Film Friends Forever​

Howdy all!

Over on the Discord Channel, we've begun a semi-regular film night where we, as a server, watch a film together!

It's rather good fun; we all discuss, joke and just enjoy the movies.

As suggested by Dionysos, we will be using this thread for schedules and film suggestions!

Our past movies have included:
  • Cats
  • Detective Pikachu


The Watch list, in order of next to be watched, includes:
  1. (nothing added yet)
  2. A Father Ted special (this will be kept for Christmas)
If you want your film added to the watch list, make a post with your suggestion and we'll fit it into the schedule!
 
Hook, Disney Hercules, Robert Jr's Sherlock Holmes, Never Ending Story II, Gremlins both of them, same for Addams Family, and street fighter just for a few suggestions.
 
Okay, I think for fairness we'll give each person one suggestion at a time. Please choose your preferred film!
 
I second Disney's Hercules from that list too.
I'd second more than that but to keep it to one for now, I'll say that.

I'd also like us to watch Final Fantasy: Spirits Within at some point to see what that is like with fresh eyes after all these years.

I highly recommend Star Wars - the Third Gathers: Backstroke of the West to those who missed it - it's a special, special kind of film.

The order for the next 4 weeks is as so. There is a range for each film as it may need to wait for the weekend. The first week has a special kind of Irony, as Netflix will be releasing their own spin off Holmes film about his Niece(?), I believe!
  • 18-20th: Sherlock Holmes
  • 26-28th: FF: The Spirits Within
  • 3-5th October: Disney's Hercules/ MMPR!!!
  • 10-12th October: Advent Children Complete/Kingsglaive

Adam smacked my bottom and told me to come here instead of using Discord. And he was perfectly right to!

I put forward a new suggestion:

A.I. Artificial Intelligence.

My reasons? It has kid Haley Joel Osment in it as a young robot lad and it also has Jude Law as a prostitute robot!

It is a craaaazzzy film with some interesting (and deliberate) Pinocchio parallels. I will not say anything else about it in case people haven't seen it.

But this film is one that I recommend.

Jude Law being a prostitute robot is funny since he is Watson in Sherlock Holmes. Anyways since we do have some serious films up there even though we will pick fun at some aspects another one I would like to put as a potential later watch is The Covenant, it's essentially the male version of The Craft from back in the day.
 
Will try and make what I can that it isn't on a Friday! Liking the lineup so far :lew: Even if they are all a bit different from one another. Looking forward to possibly Kingsglaive - I know a lot of people didn't like it but I actually really did!

I don't have any proper suggestions but obviously Beverly Hills Chihuahua better be on the list.


Actually I take that back :mokken: I want to see the first Jurassic Park again.
I don't actually know how to movie, I haven't seen that many.

From looking at my schedule, Spirits Within and Kingsglaive/Advent Children are all looking like Saturday showings for me.

  • 3-5th October: Disney's Hercules/ MMPR!!!
  • 10-12th October: Advent Children Complete/Kingsglaive
  • 16-18th October: Zombieland
  • 23-25th October: Resident Evil (live action/whatever Linnaete wants)
  • 30-31st October: TBD - Miĸo

Can I suggest avoiding Saturday 3rd for Disney's Hercules?

That's the same time as The Crystals (Final Fantasy awards ceremony hosted by KupoCon). It starts at 8.00pm Evil Empire Time (GMT) and it would be improper of me to not at least recommend that FF fans watch that, let alone sit and watch Hercules whilst it is happening. :argor:

And I personally really want to be present for the Greek mythology stuff!

Would Friday or Sunday night work for you? Or when else?

We should be grand for Friday then! That was supposed to be 2-5th instead

Since the poll on Discord is at a tie between Hercules and Power Rangers, I actually suggest maybe Power Rangers for tomorrow since Miĸo said she’d like to see Hercules. It makes sense to do that one when everyone who wants to see it can be available. Especially when they are members of the prestigious Centaur Club!

Actually my son has been sick this week so my usual Friday errands are on hold, so I can make Hercules this week if it ends up being so. :) Thanks for considering me! I went ahead and rescinded my vote for Hercules :cool:
 
If we need a Halloween one that takes place during said day? If so I nominate Hocus Pocus which would be appropriate.
