Favorite Square/Enix game outside of FF and KH series

Lol, a Square-Enix game that isn't Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts? That's a dozey. I can attest from just a glance that at least 80% of my Square-Enix games either have FF or KH in the title xD

But let's see...I loved Chrono Trigger a whole bunch. Wasn't too happy with it's somewhat sequel Chrono Cross though :hmmm:

Star Ocean 3 was pretty fun and from the little I've played of First Departure, it seems kewl too. I still need to pick up Second Story when I get a chance, and I'm looking forward to Last Hope (International) ^^

I also really enjoyed Musashi: the Legendary Swordsman as well. I can admit it wasn't an in-depth game, but it was fun to play =D

EDIT: Omg, I totally forgot about The World Ends With You! I love that game! The battle system was really kewl. The characters were kind of cliche but I didn't hate that, and the story was really interesting ^^

My favorite Square Enix game would have to be Radiata Stories. Now I know its really a kiddish ( is that even a word?) game, but i like the story line, and the chance that you have to choice to choose your ending. Plus, i spent a lot of time kicking anything and everythink :)

My favorite would have to be Valkyrie Profile. I really LOVE that game. I really enjoyed playing it. The storyline was awesome and the characters were pretty colorful(especially Lezard.o_O) I've played that game so much I almost broke it.XD
I really liked the sequel too, just not as much as the first one.

Oh yeah! And Threads Of Fate. How can I forget that? It would be nice if Square made a Threads Of Fate 2.X3

Chrono Cross.
Xenosaga though and they're related somehow, aren't they

The character Abel that pilots that boss mech (don't remember the name) in the third game looks like a younger version of the Xenogears main character, Fei Fong Wong.

I'l say Xenogears as well. Probably one of the rarest games I've ever seen. Luckily as a child I had the pleasure of playing this amazing gem. The battle system is by far my favorite in any game so far, and the story was just so epic.

Xenogears!

I love the deep story the game shows off. The characters are just really well written and the atmosphere of the game just gets darker and darker as the narrative progresses. I really loved the combat system especially after you get the ability to chain some sick combos together.

Chrono Trigger. This game is my childhood. But other than that, I just love the story. I loved traveling through time and meeting all the characters and learning their stories, and I liked being able to alter events in the timeline. And the battle system was quite fun with all the link attacks. I also love how there are multiple endings so the game is very replayable.

Persona 4 ... duh lol!

That's funny. At first I was like "wait what?", then I remember that it was published in Europe by SE. You got me there.

On topic, can I say Persona 4 then even if I have the US version? If not then honorable mentions go out to Parasite Eve, Chrono Trigger, and Brave Fencer Mushashi with my favorite being Parasite Eve. Such an interesting blend between RE and a RPG and it is a pretty underrated game. I rarely hear people talk about it.

Chrono Trigger. The ability to just go to the end, I thought was very clever. The story line rocked, the characters were awesome and the whole traveling through time thing was OFF THE CHAIN!

Chrono Trigger or Dragon Quest

Dragon Quest...:hmmm: which installment was it....the one where the king turns into a frog... best localisation work in any game ive ever played in my life!!

I'll have to admit that I did highly enjoy playing Infinite Undiscovery which is definatley a pretty reasonable alternative to the FF series, strong characters and a semi-decent plot.

Other than that I'll have to go with Xenogears, it's still very much an Iconic series and one of the most enjoyable RP experiences I've had outside of the FF series.

Specifically Square Enix? Or when they were better known as Square Soft? I prefer the latter, anyway >.>

Chrono Cross, bar none.

Dragon Quest VIII. No doubt in my mind. Second place? Probably Chrono Trigger.

[Mod Edit: Could you explain why these games might be your favourite? This sort of post in a post count section is classed as spam and it could easily be elaborated on. Please consider this next time before posting in post count sections. Thanks. =)]

Star Ocean! <3

I like the whole Star Ocean series, but my favorite is Second Story. Sure, the characters and story are pretty weak and flat, but it's so much fun. I love the battle system, it's a nice change from the usual turn-based RPGs. Recruiting different sets of characters and getting varying Private Actions/endings as a result is neat, too. :3

ummm i havent really played many outside of the FF series but im gonna have to go with Last Remnant. It was only 20 bucks so i bought it. I like it cause its battle structure is alot different from the FF Series. Although i didnt get a fair way through because a week later i got it FFXIII came out. I also played a little of Infinate Undiscovery (i think thats wat it was called) but i really couldnt get into it so i handed it back in.

Finally, a chance to post what perhaps may be a forgotten game (even though it was created in '04)

Game: Star Ocean: Till the End of Time

Reason: Perhaps the only SE game I played aside FF and KH. But I have ALWAYS loved anything to do with astronomy, and I was amazed when I saw the intro of the game. As you would have guessed, it's sci-fi.

(How do I post a video from Youtube, and not just a link? +Rep to best answer, thanks in advance!)

The story revolves a normal guy named Fayt Leingod (who is somewhat hated by SE fanbase because he's not like Cloud or other "un-normal" characters) who spends his vacation time with his parents and his childhood friend. I don't want to tell you what happens next, but it's kinda surprising at the first playthrough.

I won't spoil you with the story, but Fayt's character can be frank yet understanding. He doesn't go to extremes. He just calls it like he sees it, and that's what I like about him. Some fans might hate him because, well, most of us can see ourselves in him. And to some, it's not a good thing (which I don't understand).

Excellent music (composed by Motoi Sakuraba), okay plot twists, fantastic battle system, and cool bonus dungeons playable only after passing the game!

Anyway, enjoy the screenies! Just a few, lest I don't leave you hungry for more.

I really liked Star Ocean 3 too, though my favorite character was Albel and I didn't really feel like they used him to his full potential :/

For my favorite though, if this can include pre-merger when it was just Square, I'd say it's a three-way tie between Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, and Secret of Evermore. All three had amazing stories, beautiful graphics considering the platform, and wonderful soundtracks that I still listen to all the time.

I love star ocean games .....they put alot of mini games/tasks in them and I love those things same goes for Radiata stories....I like a nice "kiddy" game now and again;)

Dragon Quest games I grew up waching dragon ball so it gives me a nateral like for it...pluss all arround the games are fun and interesting to play.Chrono Trigger for the same reason
