FF12 IS BLOWING ME AWAY!!! SERIOUSLY!!

Hi! This is my 1st post and I like this Final Fantasy the most, so I thought this would be a good place for my 1st post. As I read earlier on, I do appreciate them getting rid of the random battles (in FF1, There was a battle every other step!). The music is great, too. AKA The Pharos at Ridorna First Ascent. Where are you in the game?

You'll put in many more, trust me!
I've clocked over 100 hours now, and I'm still not finished it, haha!

It's a really good game. Very political, very intriguing.
The graphics are beautiful. I must admit, I really missed turn-based battles, it's just something I associate with FF games by now...but that said, the system is fun once one adjusts :)

I totally agree and am loving that aspect of the story, its certainly not the most epic but its one of the most intriguing and politically realistic, the whole world its self is a very believable one(what with bunny ears on forest dwelling girls lol) but seriously i love this game, 95 hours in now at the pharos but just doing hunts for prizes!!!

thats exactly where i am now, its a great piece of music yes. I really love turn based combat as well but over the last few year I prefer to see the enemies on field so i can choose to fight them, makes the environments more believable,

i think alot of ppl hate it cuz its not eazy in the begginning lik most FF's seriously u can die at lvl 1. I personally like it, only 40 hours usely wold complete a normal FF game but im not eve close to being done :O

I agree with that point, I love to be involved in an rpg for well over 50 hours, the longer the better i say, so long as its not too boring, i loved oblivions replay value, just the kind of gamer i am!!!

yes its great that its a challenge, I am over leveled and sometimes i think to myself if i wasn't then how would i have progressed at certain points you know!!

great game!!

Yeah, getting all of the espers and hunts is kind of overwhelming, almost. There's so much to do, that the game really does pay for itself. *u*

I realllllly liked the battle system, too. Sure, some aspects could be improved upon (which I suspect might be fixed up in XIII), but overall, it was a change from the turn based system. Also, rather than getting random encounters, I preferred seeing the enemy. Who else has gotten frustrated in previous games when you get a random encounter every two steps?

Yes i love how it still feels turn based cause you CAN pause and strategies and you really must exploit the enemy weakness early on, also yes i was getting hugely frustrated at random encounters, i mean its okay when your LOOOKING for a battle but if im going from one town to the next sometimes i want to do JUST that, maybe in the old games a PRESS A TO BATTLE could have popped up giving you the choice at random intervals, maybe the likely hood of avoiding a battle could depend on your HP or something!!

<--- This gamer does, FFX malcalania woods or w/e, nightmares! random encounter gallur.

And ya FFX12 was a great game start to finish but playing it over again and again was quite boring once u learned all the game machanics and missions. Wayyyy to much melee combat going on, spells shoulda been more usful which would make the gameplay more interesting. Also they shoulda made the leveling system more towards the one in FF2 where the more u used a spell or attack the better that move would be or created 2 entirely diffrent license boards one fore hard core spell casters and one for pure melee hax and slash characters or hyprid. I basicly started doing all the hard mode challenges to keep me interested. Now as for FFX, that never got boring, i dont know why though :P maybe cause each had a role ( melee type or caster type) and each did there job very well depending on encounters. Plus story was top notch.

thats a very nice idea with the two boards, that is kinda frustrating how theres no specific jobs for a certain person, like FFX, it adds more strategy and personalization to teh game!!!

ill be writing to square as soon as i can lol!!

thanks for the reply

You can die at level 1 on any game. I didn't find it all that hard in the beginning or at all really. And you could easily avoid the higher level monsters because they had a red health bar.

I don't remember how many hours I clocked but I did most of the sidequests. I can't say the game really blew me away either. I liked parts of it. I thought the scenery, cities and areas of the game were done well for the most part. The battle system was okay once I got used to it and I loved the hunting sidequests. I enjoyed a lot of the supporting cast as well. I didn't really care for the main characters; I found them to be quite boring. And the story was good at parts but it felt unfinished to me.

i agree with the story at times feeling unfinished, most rpgs are like that imo, i feel sometimes its the ambiguity in an rpgs storyline that draws me, its the mystery of not knowing EVERYTHING you know!!

and yes the supporitng cast are great in comparison to the main characters, i especial like balthier and ashe!!!

oh ye and the hunts are GREAT!!!

thanks for the reply!!

I have to agree to a certain extent, it was one of the reasons that I sorta like the game although I wish they'd have put more effort into the background of the characters. I couldn't disagree that the size of the areas, the graphics, music and the the actual appearance of the areas are amazing. It's just the battle system and lack of development in the characters/story that's a let down.

It'd be understandable for someone to think the game is amazing, especially those who haven't played an FF game before, it's just more easy to disagree with it being amazing having played better FF titles. But good on you for rating it so highly and I hope you keep enjoying it. :monster:

first off thanks for the reply!! yes i feel the characters were underdeveloped, but only compared to some other FF GAMES)(of which ive completed 1,4,6,7, and 10,) i feel it worked well in this game though, you must take the game for what it is, not what you thought it would be you know.
i think the more political side to it and the fast paced nature of happenings in ivalice lends well to fast paced charcters, im all for character development and i actraully do agree with you, i just didnt really mind it in this case!!!

i feel 6 had a great story and the music is still my favorite along with x!!!

totally agree with you, a very accurate depiction of this game!!

thanks!!!

thats where i am, everyone keeps telling me about Gilgamesh, cant wait lol!!

Lol, there's no such thing as over/under leveled in this game. Considering that it's entirely possible to get Zodiark at the lowest levels possible (1 for Vaan, 2 for Fran and Balthier, 3 for Penelo, Ashe and Basch). All you really need is the right equipment.

I agree that XII is a good game, but it's not the best. I personally thought that turning the classic summons into airships was borderline criminal though, tbh.
