The advantage I got from the going through closed beta is definitely helping out here... though I noticed the cost of basic materials skyrocketed in OB. All this means is that we'll have to charge fighters a fortune for equipment...

I highly recommend not using Square's crappy downloader and use a legitimate torrenting program like Bittorrent ( http://www.bittorrent.com/ ) when trying to download the game. All you have to do is go inside My Documents/My Games/FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version/downloads/ffxiv-beta, and open up each of the oddly named folders found inside. From there look inside the "metainfo" folders to find the torrents for each update that you are trying to download. Run them in Bittorrent directly, move the downloaded contents into the respective "patch" folder and then rerun the game launcher. You should be able to then move right on to the next download, which you can then cancel and repeat the process.

There's no way you can run this game without a dedicated graphics card. Sorry mate but what you're using won't possibly be able to make the game work.
Anyone else pissed off about this game not having tutorials to fill you in?
I mean I have no idea how I'm supposed to play the game if I choose Discipline of the Hand or how to retry a Guildleve after failing to complete it (because the game crashes every 10 minutes)... ok, let's assume that the crashes will go away in the final product and aside from the controls which look like they are not user friendly for pc gamers; if there are no tutorials to tell you what is what and where to go to do that I don't think I'm going to bother with the official release.

Anyone know when the beta will come out for ps3?
probably some time in February as the game is being released on the PS3 in march
good luck playing it though, with the insane technical requirements on the PC I'm not sure how Square can possibly get this game to run on a console
