FFXII: Love It or Hate It?

Well i love it !! it's one of the best ff games but i kinda like ffx & x-2 the most cause they where one of my first games :)The storyline in ffx&x-2 where just better i don't know why but it just was better..

I can't explain how hyped up I was for this game to release. The day it was hitting the shelves I couldn't help but dencouorage my friend to drive over 90 in his Camaro to the mnall to pick it up because of how long I had waited for this game.

Overall, this was a GREAT game! It took the beauty of the PS2 abilities and the awesomeness of a story, with side-quests galore, and made a spectacular game! Game of the year for 2006.

Well i love the game & the amount of hunts and sidequests and special areas like Barheim Passage...AND ESPERS:P

love it....

Definetly diferent...definetly great...Finally i found leveling almost interesting! xD

Now seriosly, i think it was the best battle system square created (except those espers: i think i only use zodiark...).

As for the storyline, well, i think it could be better - when i reached vayne, it felt like something was missing: looks like a part of the story was cut between pharos and bahamut.

As for the challenges it is something...some hunts can be great especially using atb, no other ff can achieve this level of dynamic.

As for the graphics (i guess its one of the less important things in ff - at least for me) they can be stunning, with the espers' limits reaching ps2 top quality.

For me, it's the 3rd best ff (following ff7 and ffx)

Mixed feelings for me. I like the combat system where-as you could actually MOVE AROUND and use some more tactics (Switch to Balthier when fighting a major enemy, have him shoot and run away. get closer, shoot, run away, repeat) and customize your AI. However the lack of playable Bangaa (I love Bangaa) ticked me off, I mean, you see them just about anywhere. Quickenings sucked pretty badly. Can't say to much else since I haven't finished it yet. I like the story though...

I really did like FFXII. The story was fairly good, and there was a decent amount of character development. The battle system was new and somewhat challenging. I didn't exactly find myself dying a lot nor did I find myself walking around owning everything. I simply found myself having to be watchful and making a few moves in order to live.

Though I do admit some of the end game hunts were really hard and long and I didn end up dying quite a few times doing them.

The actual ending (boss part of it) was kind of random in a sense. I really don't know how else to explain it. Really it was just farfetched I guess. Still I didn't find myself disappointed.

I like the game for many of the reasons stated above; the License board, the ATB, graphics.

What I really liked though, was the loot drops instead of random amounts of gil. I mean, some monsters still drop gil, but only the ones where it would make sense that they had gil in the first place. Instead of Bombs dropping a tidy amount of cash each, they -might- drop valuable or not so valuable loot. It all depends. The Bazaar was also a good idea.

Get those Monographs!

I really enjoyed Final XII. My favorite story line was X, but I loved the updated mechanics in XII's battle system (gambits and 3d game play rocked) and the license board. I'd give anything to see a similar license board in XIII, but with a more specific path for each character like X's sphere grid. I really think Final XII made as large a jump in RPG gaming as X did over IX. I do agree that the story in XII was just barely not quite up to usual FF standards, but I also think we've been a bit spoiled by the great stories told since VII... Oh, and I'm in love with Fran. Hot chicks with the Playboy bunny ears preattached?? :D:D:D

It was ok i guess, there were things I liked. The hunts were one of the best side games that I have seen in final fantasy, and Reddas is deffinately my favourite npc in the series. That said the storyline was woefully inadequet compared to the rest of the final fantasy`s, the characters were not developed at all, for me that was the biggest mistake SE made........................I didn`t really care what happened to Vaan, Ashe and co. And I would have prefered the Espers to have had the usual names (shiva, ifrit, bahamut etc) rather than those going to the airships.
Still i`m playing it at the moment so it can`t be that bad..................but it could have been so much better.

I decided to give FFXII another chance and I asked for my copy back from my cousin.

I'm surprisingly hooked this time around, the graphics are fresh, the VAs are tolerable (Fran's especially) and the battle system is starting to grow on me.

However, the amount of underground stages is irking me at the moment, the bland and repetitive surroundings are an eye sore and the fact that there 100,000,000 different types of elemental, T-rex and flan is annoying.

Overall I wouldn't say that I love this game and I wouldn't say that I hate it, I'm just enjoying it at the moment.

i loved the game the storyline, battle system, cutscenes and all the additional stuffthe sidequests was great.

i didnt find anything much wrong with it, it gave great gaming experience and from what i am hearing its different form the other ffs but since this is the only thing i have played i cant say anything on that. also the game didnt have a love story or maybe i didnt understand it. at the start vaan had a crush on ashe but at the bahmut destroying scene the way ashe acted towards balthier i was confused.

To tell the truth, i did not like it that much.
I think the reason might be because i was hoping it to be way to much like the previous FF games. I only spent about 15 hours on the game and i really couldnt get into it.
Some things i loved.
Some things i hated & very dissapointed.

Im thinking about borrowing the from my uncle & giving it another try.

Have I posted in this? I think I have and I will again. =/.

FFXII is just really...lackluster, IMO. The battle system is rather good and keeps my attention but the story line is not even there. =/. It's rather...bleh.

The storyline is there... It's just too Star Wars. xD

IMO, FFXII was the best of the worst Final Fantasies.

Yeah... The only character I liked was Vaan, because he was less annoying than Tidus, but with the same hair color. ^^

Most of the characters were great - I don't even think anyone was that emo! At last, a Final Fantasy where noone was too emo and had major psychological issues!

and instead the characters were generic and boring. they were all so bland

Mod Edit: Please put more effort into your post.

I could. xD They barely did anything but run around, following an uninspired Star Wars rip-offish storyline with no personalities, being colorful yet drab at the same time, which makes absolutely no sense. >-<
