I know I have spoken to quite a bit of you folks on either Skype, What's App, Viber or even facebook messenger. I write this to ask, what is your favorite application and why? I personally overuse what's app for overseas (Brazilian friends and Chennai India work stuff) and I use face book messenger for everything else. It's convenient because that's how many family checked to see what I was up to or what events were going on in my area.

WhatsApp has to be the best one out there for me. I think it's user friendly and I love the fact that it doesn't cost you a fortune to text people overseas.

Definitely WhatsApp. It lacks the bells and whistles of plenty of other alternatives, but it's so simple to use that even my relatively tech illiterate older relatives can comprehend how it works without (many) mishap(s). It's also so widely used across the world already, besides maybe the USA where it's more the domain of Facebook Messenger and iMessage.

I use Whatsapp a lot to communicate with my family overseas. It also comes in handy when I travel to keep in touch with people. I find it more reliable than some other apps.

For local communication, I mainly use Facebook Messenger.

Definitely Whatsapp for me. I really don't care for Skype's interface for chatting. Or anything else really. I just don't like Skype.

I wish there were more partnership's out there for companies. I remember there was Trillian which basically allowed you to have a multi-communication outlet. I think this was really a good idea due to it allowed you to keep everything centered. ICQ/AIM/Messenger all in one type application. Now granted due to the fact that all communication were from different venues, the customization was pretty low.

Though instead we have applications like Skype, which in my mind are horrendous for communication. I don't mind face book messenger, but I don't like social media overall due to the evolution in it. Due to most people inherited the messenger app due to Facebook, there is still a lot of disconnect for those that no longer want to use face book at all.

I use WhatsApp for mostly overseas and for quick dialogs. If anything beyond that, I usually pick up the phone and call them via WhatsApp. So I think overall, they have done well to make this a globalized application overall. Now if countries still try to ban it, like Brazil did "for a day" then I think it will be hard to use these types of data covered application(s).

Rank:

1) Facebook Messenger
2) WhatsApp
3) Viber (only due to a few selected people still keep using it)

Whatsapp. I really should connect more with family overseas.

I don't use Facebook messenger so if I do get messages, I have to hop on the PC and check that way.

And I don't even have Skype installed anymore.

I'm old and just use iMessage, haha. WHATEVER.

Facebook Messenger is way too bloated at this point. Why is it even a separate app to Facebook anyway? Pffft.

I use iMessage and Whatsapp the most
I have almost every group on whatsapp muted though :8F: including my brothers and father since all they do is spam me with useless forwarded messages lmao

For me it is Facebook Messenger, I used to use what's app for my daughter but her phone got bust so now I just the regular text for her or my partner. Maybe I need to make more friends .....

Probably Facebook Messenger since most of my college friends and friends of friends are on that so group messaging is easier there on a shared platform. Other than that I also use WhatsApp and Snapchat where there's a few other group chats that get crazy too from time to time :lew: Personally though it's all much of a muchness to me and I'm not too invested in any method of communication beyond face to face conversation.
