13 – How could the game have been improved?

One of my favorite Final Fantasy games ever, only behind III and I, it ranks third on my list atm, and its the first great FF game since X, it more than makes up for the debacle that was XII

11 – What did you hate most about the game? Almost everything literally. The graphics were really the only decent thing about this game, and even they were only slightly above average.

12 – What did you enjoy most about the game? Graphics I guess?

13 – How could the game have been improved? By not ever existing

Comment: A lot of people are saying one. I don't really agree with that. The story wasn't the best, but I did think it started out with a very cool concept (fighting your destiny that was branded on you by the gods). I liked the story development in relations to Serah in the first game. So I thought it was decent enough. Not great. But not that bad either.

11 – What did you hate most about the game?

Answer: This probably isn't the best answer in the world since it's not really concrete or specific: the lack of feeling like a Final Fantasy game. I can't pinpoint it but it just didn't feel like a FF game to me. Also the lack of a good villian.

12 – What did you enjoy most about the game?

Answer: The graphics, definitely. It was a gorgeous game.

13 – How could the game have been improved?

- Better villain
- Better battle system. Or at the very least not have it that if your party leader dies it's game over. That was stupid.
- Towns and shops.
- Buying cool weapons and armors.
- Getting gil after battles
- The story wasn't all that bad, but the way it was told should be improved
- Make it less linear
- Mini games
- Better monsters
- The summons/power rangers thing needs to be dashed. Keep summons as summons, not motor vehicles
- Being able to control all party members

Comment: When I first played the game I liked it as a game. If that makes sense. But when I started playing all the Final Fantasy's I realized how dull and lifeless it was compared to the rest of the series. If you take the game and put it out there compared to other games on the market it's not THAT bad. Trust me, there's a lot of shit out there for this generation of gaming. But when you put it in comparison to the former FF's it's a piece of crap.

Storyline development - 3
The custscenes did a lousy job of telling the story, but otherwise I found it fairly interesting. Anytime you have to read a datalog entry to find out what actually happened during that cutscene you just watched, they've done a lousy job of storytelling.

Graphics - 5
They were great.

Dialogue - 1
Trite and superficial, ocassionally bordering on the infantile. "Let's make a real-life miracle happen!!!" Oh gawd...

Entertainment - 3
I enjoyed it enough to platinum it.

Soundtrack/Music - 4
Average overall, very good in spots.

Gameplay - 3
Battle system was horrible but the characters, story and variety of environments were basically what kept me going.

Battle System - 1
All the stuff that's fun to control during combat was taken out of your hands, leaving you nothing to do but choose option A, B, C, D, E or F. It was unbearably monotonous. I realize that the "challenge" of it comes from creating the paradigms, but it was way too simple for that to be fun or engaging.

Are you likely to by next Final Fantasy game? - Yes. I liked the characters and the story and just the whole atmosphere I guess.

How did you hear about the game? - The 9,000 articles about it on the internet

What did you hate most about the game? - The battle system and the pitifully weak enemies.

What did you enjoy most about the game? - The characters and overall atmosphere.

How could the game have been improved? - A battle system that required some though and/or skill during the first 60 hours. More mature dialogue. Levelling system for weapons and accessories could have let you know how far you could level something up before it hit its max.

Comments: Overall I'd give the game a 4/5, which is very odd because several aspects of the game were downright awful in my opinion. I guess between the characters (one-dimensional as they were), the story (poorly told as it was) and the environments (linear as they were), I was somehow drawn into it and wanted to spend a lot of time in that fictional world.

1 – Storyline development

4 The story was great but it seemed a little patchy in some places.

2 – Graphics

4 Graphics is one thing you cannot complain about on this game Square Enix did a great job on the graphics in this Title

3 – Dialogue

4 Vanilles Voice end of.

4 – Entertainment

5 I thouroughly enjoyed playing this game although is some parts it seemed to drag a little.

5 – Soundtrack/Music

4 The Music was good but nowhere near as good as the music on some of the other titles

6 – Gameplay

4 I didn't mind it been "too linear" and there was nothing wrong with the battle system it required strategy & that isn't something you get in many RPGs these days

7 – Battle System

4 I loved the Paradigm shift, however the only downfall was only being able to control one character in the battle it would've been nice to control the whole party.

8 – Are you likely to by next Final Fantasy game?

Yes Definitely XIII was one of the best games I have ever played and I would hate to miss out on the sequel.

Previous titles, I knew I was going to get this one since when it started being advertised

On a whole this game is absolutely amazing and it is only bad in a few aspects. I will definitely be Buying XIII-2 and hope that there is a third installment with these wonderful characters!
