Enix, FF's doom?

The games sure have changed since Square Enix took over. The recent games just don't feel like Final Fantasy. But that doesn't mean that they are bad or anything. However, there are a few things we could do with out, such as pop music from X2.

exactly what i wanted(or well, didn't want) to hear,

but it answers my question

Yes we sure can but then again i like the fact that they are at least implementing something we here almost everyday. But c'mon when's the last time you heard a Enix Designin and FF and Vice Versa. I don't think they've really collaberated yet besides the fusion of the companies.

Going by personal preference, no, the Enix merger was not the downfall of Final Fantasy. That's mostly because I really like XII. It doesn't feel like any of the other Final Fantasy's it's true, to me it feels more like a spiritual successor to Vagrant Story which I'm glad of, since I still rank that higher than all bar one of the Final Fantasy series. If you'd have asked me around the time of Crystal Chronicles and X-2 I may have answered differently, but XII has more than made up for them, and Revenant Wings looks pretty cool as well.

the real point was that Pop music does not suit an FF...
(if that's what you were replying to)

I agree with that indeed. I mean it all depends on perception. But IMO i think Square is influencing some Enix games. Like in Radiata Stories I swear there was a Cloud look-a-like xD.

new style = new costumers = more costumers = more money

ya?
I do not see the correlation. Please elaborate if you could.

Anyways, a lot of people here are really split here on FFXII. Some people think its the greatest FF yet and others hate it. And thats not just this board. This is the a global thing. Famitsu, the premier of all game magazines really, gave it straight 10's. Other magazines have really harped on it. So you can't say that this makes them a bad company. This assumption is based primarily on taste.

Also, Final Fantasy has always been a franchise full of change. Not every FF game is the same so I dont think you can say that the last few FF iterations have been effected by the merge. If anything, the major changes brought about in the last FF's were because of either:

A) A new target audience (FFXI)
B) A real sequel (FFX2)
C) A new direction and design (FFXII)
D) New technology (FFXIII)

Finally, Enix is an awesome developer. Star Ocean, Dragon Quest, maybe Shadow Hearts(dont know on this one).
Look at some bad games Square has made in its time. There are some real stinkers in their history.

All in all, it was definitely for the best they merged.

Shadow hearts wasn't Enix, Aruze did it if I remember. Still, at least the merger meant that Europe finally got a console Dragon Quest game and Star Ocean: TTEOT, both of which were awesome. Like you said, Enix bring a lot of quality to the table which many seem to forget. And since the head honchos originally behind XII ( i.e. Matsuno et al ) were from the Square side of things it seems unfair to lay blame of the matter at Enix's door.

Exactly. I think people have just been playing to much of the PS FFs to really see that the change is actually good. I wouldn't mind seeing what Soem Enix guyz could do with the series of FF to tell the Truth.

I think that the games are still good. I mean i loved final fantasy 10 and i don't see why some final fantasy fans do not. It has a great story line, it has loads of mini games, the battle system is great and the sphere grid allowed characters to become super powerful with the right amount of training of course :) Although none of them have never been as good as final fantasy 7. It would be more than a challange for any game developer to create a better game than that.

We are talking about after Square merged with Enix. FFX is a Square game.
