The reason I did Square/Enix opposed to Square-Enix is to not limit our selection.

So which is it guys and girls? Choose one game least the reason why you choose this game and maybe post the box art/ screen shoot of the actual game. Some of you might not have been born yet ^^.

My game?

Xenogears

Reasons I love this game:

The story:
Fei Fong Wong, an eighteen-year-old male who was mysteriously brought to his current home, Lahan, by a "masked man" three years prior.Because of the events surrounding his arrival at the village, Fei has no conscious memories of his childhood; the rediscovery of past events, both pleasant and traumatic, prevails throughout the game.
Fei encounters Elly for the first time

After a Gear attack on the peaceful village of Lahan, Fei jumps into an empty Gear and manages to fight off the enemy attacks. However, in doing so, he accidentally destroys the entire village. As a result, Fei and Citan, the village doctor, decide to leave with the Gear in an attempt to get it as far away as possible from the village. And thus the story starts.

Music (composed by Yasunori Mitsuda) and the battling system which has a Chrono Trigger feel to it.

Great topic and...your my new best friend. XD

My favorite outside of the aforementioned...is Xenogears. The story, the characters are far and beyond any Final Fantasy, or any other game I've played PERIOD. Any RPG fan owes it to themselves to find and get this game. Sadly, its become more rare and thus more expensive. I managed to get it a few years ago though and despite playing many 'new' games with the awesome graphics, Xenogears is still far and above on my list as best game period, even outside of the RPG genre.

I should also say that Yasunori Mitsuda is one of the great Japanese composers along with Nobuo Uematsu and Motoi Sakuraba, who has done all of the Star Ocean's along with many other projects.

I thoroughly enjoyed Dragon Quest VIII. It doesn't offer much in terms of innovation, but I have no problem playing an RPG that goes with what's proven to work. It's old-school. Everything is straightforward. Upgrading abilities, equipping items, customization, etc...it's all easy to do. The protagonist's inability to speak makes him dull, but the other characters are full of life, as is the world you explore.

I mostly loved slime hunting for hours on end. An average boss with a boat load of HP: 10,000 exp...maybe. A King Metal Slime that can be found in the wilderness that has only a small handful of HP: over 30,000 exp. Nifty!

I'm going to say Xenogears, definitely. Oh, where to start with this game...

It's starts out so basic, the amnesiac hero and his destroyed home town, and evolves into this massively epic thing that I don't even know how to describe. So many links to religion and psychology. The most well-developed universe and history I've ever seen in a video game. The most complex plot that actually makes sense I've ever seen in a video game. An awesome cast of characters. And unlike its successors, Xenosaga, the gameplay is very fun, too.

I've never managed to play it a second time, though, because it is so long. The main storyline, no sidequesting or anything, is around 80 hours. I'll get around to it someday, though.

I am really waiting for Xenogears to hit the PSN so that I can play it again. I really don't want to fish for all these older PSX games that are really priced high.

Chrono Trigger, I think anyone who played the game would most likely agree, I can't actually think of anything about this game I disliked. It was a fantastic game and I'd happily see another Chrono title if it kept the same level of quality.

I'm going to with The Last Remnant as well, I haven't played enough of it to give a full on reason but from what I have played it is shaping up to be a nice game, had there been less technical problems, it would have been superb. Finally, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, simple brillant game, the best title SE have released this gen outside of Final Fantasy.

Persona 4 ... duh lol!

Why I love it? Whats there not to love?! Its a JRPG/dating sim. And man is it addictive. The story and characters make this game perfect, its like you are playing a demonic sopa opera. Its just amazing. The music is so upbeat and makes you smile and you have to sing along to it. Truly one of my favourite games of all time as there is always something new to discover and someone new to date each time you play lol :D

As mentioned, Last Remnant is a fun addictive game with a nice battle system. I hate the fact the King is called David ... doesnt seem as wow for a ruler in an RPG lol. Rush is a great lead character and I adore his smile, he is such an emotional character.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope Im kinda 50/50 with. Its a brilliant battle system, even though I hate real time. The characters are also 50/50, some are fun, others are so damn annoying. Im taking my time with this game as its meant to be the last SO.

Chrono Cross.

I clubbed myself over the head when I broke the first disc and lost the second. It was like a ray of light in my miserable life when I bought again. I just love the fact that you have 30+ characters, I love the story, and I love Kid. She'll kick your arse to the moon.

Xenogears confuses me everytime I try to play it. I like Xenosaga though and they're related somehow, aren't they

That was the same thing I was gonna say.Not much I can really say about the game that has not been said already the Chrono Trigger for the DS was just amazing and the fact that I can now play this awesome game on the road was even better. The story was amazing and the tech ablities was just amazing also by that i mean the tri and double techs.

Ill say Star Ocean TLH because I really loved the brilliant game. The characters are well done but yes some can be annoying but that does not et to me. The battle system is just like the other Star Ocean's. My favorite character is Myuria. No not because of her gigantic boobs! I like her because She is a mage with a really heartbroken story. I use her in my party and her voice suits her well. To me Myuria Tionysus is a great character that never ivs up on her goals to the end. I also like Reimi and all the others. Each character has there own way of awesomeness >_>

Xenogears was just epic. The story, although it came in VERY late, was extremely entertaining and fun. The gameplay was just epic and the battle system was awesome. The fact that you could pilot gears, which were practically super robts was also great, as I am a fan of super robots :3. Also, the character development was great and they were all unique.

Definitely Chrono Trigger. Great storyline, great cast, great gameplay, and the design is simply stunning taking the game's age into consideration. If only Squaresoft had put as much work into FF VI's graphics as they did with Chrono Trigger. Almost 15 years down the line Chrono Trigger still looks great whereas FF VI just looks incredibly old.

Super Mario RPG.

Hands down. Best game I've ever played. ((Bring back Square! D: ))

chrono cross. it stems from bias from not having played chrono trigger, but i'd be hard-pressed to find another game that gives the kind of atmosphere cross does. it's my favorite psX era game.

Chrono Cross, definitely!
Tmoo pretty much just said it, there is something in CC's atmosphere that I simply cant find in any other game...
Ive always been in debate with myself in trying to establish whether Trigger or Cross was better...
Both kinda balance each other out in some aspects... but I have to go with Cross, because it has a superior soundtrack and a much deeper storyline.

Seriously... as if the game wasnt awesome enough, it also has what is considered to be one of the best soundtracks in video game history -- and for very good reason I must say.

I've not really played many games outside Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, but I've been enjoying Star Ocean : The Last Hope, so I guess that would be my favourite game so far.

I truly disliked the DBZ-esque art style. I hate to say it but I did. I forced myself to deal with it though and I'm glad I did because it is an otherwise fantastic game. I loved the story, the music, the characters, the battle system, etc. I actually found an import of the original soundtrack in mint condition for $15 at my local bookstore. :yay:

My favorite Square game would definitely be Xenogears though. I absolutely loved this game. The story was excellent, it had great characters and I loved the battle system. The soundtrack was great too. I also felt challenged when I played the game which is a rarity nowadays. It also had decent sidequests; I particularly enjoyed the card game, in which I defeated every opponent possible aside from Big Joe (bastard). And now after talking about it, I kind of want to play it again. xD

The Bouncer.

Reasons Why:
The story is short, but excellent. You really get to know all three characters as you play the game, and the information about their backgrounds helps answer questions that you might have had about them. The game has high reply value, too! :D

I didn't want to get into the story for spoiler purposes, but if you want to know/it's okay for me to post information about then I'd be happy too. :)

Now that's a game you don't often hear people mention these days! I remember that it got a lot of flak when it first came out, but I don't think it really deserved it. It might have been a bit short, but the replay value was great because you saw the story from a different point of view, depending on which character you picked for each scenario.

The only complaint I really have about this game is that it seriously needed a proper multiplayer mode so that you could play through the storyline with a friend. Why Square didn't include this is beyond me. Especially when the storyline was so short that you could play through it in just a couple of hours.

I always liked the Star Ocean series. The first two games were the best. I liked 3 & 4 too.
Super Mario RPG was amazing. I love the fact that the gameplay was pretty much identical to the FF series. It was really different for being a Mario game.
The Last Remnant for the 360 is a pretty good one too. I like how the gameplay always keep me busy trying to strike critical at any given moment.
