OMG I've always wanted a VI remake. But why 3DS? The PSP would be a way better bet, just like they remade I and II for PSP on the 20th anniversary. Please SE, VI deserves PSP!!!!!!!!!!! D:

Well, have you seen the graphics a Nintendo 3DS has? They run a RE5 variant engine.

Which looks like a PSP game, if not better. :)

Its a matter of which engine they will pick, if they choose to make a remake for 3DS.

I know, but people already have PSP's. I don't wanna shell out $250 for a handheld I'd only use for these two games + KH 3D. That would be a big waste of money! And the games could start getting expensive if Nintendo feels its time....

I'm pretty sure the 3DS cartridges will be able to run on DSs.... :b

No they won't. There wouldn't be any need whatsoever for a Nintendo 3DS console if the 3DS cartridges can run on the ordinary DSs.

Additionally:

If you look at the cartridge up close, you can see it has a slightly different shape to that of ordinary DS cartridges (a little tab). Therefore they may not be able to even fit in the DS slots.

Good point, although I never thought of it that way. :hmmm: I think it might be worthy to note as well that the games developed for the 3DS will probably all have a sort of 3D feature at some point in the game and the NDS wouldn't be able to support that feature. A bit like 3D on a non-3D TV.

Oh....alright then, they can always make a copy for the original DS, that isn't in 3D. :kelly:

But then we're right back to them being unable to have the technical abilities to perform V and VI on the DS. :monster:

Perhaps Nintendo should have spent more time developing the 3DS to perfect capabilities rather than diverting their attention towards the DSi XL for a bit. Perhaps THEN we would have our remakes sooner.

Nah, they are stalling. They aren't any tech problems, they are lying to us to trick us. The precious -- er, I mean SE -- is very tricksy.

We can't trust them, they will pull a fast one.

Besides, they have run a variant of RE5. They can't possible have tech problems with FF5&6.

So true. Why can't they just keep it under wraps for another year when they're ready to release it instead of lying so they have more time to work on it?

They should make them for the PSP. Go out with a bang on the legacy installments// But they should stop there. If they remake FF7, I'm kicking Sqaure-Enix square in the ass.

If they do remake this for the DS or 3DS...............I will buy either..........Just like I bought a PS3 for Final Fantasy XIII versus.........But I'd rather have them working on VI rather than V..............the story is much better plus the gameplay..........

Yes, it is, but they can totally redo 5's story. Or, at the very least, make it better. With voice acting, better writting dialog, and beautiful environments, I bet you won't even recognize 5.

Then, ponder what they can do with 6. And wet your pants.

Forgive me for being the devil's advocate here, but am I the only one who doesn't really like the idea of full remakes? I played the FF3 remake because it was (and I think still is) the only English-translated version of the game available in stores today. As far as FF4 goes, I had a choice between the Playstation version, Super Nintendo version, or the DS remake. I didn't want to play the Super Nintendo version because I had heard it was a dumbed-down version as far as difficulty goes. So it really was between Playstation and DS. DS is portable, so I chose the remake.

Final Fantasy 6 is my favorite game of all time, hands-down. Sure, I'd love to see a 3D remake of it on my DS. But a true remake, such as one on a next-gen console, would do more than simply turn the 2-D into 3D, and add a little voice-acting. It could completely change the whole feel of the game. A prime example would be FF7 and Advent Children. FF7 is a classic game in ALL respects. Awesome music, awesome story, awesome gameplay, and awesome graphics for its time. Along comes Advent Children, and I thought that if I had seen the movie before playing the game, I would probably not have even tried the game, or at least had been reluctant to do so. I couldn't imagine the Opera Scene in FF6 being completely remade. I think it wouldn't do justice to the limited, yet charming feel that the original brings. Imagine actual voice-singing instead of the incomprehensible Celes of old; it just wouldn't be the same!

Then again, they could actually surprise me. In any case, if they do decide to do the remakes, I just hope they would be on the DS, because I don't have a DSXL, and I don't have money for a 3DS. I have the DSi that my woman bought for me on Christmas and that's it.

I doubt we'll see remakes of these games on full consoles.Maybe PSP/DS remakes with addtional material.

Like what was done with FF Tactics and what is being done with Tactics Ogre.

I don't mind remakes, it gives fans a chance to play older games than they wouldn't normally be able to. Wada (in his only ever sensible comment) did say that remakes are "low cost-high profit" which makes sense. It's more of the modern games that people rage for which annoys me >.>

FF5 is absolutely awful IMO. But I've heard good things about FF6 so I would probably pick it up just to have a go. I doubt it would be a bad investment seeing as it's held in high regard... in a different way than FF7 is I think. :hmmm:

I'd definitely play FFVI if it was remade. Never played it because I've never managed to get hold of a copy (I don't have a GBA and PS1 copies are really expensive) and since lots of people say it's amazing I'd probably play it.
FFV, though... I don't know if I'd play that. I've never played that either but I've heard bad reviews and I think they'd do better remaking the earlier ones before it.

I enjoyed both V and VI, V because I enjoy a good job system with a choice even though the plot leaves a lot to be desired, and VI, is hands down my favourite FF, the characters, the plot, the way you developed characters was simple and perfect, everything about the game I loved, and I wouldn't argue with a chance to see it with better graphics, as long as they don't go and change too much of the game.

I would have to say that V was one of the funnest in the series. I think its gameplay beats VI's. But VI had much better story and the best villain =P
