Escape!

I usually escape if I'm facing a Malboro. I just can't fight that creature!
Sometimes if I'm eager to reach my goal I escape every battle to get there faster. And when my HP is low (obviousely).
 
Depends how im feeling.
If i'm in a rush to get somewhere i run all the time. If not every little helps right? ;)
 
Typically I make a habit of not running away from enemies. Most Final Fantasy games have a pretty even leveling curve, so if you don't run away from too many battles, you're almost always where you need to be level-wise. The only time I ever run from battle is when there is a series of annoying enemies in an area. For FFVII, it was the Temple of the Ancients. For FFIX, it was Ipsen's Castle. Every game seems to have one location where the enemies aren't hard... they're just annoying. So I run from them.
 
I only escape if 1) I know that the monsters are too powerful, 2) there's little experience to be gained from the fight or 3) I'm in a hurry to accomplish something else and this meaningless fight is irritating me.

I tend not to like escaping from battles because there's never anything to LOSE from battles but there's always much to gain.
 
In the older games I-VI i ran all the time, it just seemed that u got into a battle every 2 or 3 squares. which is very annoying when your trying to get that treasure chest.(which turns out to me a mimic)
The others i pretty much fought although i got into the habit of using ' flee ' in IX and X
 
i run when there is nothing but weak monsters in the area or i am trying to get somewhere
but normally this lands be in hot water later on in the game
 
I only really escape from battles on 2 certain occasions:

1. Trying to get to a place on the World Map as fast as possible
2. I'm trying to face an upcoming boss battle and I don't want to waste my current HP on enemies leading up to the Boss.

I think I did this mainly in FFXII when I was traveling areas and my Gambits were on. I would be running with Vaan who was leading my party and in the back, Balthier would be trying to fight a 5-legged Pigeon on steroids by himself. So, would just run across the map holding in the Escape button (R2?), in order to get places faster.
 
I usually run from battles that are impossible to win when on very low level or when I am on a totally rush for getting somewhere ASAP.

But its annoying when some monsters are always popping up out of nowhere each 10 steps, that happens all the time on the classic titles. I'm always a fan of No Encouinters Accessory/Skill/Item etc... they come pretty handy on annoying dungeons full of traps or quests.
 
If it were up to me, I'd flee like all hell, but Mom is always like "No! You're gonna lose your gil if you do that! Just fight the fucking monster". Then I get killed by the monster and she's all like "I told you to flee! What the fuck are you doing man?" So yeah, I don't get to do it often. Honestly I forget about it sometimes. I have my mind set on my next move, so I just automatically go to that thing without even stopping to look at anything else. >_>
