Though there's not much new to be seen here. The races are basically the same as those in FF XI with a couple of tweaks here and there and new names. Hell the least they could've done was making sure those tweaks actually improve upon their FF XI counterparts. The Lalafell (used to be Tarutaru I reckon) look like teletubbies :worried:

This shows how god-awful Lazy Squeenix are at their own jobs, yet people still gobble it up with no question because Final Fantasy is on the title. They try to make things look different, that's obvious with them pointing out that it's a 'different world' and the different race names means they intend these to be entirely different races, too. But I just don't see the effort here. I honestly think it'd be better for Squeenix to just go ahead and call it 'Final Fantasy XI: Online for the PS3'.

After all, that's the only reason they made it, to cater to a wider idiotic demographic by upgrading it to PS3, a system with the harddrive already included and some of the more hard-headed asinine fans in the gaming industry; the people who bash Microsoft for wanting all your money while foolishly investing $600+ into a system with the most limited selection of games made specifically for it. For me, I'd sell a PS3 rather than keep one, because I'd only use it as a paperweight, so I may as well get a small fortune from it. Same goes for FF XIV when it comes out.

I just miss the good old days when Sony's consoles were reasonably-priced and the exclusives weren't mostly crap. From PSone to PS2 to PS3? What happened?

/pointless rant.

Well they have said that there will be other races, but that they carried over the races from FF XI to please their FF XI subscribers. One can of course always argue whether or not it's wise to cater to such a relatively small customer base, and whether or not those people really wanted to see the FF XI races make a return.

Yeah, but alot of games do this kind of thing. Look at naxx and tier 7 armor in wow, its all just tier 3 armor recolored, and naxx was already a created instance from the original game just upped the mob difficulty.

I really dont care if its the same characters, as long as the world is different, mobs, and anything else that makes a new game a new game. would you complain if other final fantasy characters came back in a different numbered version? Say Cloud was back in FF15? Doubt it.

I very well would. Which is to say you don't know me very well. I already have problems with characters just LOOKING alike from game to game. So, yeah, any lack of thought, creativity, or originality Squeenix has, I'll be there. :P

yh the races are pretty much the same thing... but that's cool... although I would like to see something new

Well the Taruta- I mean... Lalafells look a bit taller than they were in FFXI. Too bad they didn't introduce any new races. I would've liked to see some new ones.

Ah well, looking forward to more info about the battle system now.

Dear God, Lalafell??!! Who was responsible for that? The poor Tarutarus will now be known as the Teletubby race.

"One day in Eorzealand, a Lalafell is collecting some pretty flowers. Hello, Lalafell!"

"Eh oh!"

Holy shit the races of Final Fantasy XIV look really good. I like the Miquotes so far and the Hyuran. The assassin guy on the second page looks really sick. You know what I think were never going to stop playing this!

Haha and the worst thing is that Lalafell even sounds like it could be the name of a teletubby :P I'm hoping that the remaining races, that have yet to be revealed, will be a bit more on the beastly side. There's enough human looking races as it is.

I was a little late on the FF band-wagon, and was thinking of getting XI. I decided against it because I heard XIV was in the works. So I'm like:

"Ok, I'll just wait for the newer and better version."

I read the article.............I don't think I'm getting XIV unless Enix REALLY does something new.

The races look nice, but it is the last thing I care about.
If the battle system will be as lame as in FFXI (and I have a feeling it will be), then there is no race which can save this game.

I agree with this. The battle system in FFXI was... well, it wasn't very good. They did say they were going to make improvements to it, I just hope they stick to what they say.
