Final Fantasy VII Remake

Either that or he has miraculously found a pirated version somewhere. At least that is the only version I could find. And if that is the case, then THAT is wrong! Pirating FF7 when you can get it for such a cheap price!

Thing is if they ever made a remake they would have to change the "tone" of the game. I don't even want to imagine the Cloud from say Advent Children (the look that is) crossdressing or riding that dolphin in Junon. It worked because the graphics was already abit goofy. Thing is they would change stuff like that, small details that as a whole makes the game great which is why I would never personally want a remake. Just imagine how much they would upgrade and change the combat system for instance to fit into the modern generation.

With that said, I think if you are to ever attempt a remake you should change some things, what's the point otherwise? I just don't think Square Enix could make it good, they would change just about all the wrong things.
Especially looking at the direction the series are going in now.

Supposely they will be releasing a FFVII remake for the PS3 or PS4 AFTER Square Enix makes a better game than FFVII.... I think the remake will never come

What makes you think they'd change the tone? If anything, they could flesh out aspects of the game. Imagine Final Heaven using modern graphics, or Cloud's mind rape in the Nibelheim in his head. Hell, imagine the ending in HD. I't doesn't have to change it. They could make it better.

The things they might change(or that i'd like to see changed at any rate) would that friggin chest in Kalm. The on that doesn't open.

they would more than likely add voices (preferably the same voices from the movie) as well.

i really hope they don't mess with the gameplay because that's part of what made the gameplay great.

however with updated graphics they'd definitely have to rate it M because of the language, violence, and honeybee inn scene.

I want one, but i'm not confident that Square-Enix in its current state would do it justice. And surely a remake imply that there are modifications and additions compared to a remaster like what is going on with FFX+X-2 wheras the changes seem to be graphical and musical.

I want one, but I don't. Eurgh. I love the game so much and wouldn't want to see it ruined but at the same time if it was done right I could reach new levels of love for the game.

@LeonaFirewater Aye. In regards to the 5 Things we wont see. I have to disagree with most of these except maybe Wall market; but maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing. It freaked me out if anything.
In regards to the development of Cloud. Maybe if Meteor hadn't hit he'd be a bit less uptight! ;). I think if it were to be remade they would use the Cloud more associated with the original. I'm not sure if his development this way was intentional but i'm sure the dev's have noticed it.
And finally. Would FF7 be all that bad with a stripped down Wall market? I never enjoyed that segment much anyway; I think that was aimed more at the Japanese market if im honest. Sure it was funny but.. meh. And surely just remove the Barrett date option would sort another thing out? I couldn't bare not being sarcastic

These 3 articles, whilst having some valid points, are blowing the things way out of proportion. Would people really kick up a storm about Avalanche being eco-terrorists and Dyne falling to his death? I'm not so sure.. then again; it totally wouldn't surprise me. People love to complain over nothing.

Is anyone else not really interested in a remake? I would probably still buy it if it was remade but I like the game just the way it is. I want a full-blown sequel.

They should make a remake because it would make them money. They are probably just waiting for the right time.

I used to be against a remake but honestly I'd love it and it's what SE needs IMO. They have been downright garbage after X. This game would make them so much money and I can't understand for the life of me why they won't/aren't doing it yet. I mean they made a tech demo for the ps3 so fucking go with it! Dont give me the whole "oh it'll take time and cost money to make." No shit!!
Instead we have this XIII garbage being made that they think fans care about and having Lightning shoved in our faces. As if she's really that good anyways.
YEAH! XIII IS THE BEST GAME AND LIGHTNING IS THE BEST CHARACTER IN THE FF UNIVERSE! Said nobody ever.

The only reason I'd want a remake is so it fits my monitor. PSN version is from the old days with tiny 800x600 screen. Them black bars be distracting!

That's the ONLY reason? Some are easily pleased! I'd love a remake, but I'd hope it wouldn't be just graphical. I hope they'd maybe add a few extras too.

Simply because its on PSN, I don't have any other reason to want a remake cause its readily there for people to play again(provided they have a PSP or PS3, cause PSOne Classics can't be played on the upcoming PS4).

Part of their reason for not bothering is that all of the original FFVII team is gone(its just an excuse :P).

I think maybe one of the reasons they arn't doing it yet is because they want to establish themselves as a company that can succeed on it's own games and not have to do remakes of the previous company's games. Food for thought.

it would be nice, but I have this feeling that they'd somehow remake it in a way which doesn't look or feel like the sort of game i'd want to play. that they would fundamentally change it in a way where it looks too "cute" or the graphical overhaul just won't honor the original game and will be too much of a departure. I think part of the reason the character style of 7 appealed to me so much was due to the cell shading. it just worked for me. many other games that have been made since this game which cartoonify the characters (4 heroes of light for example) just don't appeal to me.

I don't think its going to happen anyway though.

Hmm...I used to want it to be remade and didn't understand why SE wouldn't if they were/are remaking other FF's, but that was when I was younger and didn't understand anything. Then as SE kept releasing FF7 stuff to "continue" or "explain" the story, I realized all they were doing was milking it as much as they could. After that, I decided that I want SE to leave at least the original alone because with what they've been doing these days, they would probably just ruin FF7 if they were to remake it. Also, after reading these recent comments about how they should leave it alone because the game is a classic and so legendary, I would have to agree.

Unless...

...the upgraded version has that same magic FF7 had, but games these days are made too real to have that "magic". Sure, realistic graphics and superb voice acting are nice, but what made FF7 so great, I think, was that you could not hear the characters' voices or see their facial expressions; you had to imagine it, you had to read what was going on, you had to put the emotions into it. Even so, so many of us cried when Aeris died and Cloud made his speech with her in his arms. His Lego arms. Sometimes it's better to have old graphics and text to tell a story rather than being given all the great technology we have and see in video games today. SE hasn't been doing well. I think they'll just ruin FF7 if they remade it. And, no, I don't want them integrating anything they've done to the story after the original. I believe whatever they made up after the original was just fan service.

If they were to remake it, I would want them to just upgrade the graphics, text, menu and text box color(s), and some extra bonuses (side quests, more story or character revelation scenes that aren't dumb).

I would love a remake of VII, in fact I'd like a remake of FFI - VII because I can't really get into them because they're so old which is a real shame, but I've tried and I just can't seem to do it. I can play VII, but I don't enjoy it as much as the later games and I think a lot of that has to do with the way the characters look.

So you say it's a great game but only with lowered expectations? So it's not really a great game, it's only good if you go in there expecting it to be crap instead? Nobody expects the new games to be like the old, they expect the new games not to be worse than the old though and I don't think that's wrong.

Xx..xX

no im saying that if you don't play it expecting it to be like, say, FFVII... it may be an FF game but each is a stand alone... though I will agree it wasnt the best ever made but it is still a great game... no matter what people seem to think the chars were great and so was the story... people really just complained about things just cause it wasn't what they expected it to be... and they expected it to be like the older FF games

:O your statement is invalid cause you just said it....

I've given XIII more than enough chance. I don't dislike it because of the other FF games I love, I dislike it because there's pretty much nothing at all about the game that I like, not the characters, or the story, or the gameplay, or the world or the side quests (which are both pretty much nonexistent). I've even played the game again in an attempt to enjoy it, but nope, there's nothing there for me to enjoy. It would have been okay for the story not to be so good if I'd enjoyed the gameplay (ala XII) or for the gameplay not to be great if I'd liked the story, but for me there was nothing at all to like about FFXIII (other than it's sequel). It's not because I have high expectations for it. It's because I didn't like it, as a stand alone game or as part of the FF series.
