FFIX - Worth Getting?

OF COURSE IT'S WORTH BOTH YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!! IT IS ONE OF THE BEST GAMES EVER MADE!! the graphics imo, pushed the limits of the ps1's hardware. the story was probly the best of any FF game. all in all, it is the best game i've played.

In my opinion, I think it is one of the best FFs in the whole series so far! It is way much better than FFVII! It may not as popular as FFVII but I still consider my most favorite in my opinion :D

Worth Getting?

I've played all the final fantasy games except 9. I haven't been able to find it in 10 years, but the PlayStation network released the game and I was wondering if it's even worth picking up. I've herd that it sucked as well as its the greatest final fantasy ever. I need help, I can't decide.

It's a game were you either like it or you don't so it's hard to go by other peoples opinion's of it. The story is pretty good there are decent characters in it and there is a couple of mini games throughout the game which keep it entertaining. It is worth getting to at least say you have played it but whether you like it or not depends on if you can get into the story.

DO IT ! THAT'S A ORDER ! If you like old-school FF then i think you should like this one. It is very diffrent for the others but that's what make it's charm. Good story and characters. And it's NOT childish at all !

I am not even a fan of the classic FFs, yet I like it so much. But if you are like a huge fan of other title/s like VII or VIII, then I don't know, as others said, it is really different (yet unique).

Definatly worth getting, it's pretty much the last final fantasy installment of a dying breed of rpgs. Great storyline as well, and a great side-quest involving a chocobo.

The game was until FFXIV the last time Uematsu solo wrote the FF OST (Had small input in X and XI, but not solo). The music in it was great, had some awesome themes especially if you like the retro feel of Uematsu. As for the gameplay itself, it is alot simpler than VII and VIII, and more like the older FFs, in terms of setting job traits (nulify poison, autohaste etc). Battling I found fun. Stealing with Zidane for items off Bosses can get annoying because with some battles you could be sitting stalling for 30 mins before you steal that last item to deal the killing blow( 2 specific bosses stick out in my mind, if you played IX, you know which). The mini games I found fun, especially the Chocobo digging. That along with the interesting main character who happens to not be a whiny bitch like many of the other FFs (Cloud/Squall, I am looking at you pair) makes it a refreshing change while still similar format to the pre FFX days of Square Soft (YEP, SOFT), games.

I believe that its an alright game, as stated above its more old school and it has some alright mini-games. But i had a somewhat hard time understanding the storyline, but who knows maybe i just missed a part and from there on i was just completely lost.

I must say that I'm strongly biased to FFIX, seeing as even after my father sold my PSone so that he could pay the PS2, I looked for another copy and eventually found it, although rather overpriced due to rarity. I cried over this game prior to finding it and remembered the soundtrack without listening to it. I saw myself chanting the world map theme occasionally when I was trying to sleep, and I could still remember every single boss with the exception of Taharka. It was my first FF ever, and I still love it and it reminds me of my childhood, when I'd get toy daggers and mimic Zidane fighting.

I'd say yes, totally worth getting, but then I'm too biased to it.

It's not one of the best Final Fantasy games, in my opinion. It's actually probably one of the least exciting ones; the level up system is very basic and there are no options for customizing your characters (which is to be expected in a Final Fantasy game). I also think that the characters who aren't bland (Quina, Eiko, Freya) are just too bizarre to emphasize with.

I would play more popular games in the series, like VII, VIII, and X before trying this out. I am definitely not a fan.

Finally succumbing from curiosity and recommendations from friends; and after doing research and watching trailers/gameplay on all the FF games, I decided to play IX as my first FF game. I downloaded it a month ago from the PSN for $9.99 for my PS3.

Definately worth getting. I'm glad I chose this as my first FF game.

It had more appeal to me than VII, VIII, or X. Probably because it was a game catered for the fans of I - VI, from what I've read. I mean, I didn't want to bother searching for the real copies or use emulators, so I - VI were out. I know VII is supposed to be the "most popular," but honestly to me, it makes it seem overrated. Plus, I wanted to be a rebel and be different from the norm, playing IX first rather than VII.

I liked the art and characters of IX at first glance. I like the more "cartoony" style over the more serious tone of VII, VIII, maybe X. Yet, the game still has deep themes. This was really cool to me since it was different from what I normally play.

For now, it'll remain the only FF game I've played because of all the new games coming out soon this year, and I'm saving my money for them. First person and third person shooters have always remained my favorite genre.

Note: I'm practically a new FF fan, and have only played RPGs the past two years (starting with Fallout 3 and TES IV: Oblivion). I don't know much about the series as a whole other than all the games are different in story and characters, with few elements shared. I'm not saying the others are bad, but IX honestly had more appeal to me. Just saying.

I'd say it is worth getting. It is the last good FF game to come out(from the main series). If you hunt on E-bay, you can probably get a copy for $15 - $20. A good deal. Definitely worth getting if you like the older FF games.

Honestly, FFIX was my favorite, but it also was my first. To say that it is the best one, is a long shot for most people. What I got most out of the game was the amount of variety this game had. There were multiple side quests to accomplish, a compelling story line, 4 discs which is pretty cool haha, as well as a diverse cast of characters that are truly relatable to many walks of life. I really enjoyed getting through the game, developing the characters story lines as well as skill sets and items. The game is definitely worth getting if you are looking for a lengthy, well invested worth of gameplay, action, adventure, drama, and of course, Fantasy :)

It's a very good game. The story is good, the characters are diverse. If you like good story ad character development then this game is a must. There's not much special about the gameplay, but it's not bad. You learn techniques through your weapons which is simple enough, it's not out there or different but it's nice and makes for an easy-to-understand game. I liked it.

Xx..xX

Not getting this game would be like shooting yourself in the foot! It's actually the best of the PS1 titles, (even though FFVII is my fave, go figure!) so I'd say get this game asap if you don't have it. FFIX is one of those MUST play titles of the series. Really though, almost the entire cast of character is likable AND there's a healthy dose of comedy in the plot, which is quite welcome after the two more serious titles that came before it.

Definitely worth getting and playing multiple times! One of my top 5 FF's and definitely worth investing some hours into.

I see a lot of people are very fond of this game :)

Well it has just been shipped from America as I can play it on my ps3 as they are reigion locked (I looked it up dw :P)

should be here by the 13th, I honestly can't wait, thanks to this thread :D

It is worth it, if you have your doubts, try looking at some videos of ff9 gameplay for you to have an idea, when it comes to story it has good story line
