Help FFXIII: HELP! New to FF and extremely confused!

In some ways it might be a tad harder (there's no auto-battle), in someways it's easier.

It's definitely a lot less sophisticated than FF13 - and it's easier to learn and understand, because it's more simple, and it's explained pretty well. And it's really enjoyable.

I recommend it!

I doubt it.

it seems like its not too much of a challenge, but ive only played a little of it so far

the Materia equipping is easy to understand.
much easier than FF VIII's junction system

Eh the junction system never really bothered as far as confusion. But I'm not going to sit and draw 100 spells a piece to my 3 people, and half the time my draws would fail. I just never had the patience for that shit. Especially in a boss fight against Ultima Weapon for example. I'm sitting here trying to stay alive and having to draw at the same time? Never really was a fan of the junction system myself either.

I bought 7 played like 3 and a half hour so far its boring i dont know many skills and most of the time i spam attack on my enemies, hope it changes soon.

buy a strategy guide if your getting confused only 13.99 on ebays+amazons lol

imo 7 is not that great, overly simple. Cloud is emotional trash and sephiroth is a momma's boy. Personal opinion of course. I do like 13 a lot and i believe it to be one of the best, along side with VIII, VI, IV, IX and X. I also loved how 13 was extremely fast paced, and now i can barely stand the slow pace battles of the older series but i will still love them as they are what i grew up on

FF7 takes forever to get going. I don't consider the game started till your out of Midgar. If you want to play one of the oldies I would recomend ff9, easily my favorite of the series. Nothing wrong with 13 though OP, im on my 2nd play though rite now. Would be a classic if it had towns and a World Map.

i like your question, it made me realize how much knowledge we all have of not only the way rpg's work, but also stuff like the way computers work (right click, double click, all that), which we take for granted :D
as for your actual problem, i didn't bother to read through everyone's response, but i would recommend just using google or wikipedia to find out how most rpg's work (their basics). nearly every rpg you come across will have some sort of system that involves strength (usually to do with how effective your melee attacks will be, or how much gear you can hold), intelligence (usually to do with how effective your magic attacks will be, or how much mana you have), agility (has to do with your chances of dodging an attack or the speed/rate at which you attack), stamina(should always have to do with how much HP (hit points) you will have).
The internet is a useful tool, explore!!! maybe try some other common RPG's to get the hang of them if you'd like
