here's my problem right now. hell, emulating the PS1 version has a better looking bg right now. it's like that with most of the 2d gfx (including text dialogs) and my gfx card is a Geforce FX 5200 before you ask.
Yeah that happens if you applyed and tried to use the high resolution patch. Since you have ultima edition (im assuming you got it from my link i supplyed) you cant use the pathc for some reason or another. Even i have a high end vid card aswell and it wont work. To fix this youll have to click on FF7 config.exe and set it to play without 3D hardware device.
right, i'm reinstalling now since my pad stopped working with it for some reasonand when i tried the hi res cloud mod, it crashed whenever i went into battle until i removed it. the AC Avatars Mod Worked fine though
hmm thats weird it shouldnt crash when going into battle, try again after the install and tell me what happens.
stopped crashing when i go into battle now (only just had a chance to try it again) but it now crashes most of the time when exiting the game meaning i have to reboot my computer
Yeah one thing i learned is that the game runs better in compatability mode for windows 95, go to your FF7.exe right click and select properties, select compatability mode, and select windows 95, that should stop the problems.
i had it on compatability for 98/ME but one thing that happens every single time with compatablity mode enabled is it "lingers" in memory after i quit (meaning i have to ctrl alt del and get rid of it that way) but i can't really complain since it actually works fine now.
Yeah i hate that, i forget sometimes to close it from processes lol

ok something majorly weireds happened. i think i installed the patch thing properly but the problem is in towns and dungeons its the normal graphics but on the world map its the improved graphics o_0 have i done something wrong?
the pc version looks cool... but the ps version is ff7 lol i think its the best
OK I've done the patch that changes the spell names etc fine but I've reached trouble with the NPC Reconstruction patch. I've followed the Read-Mee file exactly but for some reason when I boot up the game and attempt to load a file I get a messege saying Error: DDFCHI or sommit liek that then the whole thing closes down.

Sorry i havent checked this in a while but to answer your question, try doing the patch agan, and always remember to make a new folder on your desktop with the backup files of whatever your modifying, in this case it would be the char file in the data directory.
I uninstalled and started from scratch so its not fucked anymore. I've tried doing the patch again but still didn't work, but never got the error messege either. Tis a pain. I'm backing up the files now so each time sommit goes wrong I can just go back abit so I'll just plough on till things look up....
