Love it or Hate it?

it's not my game , it's my soul
this game is one of the most meaningful things in my life

I despise FFVIII
I hate the main protagonist, there's no depth to the characters, Rinoa's a slut and Seifer's bastardised.
Also, I hate the Junctioning system, what the hell was that about?

what he said. drawing magic took forever, and the junctioning magic/ability system was all fxcked up. i neither love or hate the game, just thought if they changed the system it wouldn't be as boring and limited.

It's one of my favourite games ever. I can understand why people would hate it though. but I remember being a little dude, really excited that i got this game for christmas. I was just in love with it. Everytime I play it, it's like im a little kid again.

playing Cards kills alot of hours of my day lol.

but yes, it's a great game. People can say bad things about it, but I can't help but clog my ears singing "lalalala can't hear you", because I still enjoy it today.

I LOVE THIS GAME. FF 8 was my Favorit final fantasy game -that is until FF X came into play- that is my favorit story mode Final Fantasy though FF10. FF 8 is my favorit of all time though so yeah. :P

I didn't mind it.

I liked the characters and the stories, though as some people have already mentioned character development was lacking.

Junctioning system was alright. I liked the idea of getting spells of enemies, but I could not quite grasp how to use it properly .

It's hard to vote on this thread to be honest. There should have been a third option saying.. "it was okay" or something.

For one the game came after FFVII so it was very hard follow up, so of course I was a bit of a critic on this one. I liked the story, I liked the GFs but it was VERY slow paced at times. During these slow paced times, I just couldn't keep my attention on the game. At least with FFVII when there was down time it was usually comical. (Cloud dressing up as a woman to see tifa in the "sex palace" as I call it)

I just think sometimes building up the GFs were a bit time consuming and some of the side characters got under my skin because they were weak compared to Squall. I crawled through this game, and at times I thought there were some brilliant things, and yes it definitely deserves the "FF" title.. but the only thing I really liked was the love story and the card system.

It was a good story, which makes it a good FF in my opinion. So I can't say I loved it or Hated it.. I was just like.. "eh" about it.

I loved it; in fact I think it is the best FF. I love the characters, the story and he game play, indeed I may even be a ffviii fanboy :)

Though granted it was the first FF game I've played and I've long held the theory that people mostly favour the first FF they played.

people don't like the game because final fantasy's target fan-base (males age 12-18) for the most part are so hyped up on testostirone that a love story with no super sexyfied females (for example tifa and her ample....endowments) also, it wasn't really actiony at all.

so really the people that hate it are either super VII fan-boys that can't get over aerith, or idiots that are mad they could get a hard on from watching some guy with a big sword fight with some guy with a big sword and jack off to the women falling for the main character.

I myself being a guy 15 I understand but its irrational to hate it

VIII was my first final fantasy so it has a special place in my heart

but when you say it had alot to live up to your wrong, it just wasn't as innovative as VII (playing VIII first then VII is horrible.....VII get boring really fast)

FFVIII FOREVER

i loved ff8s story it was the first final fantasy game i played but the last one i completed. i fot it lacked sidequests etc but it actually has a few and they help 2 explain storys about raine and laguna etc.
dont diss the game it was a bench mark of squares and i think it workd well for its time

Lets see, what DON'T I hate about the game. I hate the draw system, I hate the junction system, I hate the back stories of the char or lack there of, I hate the story and I hate the chars. To me the chars felt like they didn't have much effort put into giving them meaningfull personalities. The story seemed random to me and a final boss was non-existent through most of the game. They junction system while nice in theory was not executed well. Drawing just pissed me off. If I didn't want to spend hours drawing magic from enemies then I'd have to play the blasted card game. I hate the blasted card game. The rules constently changed and it was a pain in the *** just to try and keep the reasonable rules active. Then to get ANY of the good cards you had to play the blasted Queen of Cards who used random rules no mater the current rules in effect for a given region. The game was nothing more then a tedious wast of time.

i loved the game although it was the first final fantasy i had ever played so that may be why it's my favorite. i really liked the characters and the GFs too (even though they were kind of cheap). It was just a great game

Well final fantasy 8 is my BEST game out of all my games. What i like about it is that people change like squall for example hehe =] he was all alone missing sis, then saw this. . . . ok i could go on for ever but it LOVE IT 10/10

It's not that great as people make it out to be, neither is it as bad. The most annoying part is probably the drawing of magic. Where did the good old MP go to?

I hated it until I figured out how to actually use the junctioning system then I loved it, otherwise I would use GF after GF and it got old

I thought it was possibly the most original of all the Final Fantasy games. That's just my opinion, but when I played it I felt as though the weapons, world, mini-games, and story were all new. Some of the other games, while still extremely good, feel rather recycled, but I remember playing FFVIII for the first time and thinking that I'd never played another game like it.
