Final Fantasy IX speedrun?

Has anyone here ever attempted one? If so, what was your final time? I just recently beat IX again, and I feel as this game would be a perfect challenge for a speedrun. I've done Final Fantasy VII in about 9 hours, which is no where near the record, but that was the best i've managed to do so far.

Please let me know what you think. I was also thinking about recording the speedrun once I discover the best strategy for IX.

You say slowly and not rushed and I'm hoping there's some sarcastic remark about the way the ATB charges somewhere in there but that's probably not the case, right? XD

Anyway, challenges, such as speedruns in this occasion, are usually taken after the player gets familiar with the game and has already enjoyed it "slowly and tastefully" many times so I don't see what's the issue here.

OP, speedruns, particularly for this game, probably go hand in hand with the Excalibur II sidequest. In fact, I don't think there's anyone who has done a speedrun for the speedrun itself but I'm certain that 99% that have done it have done it for the sidequest. I think my best was somewhere between 15-20 hours with skipping some of the fmvs on my (illegal) ntsc version. Never tried it on my (legal) pal version. I also think the record was held by some gal who did it in 9,5 hours and that might have involved not skipping the fmvs which is even more of a feat but it's been years since then and it's probably been surpassed.

I don't understand what joy comes from speed runs. When I play an RPG, even if I've already beaten it before, I milk that shit for every drop.

Albeit, FFIX has that Excaliber II for anyone who can beat it in less then 12 hours, but unless that weapon makes a wad of cash materialize on top of my PS, I won't be spending 12 hours of my life speed running.
