Final Fantasy XIV: Stop whining.

Just three statements I have a problem with:

Complaint #3: They shouldn't number FFXI and FFXVI! They arent Final Fantasy!
Answer: They may not be "chronological", however, they are Final Fantasy. If you ever played FFXI, you will know they talk a shit ton about the crystal war. Not to mention, it has ALL the elements of a regular Final Fantasy game...Chocobos, Air Ships, Summons, Slow-paced running...and, all the jobs ever in the series. Including Blue Mage. If anything, Crystal Chronicals shouldn't be Final Fantasy at all. It's way more far-fetched.

I must be frank, I play FFXI, but I do often forget that I am playing an FF. Weird, I know, but it is only the features included that you mention that sometimes remind me it is an FF. I'm not really a fan of FF:CC, and just as equally I forget that I am playing an FF unless reminded by certain features, so that has just as much right to be an FF as FFXI.

Complaint #4: Everyone you meet on MMO's are mean and stupid.
Answer:No. Just.... No.Chances are, you've probably never played a MMO seriously before if you're saying this. I've met some of the best people ever from playing FFXI. Stop jumping to conclusions.Yeah, we have our fair share of idiots... But that's how real life is, also. I meet them every day at my job. It's unavoidable.

They have met them before else they wouldn't be saying it.

Complaint #5: FFXI=Fail.
Answer: Obviously you've never played the game, and have seen how massively popular it is. What a shame.

People are entitled to their opinions, you have no right to tell them if they're wrong about it. If they don't like it, you can't tell them they are wrong to dislike it.

Bottom line guys: if you like it play it if you dont then dont. I have played every final fantasy game except for ff1 and i gotta say i like them all. FFXI added a new perspective in the final fantasy series and i have played it since it came out in japan (i dont read or write japanese so if you wanna know what hard is try that lol....). The reason they will be coming out with ffxiv as a mmo is cause, well lets face it because of the ps2 on ffxi graphics cant go further than what they are. FFXIV will be on ps3 and pc (so far) with 360 more than likely getting ported over like it did on ffxi so the graphics and gameplay will be better for it. I still play ffxi and will continue to do it even after 14 comes out. Yes, there are idiots on ffxi but if you play WoW and try and say there isnt idiots on there then well i dont know what to tell you. ALL mmo's have idiots that play them. Just so you know those idiots play the offline games as well we just dont have to put up with them lol. Regardless of what they do with ffxiv have fun with it and let the people that wanna play it play it.

so why does anyone... anyone at all assume that the development of ffxi or ffxiv has or will delay/detract from the development of ffx, ffxii or ffxiii? in fact, the battle system of ffxii was a direct result of the battle system developments made in xi.. (of which i'm thankful for -- turn based stagnant systems are BORING)

point is, the reason why it's in the main progression of the series is that the same development staff and work load are going into these games. if we want to talk about a chronological series and progressing a storyline we're not talking about the same games -- ffvii relates to ffxii in the same ways that north korea relates to the south.

the final fantasy games mean to me -- epic, quality work. i expect to see chocobos, moogles (as of late) and Cid in some form or fashion. I expect innovative battle systems and summons so if you've ever spent time playing any of these games (even the mmo's) you'll see that a MASSIVE amount of work and pride went into every single one of the final fantasy franchise.

if you don't like playing mmo's, don't play it. ffxiii is coming out the same year the mmo is -- play that. and in 2 or 3 years down the line the next anti-social friendly installement of final fantasy will come out and entertain you for a while (like it has since square started making ff).

I agree with the OP entirely lol I signed up for this forum for the same reason and found he/she beat me to it I just had to add 2 things to this forum after reading all the posts. in my oppinion it has just truely silly to:
1) complain about it being anouther MMO when they are also working on other RPGs for those of you who seem very angry at MMO players for hogging SE developer time to bring their online options up to todays standards.
2) compairing FFXI to WoW these gameplay in these 2 games is so differant compareing them is laughable. Im sorry to reality check so many of you but WoW is just a oversimplified, much easier, version of FFXI for MMO players who dont like to put a lot of effort to acomplish something its an instant gratification MMO. Granted WoW has MUCH better graphics but some of us actually like to have a challenge in our games. The fact that the average player takes around a year to get their 1st job to 75 and then there are 19 more jobs to level is just 1 example if this. FFXI gets its bad reviews according to what I've seen from the amazeingly high number of people who get frusterated by the massive content and complexity of the game that wacks them in the face on day 1 and quit by day 14. (that is not a proven fact just personal experiance with adopting over 100 noobs to FFXI over the years and them letting me know exactly why they are quiting 95% of those who quit were frusterated due to how hard it was starting out)

This thread is funny. It pretty much comes down to this: FFXVI is numbered, and its going to be an MMO so get over it.

Going by what SE says they learned from their mistakes in FFXI and from taking player suggestions and using some of the best aspects of the other top MMO's (they said namely WoW) are going to combine them an make FFXVI the best it can possibly be.

As for the price, I at times are paying for up to 5 subscriptions at once, at 15$ each, $45 a month. I pay ig gladly because I love the game, the constant updates, additional content and support.

Sure you can buy a console game, but what you get is what you get. By paying the fee your paying for consistent new things to do. I used to always say "screw everquest, you gotta pay monthly for that??" then FFXI came out and was worth every penny. Then wow, now darkfall. Hopefully soon FFXVI also

FFXI was popular but after 5 years u cant espect this game to have all the players like did in 2003 but its the best MMORPG till now tho it has its own problems like any other off/online game.

And lets be honest ik i wrote FFXI was popular and it beat other games in its time, but was WoW the truly worldwide massive game but not cuz all other mmo gamers ran to WoW only, cuz alot ppl that werent into MMOs started to play it, just as an ex: we were 14 RL friends then, only 2 of us were into MMORPGs like UO, ragnarok and argertum and my other 12 friends liked StarCraft, WarCraft, Diablo II, racing games etc... when FFXI got out in NA we both (the ones that played MMORPGs) got it and love it cuz was the best MMORPG we ever tried. When WoW got out 4 of my friends bought it cuz it was blizzard and after seeing how massive it was they got others to play it (only 3 from all of us still dont play MMOs), time has passed and we both still play FFXI, 2/9 quit WoW, 7/9 are ready to move to another good MMORPG asap its out but doubt they all would play FFXI cuz what they want is a good PvP system and SE isnt good at that tho maybe they fix that in FFXIV, id love to have all my RL friends playing FFXIV w/me.

WoW openned the market and now the game is dying cuz it own updates and patchs, there are tons of players that are ready to move to a next online challenge, hope FFXIV gets them and the pussys that want the game ez stay in WoW.

I did play WoW for few months, i wanted to play w/ my RL friends, but found it soooo ez that got me bored tho my friends didnt thought the same, i came back to FFXI and they stay in WoW, now after 3 years they tell me that all what they "worked hard" is now fking ez to get after a patch, they are pissed and just farm or do some endgame stuff when a friend called em for help.

For those that whine for month fees just 1 thing: if u cant pay it...well maybe ud better stop playing offlines games too and look for a better job, $14-$17 isnt that much and if u dont have internet yet and think u need to add the cost only to play a MMO and u cant afford it well run out and get a 2nd job! ur behind a millenium.

I liked and loved FFX, Chronno Trigger, FFVII, FFIV (in that order), didnt play FFXII cuz i was bussy w/ FFXI and doubt id play FFXIII cuz ill be playing FFXIV and that leads me to next point: SE is releasing XIII and XIV same year so everyone should get what they want same year so pick 1 or both and play it.

For those that says FFXI=fail, lets see: FFI was a good game, an innovative game of its time that saved its company but if u compare it to MarioBross sells well its a fail. Im sure that alot of mariobross players (like 9/10) after playing a rpg did quit in 1 day and ran back to jump and break blocks.

For FFXIV matter im sure SE learnt alot from FFXI and other games and will bring to us a revolutionary game again, neither close to FFXI related besides races that is fine w/ me, i want my mithra back in a new world ^^

Im not rich but work hard to get what i want, gonna get married next year and im saving to buy a PS3 and a HDTV 50"+ just to play FFXIV hoping its made more for casual players than the FFXI is.

Too many words for 3 pages, so don't mind if I skip the prior replies. But I agree with Cramshad and find that FFXI is one of the best MMO's out there. It's not the everyday-typical grinding/gear-up game and in fact, SE has successfully incorporated story-play with every aspect of an MMO perfectly.

Although it lacks a few things here and there as compared to the more popular WOW etc., well let's just say that FFXI is in another way an MMO with its oqn unique gameplay.

Why I like it so much would be how comprehensive SE has made it's storyline into.

FFXI might not be a perfect game to some, but I don't think it's fair to put it up to criticism just because of that.

Complaint #2: OH MY GAWD THEY CHARGE LIKE 20-30 DOLLARS A MONTH TO PLAY ONLINE!
Answer: No, not really. At MAXIMUM they charge 12 per month. You're being ridiculous saying that. How do you expect them to maintain the servers? Yeah, Square makes massive profit from games... but a lot of that goes into development for other projects, and keeping up the online servers for heathens like me to enjoy my FF MMO's.

I have 2 words for you, Guild Wars. Its free, its an old MMO from NC, who owns Lineage series, city of heroes/villains (i think) and most recently AION. Well on 2011 Guild Wars 2 is coming out and guess what, its freaking damn free. U have to pay for the game key like any game but no month payments. True that square burns tons of money into developement, they the best Movie class video games so far, and only MGS has such a concern for great graphics in the game. But its also they have huge profits, FF X was just one of the top 20 most sold games for the ps2 console, out passing the FF7 numbers I think... So it its not about the money, and if it is why dont they use a Free/pay system, u pay to have some benefits like more exp/drop rate on the months u can play more time, like vacations, but during the rest of the time u play for free. Loads of games do that and not all of them are crappy.

I gave FFXI a month, and it didnt excite me whatsoever. I really do think they should have been called FF online instead. FFXI doesnt even feel ff-ish. Its alot closer to one of those other random MMORPG's, and the fact that it took the numbered title irritated me since I believe that FF tactics was much more deserving of it, since it actually was ff-like.


FFXIV also irritates me, and it hasnt even come out. Ill give it a try like I did with FFXI, but Im not expecting much

For those of you who DO care, I'll share some new info with you.

Nobou Uematsu finished the FFXIV sound track this week. Personally, I'm very excited he's doing the music. He's a pretty amazing composer.

The official site www.finalfantasyxiv.com has been updated within the past month. They updated the info on a lot of things, and added descriptions to the Gladaitor and Pugilist class.

It's been announced in a magazine that there are female galka and male miqote, but they're debating on it. "The models are made, but we aren't sure how to implement them into the game yet." It's still an iffy subject, but it seems like a good chance.

I never called anybody a tard for not liking MMOs. I called them a tard for throwing a shitfit at the fact that FFXIV is online and how we should just "patch FFXI", even though the technology is severely outdated. It's like me telling you guys to "patch FF1". Same graphics, different story. Wouldn't be very cool, would it?

Okay, explain to me what the problem is with complaining about it being online. It's part of the game,not something false or untrue that we are all coming up with. It's okay to complain about confirmed features of a game. If someone wants to call it "whining" than that's their right. Same to people who look foward to it.

I, for one, am not, because like I stated before I do not have the means to play either. I hate when gaming companies forget about those of us without high speed internet. I bought fable 2 only to find it half finished when I got it. I have dial up, so I couldn't have patched it if I wanted to.

Of course, if you're going to get mad about people stating their opinions, you might as well talk to a wall, as I can assure you they do not whine. Don't make a post in a forum where people will see it and feel the need to respond.
