This game has a terrible habbit of being very easy, but place a damn hard boss right in the middle of it all. Proudclad is one of them.

How can I kill him without spending the entire day of RAV/SEN/MED ?
Whenever I switch to tri-disaster, his attacks are unaffected, and I have to constantly heal. So either way takes loooooooooooooong.

I just lost, because his rapid attacks killed Lightning. Which reminds of the fact that this game sucks. In any other FF, I could just have another character raise Lightning again, but noOoOooOoO.

Is this the first encounter? I use Lightning fang hope
shift to protection-sen,syn,med at the begining battle
keep it active till hope has everyone buffed to the max
then switch between delta attack-com,rav,sen and mystic tower-rav,rav sen
change to combat clinic-sen ,med, med befor the staggar ends and it starts blasting you away
When its time to heal heal lightning and no one else if you can heal after each blast she should be fine untill it returns to its normal attack routine
dont forget to go back to protection now and again to replenish your buffs.

Okay, well, I'll give you my strategy for the second encounter because if it works for the second encounter it'll blast the first encounter away. First, Sentinels are pretty much no help here. I'm talking specifically when it is in Annihilator Mode and it uses that freakin' beam attack that pretty much hits everyone. I used when it switched to Annihilator Mode to use the Protection/Combat Clinic (depending on how bad we were doing) paradigms and when it switched to Aerial Defense Mode, that's when I used one round of Delta Attack for a chain fix, then pummeled it with Relentless Assault (since Sentinel was useless) to skyrocket the chain gauge. It would be staggered in about 2-3 rounds. Then, I went beast on it with Aggression to deal damage. Relentless Assault is useless because only Fang would be dealing major damage. Smite/Scourge really come in handy. Then, you just repeat the process, but when it does the Retaliation Strike thing, you'd better be in Combat Clinic beforehand and hopefully you still have Haste. Haste tends to be very helpful, so invest in it.

The party I used was Light/Hope/Fang, by the way.

Hope dont have Haste yet though. Only Saz does. Another annoying thing about the game, cause I have the CP on Hope, but it wont allow me to level further. But I want to use him because the medic is more important.

But this aerial attack, he does constantly, all the time. Almost every tenth second. This causes me to heal all the time.

How long did you guys use to beat this bitch?

Somewhere between 5-8 minutes on the second try.

When he's in devastation mode or whatever it's called, don't bother trying to do damage. Focus on buffing and healing as his attacks drain HP too quickly. Ideally, you should have 2 medics in your party. As soon as you see him about to do retaliatory strike, switch to MED MED SEN or MED MED MED. When he's in aerial mode, his attacks are much weaker so stagger him quickly. When he's staggered, use paradigms with 2 COMs e.g., COM COM MED, COM COM RAV. Physical attacks do much more damage to him than elemental/magic attacks because if I remember correctly, only physical damage isn't halved.

The key to any boss battle is figuring out witch paradigms work best obviously, and knowing when to switch between them.

actually i kicked both encounters ass without a problem... just remember to switch to keep full synergist buffs up at all times, and switch to sent/med/anything right before the stagger ends, peice of cake

aerial mode = com/rav/rav, switch to com/rav/med when needed and then right back

anihilator mode = sen/rav/med, i was even able to do com/rav/med some of the times there, with buffs the blast dosnt hurt that much, again if your going too do that just switch a med in when you need too

How well does Death work against him? Im two steps away from getting it on Vanille.

I just died for the sixth time, getting pretty tired of him now.

I just found an easy way to defeat him.

Keywords are: DONT STAGGER HIM

By not staggering the Proudclad, his so called "Limiters" wont rise, and enhance his shield. So mostly COM/COM/MED, and pummel him just enough, without him ever staggering. When he does, switch to a passive mode like Combat Clinic, wait till his Stagger drops completely, and switch back to attacking him.

When doing this, you loose almost no health, and Proudclads health diminish steadilly without casuing you any danger. Its gonna take some time, but not as long as if you go full out on him constantly staggering and healing yourself.

Oh fuck no. I have to fight him AGAIN now?
And now he can fucking heal himself?

This game just keeps getting worse. After that fucking hard first battle, I did not want to see this boss again. Its like putting you up against Emerald Weapon twice.

its not that bad mate, you might just be a little low end to be there... have you concidered farming some cp and returning? like one guy mentioned not damaging in dev mode, i personally didnt care, my characters werent UBER LEET but the only time i wasnt attacking was right after the stagger and i found that com/med/rav worked fine for the rest..i had farmed enough cp in the central expance that when i beat bartandalus, right before re entering cacoon, i had enough cp saved up to actually go and get the signature abilites and then some for everyone...

i wana help you, which characters have you opted to use and what are their Health pools at?
