Final Fantasy VII - The Web Series

This looks so cool! Live action film of final fantasy VII would be amazing! Just looking at the details they are putting into production makes me really excited about this :) i really hope they can obtain enough money to get this going.

Idk, I think it's an admirable cause and web series to pursue, but I'll need a little more convincing until I'm willing to pitch in any money for this project. Plus, it's quite interesting how they already earned almost $22k and the kickstarter project has only been active since July 22nd.

So far, I've only seen cast members for Barret (good), Tifa (also okay), and Aerith -- although she was from the original "FFVII: The Movie" project, so there's no guarantee of her appearing at all. She was pretty good, too, I thought. I think it's great that they're emphasizing the high quality nature of this project and the use of professionals -- but if it were a bunch of amateurs, do you really think they would've earned that much money already for this project ? I think not, lol.

Not hating on the idea, but I'd just like to see more of what they have to offer! :]

I'm massively skeptical. I've not backed anything to date on kickstarter and I doubt this will by my first. I just can't imagine it being any good. The intentions are clearly there but it's going to be difficult for it to not end up looking like some shit cosplay attempt. As soon as I saw Aeris I cringed. And (this could've been answered in the video but I only watched half..) what is it going to be? The game redone as a film or a pre/sequel? If it's original story then I'd be interested to read a synopsis but I think as a whole the story is pretty fleshed out for the most part. I'd love to be proved wrong but I doubt I will. I dread to think how awful any fight scenes would look.. That shit is difficult to do professionally..
 
The idea is great. I tried to donate a dollar but I had to go through kickstarter, then facebook, then amazon, and amazon was still acting like a piece of crap so I just gave up. Dam they sure do make it hard to spend you money dont they?

I like the idea of it, and the amount of money they have raised so far is impressive. I can't see it being anything more than a total letdown though. I mean, there's professional actors and professional actors.

I think it's best just to leave well alone.
 
Anyone that was curious about this... guess what? Square is not allowing it to happen...

· The project itself is in infringement of our copyrights and should be removed in its entirety from Kickstarter.

· The project itself admits it is an unofficial fan project in its title “Final Fantasy VII: The Web Series (Unofficial Fan Project).

· The description of the project itself claims to use the copyrighted characters and events of Final Fantasy VII.

I doubt they would have reached their goal anyways.

I could have sworn it read in the article that they had received permission from Square Enix to do the project though.
