Just like the title says what is your favourite Final fantasy job/class/profession/whatever they're calling it this time.

For me its the red mage. Nothing beats that pimping hat and the ability to slice, heal and burn.

Hmm, a tough one for me. I'm not 100% sure which abilities belong to each class. I love buffs, specifically haste, and I like the slow debuff too. So I'd say time mage, but then at the same time I like my characters to be strong. Tidus was a good mix: high agility, part time mage, but also part warrior. I chose Time mage anyway, because I think I value haste too much to choose warrior since that's so generic.

I'm going a bit predictable here, maybe. I chose black mage 'cause I loooove aiming at weaknesses (here's looking away from FF14). Being able to boost your damage so much when you melt ice with your flames, or shock some watery enemy :ohoho:. Vivi goes even better in FF9 too by being able to focus over and over and go for broke at the end of it all :lew:.

Having said this, I hate mage only parts in games. Having to rely completely on MP and not being able to get some quick regular attack kills in is really tedious.

I would happily choose any of the magic classes. You can swing a sword or an axe around as much as you want while looking majestic, but I'll always be a fan of causing rampant devastation with destructive magic spells, or receiving a critical moment of succour with a healing spell.

I think in general, I love White Mage. If I were an actual RPG character, I'd be the healer. I'd be the one getting your lazy arse off the floor while prodding you in the butt with the end of my cane. I have the arsenal of buffs such as Protect, Shell and Esuna, as well as the occasional blasts of Holy when push comes to shove. Try doing a dungeon without a White Mage in an average Final Fantasy game. You'll likely be wrecked, or close enough to being wrecked that your instinct tells you to sacrifice the Bard or Dragoon first next time to appease your foes.

Though in FFXIV, I prefer Scholar over White Mage. Granted, I have far, far more experience with the former than the latter, but despite the lower potency of raw healing power when it comes to each individual spell, it's awesome to have the fairy there as the crutch to fall on in times of greater urgency. Having to pro-actively seek to mitigate damage and to quickly deal with the ensuing fallout after a large group-wide attack form the crux of what makes being a Scholar enjoyable in an online-FF format. I'm just not sure how Scholar is utilised in offline titles (haven't played Tactics). I think FF3 had a Scholar, but I think that's essentially a Red Mage.

I don't have a single favorite class/job as a rule. In terms of preference, I prefer ones with the biggest scythes or biggest axes, and biggest armor. Berserker, Warrior, Dark Knight.
