! AND at level 77!

basically what i did was equip two guys with only 2 materia (HP plus master on both, one with the underwater materia, and the other with 4-cut.)

other guy had two HP PLUS and Enemy skill so i could have him cast Big Guard!

but i used atleast 60 megalexers,

what i did was keep hittin him with limit breaks, and kept my health full at all times until he casted that air etaim or whatever the hell its called so because i only had two guys equiped with only 2 materias the damage was 2222 that got me the lucky 7s and i was hittin him for like 10 mins straight, then i just kept hittin him and he finally died! oh man that took me like 7 years to beat this bastard im so happy!:holyshit::holyshit::holyshit:
 
That's pretty good going! which two did you use? I was happy to do it with KOTR and mime! I think it took me a similar time, but that's just cos i was too lazy to get stuff leveled up!

I beat Eemrald for the second time recently, but this time I was lazy and used the KOTR & mime trick :wacky:

Oh and this time I knew how to beat that aire tam bollocks >_>
 
Actually no, I use my three cloud, cid, barret and theyre level 4 limit breaks with mime thats the best way of destroying him unless........ You have killed 255 000 monsters with vincent and give him one shot with the death penalty. A one shot kill jaja thats hard to do but it is possible since the damage is the monsters you kill with vincent it says 9999 but emerald dies in one shot.

I have beaten it many times but the best was with the death penalty in one shot. Its hard to do because you have to kill so many monsters with vincent, it takes a hell of along time but its possible i put the video in youtube 100 hours of killing with vincent that's what it takes.

I used KOTR, mime, and final attack junctioned to a mastered phoenix. And omnislash of course. I could almost put a weight on the "x" button, leave, and come back later with him defeated x.x'.

That seems like a lot of faff! but would be pretty cool to do. but did you have to keep track of all the enemies you killed with vincent? like a tally chart? :P Probably take just as long as the actual killing! I think il take a look on youtube and see if it would ever be worth that!
