Will there be Final Fantasy XIV and XV? Some believe that Final Fantasy XIII may be the last Final Fantasy game. However, Square Enix has already patented "Final Fantasy XIV" and "Final Fantasy XV" monikers. The "Final Fantasy XVI" moniker has yet to be patented. Square Enix is still working on Final Fantasy XIII and vXIII and has other installments in the Fabula Crystallis compilation to make. Before there could be Final Fantasy XIV, Square Enix also has Kingdom Hearts 3 to make, and possibly a Final Fantasy VII remake.

Very true, though I would think due to XIII being a 10 year project they are more likely to release spin-offs to the series rather than re-make other games^_^

Anyway, I do believe there will be a XIV and XV, however, I do not think it will be for the PS3, with XIII being a 10 year project that will probably see them through the PS3 lifespan. So I would imagine by time XIV comes, it will be for the PS4 at least. >_<
 
Final Fantasy XIII itself is not actually a ten-year project, but it is only part of that project. The ten-year project is the Fabula Nova Crystallis series (the compilation of Final Fantasy XIII).

We know, its easier to just say XIII as that's what it essentially is. :rolleyes:

There will be a XIV but not for some time. Maybe after XIII and versesXIII are complete they will consider starting it as they may just plan to make the rest of the compilation small games like AgitoXIII and not large ones like the main XIII. I can see it coming along during the arse end of the PS3's lifespan with XV potentially kicking off the next Gen console.
 
I would hate to see the series die, but in the same respect since every game (in my opinion) since FF7 hasn't come close to matching FF7 it would take a lot to get me take it off the top spot, and find a new game to over play.
 
If they do make them, my expectations aren't high. XII was a great dissapointment & I'm refusing to by XIII until I have heard any decent reviews.
I expect they probably will unless XIII goes down the pan xD
They need to back off with all these spin offs and sequels though. Its getting beyond a joke >>
 
FFVII remake seems very likely and lucrative for SE as well.
I think that once the new game engine is complete, things will speed up a little. I doubt that FFXIII will be the only PS3 FF, just as FFX wasn't the only FF for PS2. I would be happy with just a FFVII remake to go with the XIII and its spinoffs though.

And this is definitely not the last Final Fantasy.

Perhaps SE will come up with something totally new for XIV and XV.
 
i dont know what would i doo if the stop making more games, so i hope they gone make XIV, XI and more more more
 
According to Sony, the PlayStation 3 is out of the woods, i.e. that they are no longer facing retail difficulties, thus recovering from that launch mistake. Final Fantasy XIV and XV WILL be for PS3.
 
First I thought the series would end with XII, but now with XIII being made, I'm gonna hold out until XX and then see what happens :)

Like I said...Square is now on the Profit Mood of fanboys and they are suckin all their money while they can...
I think that the series wont go down that easy tho...I currently want to get my hands on Final Fantasy 1 PSP...
 
I read somewhere that Nomura was making XIII be his last Final Fantasy as he is going to focus more on KH now. I would assume they will keep the teams they have working on the XIII project around for the duration of the XIII project, and get new teams completely different from the XIII teams working on XIV and XV. I'm sure the higher up people in Square are already thinking about who should direct XIV. So I'm guessing just like the other big FF project compilation of FF7 which is running alongside the main sereis XIII will keep producing new games even as XIV and XV are being made.
 
I think they'll end up keep on making FF games so long as there is interest. FF is probz the leading RPG game out. Speaking of which i can play the fabula nova crystallis piano song in the trailler...kinda strange for such a short notice...i think FFXIII will have more piano songs in its soundtrack like FFX did
 
Square is a business and if there's a secured market out there and a decent profit to be drawn from it, well they're not going to pass up on that.

I think we're pretty safe for the meantime.

Not exactly. To be more exact, Nomura said that Final Fantasy Versus XIII is the last Final Fantasy game that he would direct.
