That last bit is where you know it won't be. Why an MMO? They'd have to have evidence to show that and it would have to be taken from FFXI and that hasn't got the fanbase that the likes of VII, IX, X etc, have and in our current day FFXIII and FFXIII Versus will have a bigger fanbase than FFXIV will ever have. It may be a decent game, but the best? I somewhat doubt it.
Without a doubt that will happen at some point, and I'm sure Sony know this anyway even if they did announce it as exclusive. Square Enix will lose a lot of possible money if they didn't put it on the 360.
Again, I very much doubt it will live up the likes of FFVII, IX and X.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone moan about it not being researched, FFXI players may have but not the average FF fan.
No it won't, the trailer didn't even impress me to be honest, it visually looked good but that's about it, both the first FFXIII and FFXIII Versus has the "wow" factor first time round and I'd put money on that both of those games will eclipse FFXIV by a country mile.
Where do we start here? XD a) You're the one who registered here to give an extremely unconvincing argument that FFXIV will be "THE FF of our time" and b) you made yourself out as if you do nothing but play Final Fantasy XI so your last comment was fairly hypocritical.
No offense meant, but it doesn't seem like it. Traditionally, yes, Single player RPGs have a bigger emphasis on storyline. It's been changing lately though, and more MMO's are incorporating much stronger narratives, and using story telling elements typically only seen in single player games such as cutscenes and the game world changing as you make progress. As far as WoW goes, I won't get into a discussion about whether it's good or not, because that was not the point I was trying to make. I was just using it as an example of an MMO which in it's most recent expansion brought in a stronger focus on the storyline.
