Because I've read the entire manual for Final Fantasy Tactics, gone through all the tutorials and tips, and I still can't beat the 3rd mission called Mandalia Plains. I've looked at a walkthrough and tried several times, but every time I screw up somewhere. I've asked around and nobody has cited this mission as being a particularly "hard" one of the bunch. So, as far as I'm concerned, the game itself is far too hard for my tastes.

If Final Fantasy 12 is on par with Tactics in terms of difficulty, or worse, then I want to know so that I don't waste my time with that title.

FFXII is easy, once you get adjusted to the battle system. Considerably easier than any of the Tactics games, in fact. About the only thing you'll struggle with in XII is the Marks/Elite Marks, depending on your level. I didn't find the story particularly challenging, but was absolutely decimated in a couple of the sidequests...

For that area, I assume it's when you're saving Argath?

If so i'd strongly reccmend you take a Chemist with you and keep them at the front to heal Argath. That aside, take in Squires/knights nd maybe a black mage to even up the odds.

Mandalia Plains is the easiest battle of them all! Just be tactical! You have to use the Holy spell but then again FFtactic had that majore cheat that let others master abilities without working for it so.......BUt still! It was easy for me!

Mandalia plains is the 3rd battle. As in, the one that comes after the 2nd (kill thieves in town) and 1st (control only Ramza). I don't think you can get the holy spell at that point. I can't even get black/white mages yet.

good luck mate, i'm taking a break from tactics...too used to the flow of the Disgaea/Fire Emblem games (am actually playing Jeanne D'arc atm).

I have the game collecting dust. I got it years ago when I was obsessed with FFVII. Still glad I have it though if I ever get off my ass and play it.

No, I've never really played Tactics in any depth but if FFT:War of The Lions is anything to go by, which I presume it is then FFXII doesn't have a patch on it. To me FFXII wasn't difficult in the slightest other than the Elder Wyrm which I was under levelled so a bit of level grinding and I was sorted for the rest of the game. The most difficult part of FFXII was getting your head around how boring the battle system was. :sad3:

Believe me when I say that FF12 is easy. I'm a relatively amateurish gamer and I finished the game with ease, that being said, I spent many hours leveling up (not because I found the bosses hard, but because I found the battle-system to be fun).
I've never played FF Tactics.

FFXII is ridiculously easy compared to Tactics. FFXII has a nice leveling curve, and as long as you maintain your levels, it should stay quite nice throughout. Obviously the optional bosses, etc are more difficult, but it's by far the easier game.

Tactics on the other hand...the game went from "quite easy" to "ridiculously awfully difficult" in no time at all. You can't play the game casually, like you can with XII, you have to put a hell of a lot of time, effort and energy into Tactics to make it worthwhile.

Although the FFTactics series for GBA/DS are far easier, they're really Tactics-Lite.

XII is much much easier than Tactics. It took me seven years to beat Tactics! I beat XII in... a couple of weeks? A month, maybe? Some of the side stuff in XII is extremely tough, however, I didn't do most of it.

I was always reluctant to level up in Tactics, because time passes in the game. I didn't want my characters spending two years of their lives wandering around killing piscodemons or whatever. Still, you need to. There are a few battles that are real stinkers, but it gets easier.

FFT actually requires so much more skill and planning in some battles. Especially envolving Elmdor and the assassins.
