Favourite Characters!

Hey guys i'm a computer game artist to be, i am in my second year of a degree in computer game design and am half way thru writing a dissertation and i need help!

i just need to know which are your favourite playable characters (preferrably main characters) and more importantly WHY! why do you find these characters interesting, what makes you create a relationship with them!? the storyline? thier looks? abilities? thier animation?

oh ok.
mine is always Tifa.
the reasons are:
she's a girl,i'm a girl too,and i admire her very much cause although she's a girl, she's independent,she fights and she's strong.
also i think she's pretty and she's a very kind and nice person,that takes care of everyone she loves.
i wish i could be just like her.

Squall - tough, determined hero
Cid - he's overall a badass
Vincent - a werewolf, monster and vampire and human in 1... self explanatory
