I don't know if you'd count them as rpg's the same way as the series listed above but I'd probably say the Super Robot Wars games are mine at the moment. The somewhat lengthly nature of levelling up teams in strategy rpg's is made much less excrutiating by the OTT attack animations and the fact that you can be playing as some of your favourite mecha-anime series' characters.

Being in Europe, I've been somewhat deprived of many a good rpg, but from my limited experience of the ones above; I'd probably go for Shin Megami Tensei, having been playing through Lucifers' Call/Nocturne and Devil Summoner 3 on and off for over a year now. Oh, and Disgaea certainly deserves a mention.

From the list, I've only played one Tales game - Tales of Symphonia, but I wouldn't class it as my favourite.

I guess...Pokémon then, since I've been collecting the games for over ten years now, and I enjoyed each one xD

Actually, your sig/avatar set just reminded me of Golden Sun. Might've only been two games but they were a barrel of fun, astoundingly good for portable games if you ask me. Just a shame I could never beat the last boss of the second one, or get the best summon, damn Djinn's never showing on the world map.

Besides Square Enix Games it was close between Golden Sun and Fire Emblem, but FE won out in the end... I love those games, they rock so much!

EDIT: I didnt even consider, but POKEMON!
DAMN IT! I wish I had of chosen that now... stupid other...
Although FE does rock, Pokemon is better IMO

I could go on about how much legendia sucks at the same pace that VR could go on about Kingdom Hearts for aaaaaaaages.

That game must be a horrible pile of fail then :wacky:

I've uh...never played a single Tales game. Whoops?

I voted "other" on the poll because Pokemon wasn't on there. It's really the only RPG series I've steadily kept up with. Tbqh most of the RPGs I play are Square, I have Persona 3 and Odin Sphere and thats it for non-SE games.

Ah, I'm not sure what to classify Devil May Cry as.

DMC1 and 2 was pretty much just action, but DMC3 felt kind of like an Action-RPG, since there was a storyline and such, but I really don't know >__<

lolwuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut? :wacky:

RPG have much more involved storylines that typically last 30 to 40 hours, and things like leveling up, turn-based battles, etc. The DMC games are so far from being RPGs.

Of the non RPGs I've played there's:

Golden Sun, which is my favorite handheld RPG along with Pokemon. Fire Emblem was also very good, but I've never completed a Fire Emblem game.

Tales of Symphonia was also very entertaining and I've also played Tales of Phantasia, but I haven't gotten very far.

The first Xenosaga was great, in my opinion (KOS-MOS ftw!), but there was just something I didn't like about the second one....

Arc the Lad: Twilight of Darkness (I think that was the title) was somewhat mediocre. And Star Ocean3 was OK.

My favorite non-SE RPG, though is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

Currently replaying through suikoden 2 after re-beating suikoden 1 so I could unlock Mcdohl in suikoden 2.

I'm just dying to see the soul eater in suikoden 2 :wacky:

I just realised a great series I neglected to mention, Mother.

Mother 2 is Earthbound, by way. It's humorous and fun, with a greatr system. Plus Mother 3 is fun even in japanese. D: Just wish they's release it here though.

Aww, Earthbound! That brings back memories. That was the first emulator game I ever played, it's a classic.

I honestly think that Legend of Dragoon was the second best RPG ever made, and i have been looking for a copy of it for about a month and a half now, as i want to re-play it and complete it as i never managed to before my brother broke the disc

That game must be a horrible pile of fail then :wacky:

You would just... not believe unless you played and actually got the least bit engrossed.

I mean, it'd have been acceptable if they released it before releasing their mothership titles Tales of Symphonia and Tales of the Abyss. Both games had their quirks, but they blew Tales of Legendia out of the fucking water. :wacky:

but ffs, the cast of characters pissed me off almost as much as the battle system did. It was utter shite. Especially Norma and Jay. They suck tbqh

the worst aspects of the game imho

Ugh, don't get me started on that little fucker Jay :ffs: He pissed me off so much, especially when he kept going "Why don't you die already!?" to Moses, who happens to be the only good (and personal favorite) character in the game. But despite the games major suckage, there were actually a few good music tracks. Not enough to sit through the shitty game though...ugh, why did I waste $40 on that mess :ffs:

My choice is likely not one of the most popular ones here, but in my vote for "other", my favourite RPG other than ones made by Square Enix, is...

Want to take a guess?

It is...not really worth this much drama...

But you've got to admit this is fun...

The answer...comes from the left side of my sig. :P In case there is one or two people that don't know what it is, it is my favourite Pokémon, Charizard, a creature which has fire at the end of his tail, just like Red XIII.

I am stuck between choosing either Wild Arms, Shin Megami Tensei or The Shadow Hearts Series.

In the end Shadow Hearts does it for me. They are pretty dark, and unknown games, to most people. The third was a big disappointment as they messed up the whole dark feeling from the previous two. And made it too childish.

I think Shadow Hearts has everything a good and solid Rpg should have. A good story, interesting subjects, solid and awesome characters. They also bring up pretty interesting things. Like one of your characters is actually homosexual. Never played a game with a homosexual party-member in it. *smiles*

In the end, its the one I laughed the most in, and enjoyed the gameplay through the entire game. (Without getting bored)
