I've seen these types of topics on other boards, but I was wondering if any of you have ever thought about what you would like to do if you could make a Final Fantasy game yourselves.

I'm sure someone out there's got at least an inkling of something they'd think would look cool as a Final Fantasy game.

This isn't any type of speculation thread, though.
It's purely for fun.

Anyway, I'll be posting my own idea later.

I'd have it centered around a cast of diverse characters with quirks and flaws and have them be fleshed out like real people are. You wouldn't just run into these people, or recruit them on the fly--it'd be much more involved than that, and require you to dig deeper into their lives and such. The storyline would be more mature than the other FF games in terms of symbolism, setting, realism, plot development, and character development. This FF game would be in a more macabre setting, somewhat like Shadow Hearts, and the music would be remixed sitar, piano, acoustic guitar, and music box versions of the various staple themes.

I know, a bit vague, but I really enjoy atmosphere and immersion in the games I play. :)

having the lead character being female, and no not like in X2. just where for once a strong female lead who can be just as complex and intresting as say CLoud or Squall or any of the other well known and popular leads.

I'd make the World Map really big, for one! That way the players can have a vast amound of land to explore, making the gamelength long. The characters would be somewhat in between like Cloud and Squall. Storyline would definitely have something to do with fantasy, nothing realistic.

I'll make FFVIII:AC.

*worships Darksquall*

I'd make a FF game with all the Sexy guys... it would have Squall, Laguna, Irvine, Vincent, Sephiroth, Cloud, Kadaj, Yazoo, Setzer (KH2 ver), Riku, Sora, Auron, Vaan, Balthier, Larsa, Vayne, Luneth and Ingus XD

I would bring back chocobos like they were in FF7 but build on that. I would have maybe 16 breeds and 10 colours or something and depending what breed they are depends on their strengths/weeknesses. And you could race tham and stuff and make it a relly cool side quest!

I'd like to see a game based on Advent children but with a choice of 2 storys/main characters ... Cloud and Vincent

I'm not sure i'd like to see vincent as the main character of a direct sequal to FFVII but the idea is good being able to play an RPG game that is never the same when played over again. A fully open and explorable RPG would be awsome.

Err...ehem...I'm a nerd

Story
WAR!!!
For over a century, war has raged between the Mage nation of Ruhigheim and Warrior culture of Ascher. The end of the war, whose cause has been long forgotten, has been attempted before, but every time and armistice has been called, something has happened to start the war anew.
Finally, the two nations have had enough; the current king of Ruhigheim has reached an agreement with the princess of Ascher. In return for the safety and freedom of her nation, the princess of Ascher has agreed to be "kidnapped" so she can be taken back to Ascher to help the king finally take down the Empress. The king sends his two sons, backed up a Summoner and his Guardian and an old friend of the younger son, to Ascher, in order to bring the princess to Ruhigheim.
Somewhere along the operation, the group is found out, and the elder prince and the friend are forced to leave his brother and protectors, as well as the princess and her entourage, behind in Ascher. This forces them to wander across the great continent Ascher sits on, searching for a place that the Summoner believes to exist, though, he warns, it may not work when they get there.
Along the way, the group learns more about their world from the Summoner and his companion, as well as about a few of the forces which are working in the world. These forces, the Summoner warns, may very well be the reason why the war has continued, and may even be the cause for the terrible monsters which ravage their world: a group of creatures which whose existence is only five-hundred years old, and have been steadily increasing in strength over that time. They also learn about a countermeasure Terra, the planet, has put in place. Four of the six travelers making their way across hide something, a power bestowed on them by the planet at birth.
A power that manifests itself as one of the legendary Crystals.

Characters

Victor Falkeheim - Age 20/21 - Class: Black Mage/Sage
The younger of the Ruhigheim Prince brothers, Victor is a rather timid fellow who doesn't think much of himself. His only real friends are made up of the castle staff and a merchant he met when he was five years old. At first, Victor is considered a Black Mage, since his talents obviously appear to be in Black Magic. However, the minute he meets Cid, he begins to change, quickly becoming stronger in both skill and spirit, eventually to the point that he can stand up to his brother.
Victor enjoys sitting out on the balcony outside of his room, watching the sun set over the ocean while a strong sea breeze blasts at his face.

Cedric Highwind - Age 20 - Class: Summoner
Cedric is a powerful summoner from the Nation of Denegraff on the Continent of Somaria, and the son of the Denegraff's late leader. As a Summoner, Cedric searches for the legendary location of Bahamut's shrine, which has been lost to history. He also does jobs for the Summoners when he's called upon to do so. Otherwise, he's actually the member of a fairly famous band.
Cedric is a very cheerful individual who, despite seeing his father killed in front of him, is no worse for wear...though there seem to be times when an unsettling glint begins to shine in his eyes. He enjoys swimming, surfing, boogy-boarding...any water sport. Also, his late father's personal Summon was Leviathan.

Elena (no last name) - Age: 22 - Class: Ninja/Songstress
Elena is Cedric's Guardian, and thus is responsible for his safety and overall health. The two of them have been close friends since childhood, and at times they are confused with being a couple, though neither feels anything for the other. A member of a group known colloquially as the Red Dragon's Fire Tribe, Elena is able to perform an art known as Ninjutsu, and is able to manipulate others through song and dance. Such are her abilities, she is also known to be very beautiful and charismatic. Elena, however, is considered a traitor to her people, though the reasons why are only known to a few.
Elena herself is a very calm, but very active person with a temper easily triggered by things she finds annoying or insulting. Otherwise, the girl's nice to be around.

Bianca Rabastan - Age: 23 - Class: Paladin
A true knight of Ascher. Bianca initially accompanies Her Lady, Princess Nadia, out of Ascher along with the group from Ruhigheim and the Princess' boy toy/official body guard. At times, Bianca can be fairly serious and a little inflexible, but her dedication is solely to good causes and good people. Her seriousness is due to the severity of her job, looking after her princess and making sure no harm comes to her. Later, after being released from service, Bianca begins to relax a little, though she still remains stable and dependable.
Partly as a request by Nadia, Bianca started studying White Magic as a squire, a taboo art in anti-Mage Ascher.

Nadia Corina di Phaenesca XIV - Age: 20 - Class: Huntress (Ranger)
Though Princess of Ascher and the only child of the Ascherian Royal Family, Nadia, as she's called by her closest friends, ironically doesn't look the part. More of a tomboy than Bianca, Nadia enjoys doing many things alone that nobles would do with aid of servants (like dragging kills home). Even in formal gowns, she exudes strength and determination, much like her mother, who Nadia surprisingly is at odds with. She is very skilled in her chosen class.
Nadia witnessed the brutal murder (or at least part of the brutal murder) or her father, claiming that it was at the hands of her mother. Because of this, Nadia initially made numerous attempts on her mother's life, only to be thwarted by the Queen's greater skill and guile. Her failures eventually force her to turn to her nation's arch-nemesis, Ruhigheim, for aid.

Orion de Orestes - Age: 26 - Class: Thief/Monk
A foundling raised in an ocean-side community, Orion never knew his parents or his real name. An old, retired Dragoon by the name of Draupnir was the one who gave Orion his name and cared for him until he died. Afterwards, Orion joined the Orestes Pirates, using his extraordinary skills in martial arts to easily take down guardsmen or his deft fingers to pick-pocket. His luck ran out when his company pilfered a mansion that turned out to be the Phaenesca Dynasty's summer home. Nadia saved his neck (literally) when she requested that her mother make him her new bodyguard; she reasoned that a thief would know the best way to protect her against all types of "unsavory characters." Orion quickly took a liking to his job, and then to Nadia as she grew into a young woman. They're now...involved, something Bianca regularly discovers every other day.

Aleksander Mithandyr - Age: 56 - Class: Dragoon
Aleksander your everyday middle-aged warrior whose seen it all, knows it all, and has done it all. A dragoon, Aleksander works as a merchant with his family manning the ship and participating in the "family business." Formerly from the Republic of Frejheim, Aleksander is known to be the last Dragoon formally trained by the masters which once lived there...before Ascher invaded and enslaved the people. Aleksander despises the war between Ruhigheim and Ascher, and has a few choice words for the royalty of both nation.
Despite his distaste for some of the things happening in the world, Aleksander is a very cheeful and forgiving person. He is a close friend of the young Prince Victor, who calls him "Coros" because of the Prince's inability to pronounce his name when they first met. (the prince was very young at the time. "Coros" cares deeply about Victor, almost as if the young prince was a second son.
Victor's met his entire family.

I would make FFX-3. A prequel to FFX taking you through Braska's Pilgramage through Spira with his two Guardians Auron and Jecht. Jecht would be the main playable character. The battle System would be similar to KH. The story would start off similar to FFX: Jecht gets whisked into Spira gets locked up in Bevelle then taken out by Braska (despite Auron's opinions) with the hope of going back to Zanarkand. Also a background on Auron would be given: A Warrior Monk cast away from the temples because he refused the hand of a Preist's daughter in marriage, meets Braska and agrees to be his Guardian. A background on Braska would also be given: An Apprentice Summoner becomes Summoner and weds an Al Bhed traveller despite his Families opinions and has a half Al Bhed daughter named Yuna named after the first summoner to defeat Sin: Lady Yunalesca. Backgrounds would obviously be developed throughout the game and it would end with Jecht becoming the Final Summoning, defeating Sin then killing Braska and finally fading away into Pyreflies. Now a long FMV will show Auron going to seek revenge for Jecht and Braska by attacking Lady Yunalesca but gets pwned and found at the bottom of Mt. Gagazet by a younger Kimahri who he tells to go to Bevelle and find the daughter of the High Summoner quickly before news spreads of Sin's defeat at which point the game will end and Credits wil be shown and if you watch through them you get a short FMV showing Jecht talking to an unseen entity (Yu Yevon) at the Farplane.

Jecht "Well what are you waiting for?"
Yu Yevon "Funny...I've never seen somebody so eager to be Spira's suffering before"
Jecht "Can we get this over with already?"
Yu Yevon "Ofcourse...there is much that needs to be done"
Jecht "Yeah..."

Then Jecht closes his eyes and sees a younger Tidus running towards him with his hands outstretched as a bright light consumes him.

myne would twist with ff7 and ff8, it would include romance, pain, passion.
not to mention would be cel shaded :)

I'd make the game open-ended and first person, like the Elder-Scrolls series of games. Great graphics, action-oriented, however, the main character's name will be set as Alex, Sam, or something androgynous like that so they could use the same name in spoken word despite having a male or female starting character. The world will be huge (just like the Elder Scrolls games) The main storyline will branch drastically depending on groups you join, who you ally with, etc. And, out of all the NPCs, you will be able to choose from 25 party members, restricted again by the groups you join and other allies. Each of the party members are playable by pressing a button that scrolls through the characters currently in your party, once again, through actions like this, the storyline branches even more, bringing up memories (cinematics) and parts of the character's personality depending on what happens. This way, the game is vast and has an immense replayability due to all the character combinations to play with or as.

It's a vague idea, but I think it'll make for an awesome experience.

Game #1

For one, I'd COMPLETELY do away with the Sci-Fi setting. I hate this. I'd make it a more medieval setting. You name your own character, design him or her down to the size of his/her toes! :P Pick the character's race/class. Everytime you talk to someone, multiple options will appear. The story changes depending on which option you choose. For example, you've just woken up and someone is leaning over you, making sure you're OK. You could have options like "...Mother?" or "Who are you?" or "What happened?"

Every turn you take changes the game. Eventually you'll meet up with other people and make a party. You should be able to name them too. The game could even have a feature where you type in how the name is pronounced, and that name will be used throughout the game. NPCs have preset names, though. It would be cool if you could upgrade your characters classes. For example, an Archer could be upgraded to a Sniper (improves bow range and damage, etc) or a Warrior could be upgraded to a Paladin, Dragoon, Guardian or Knight. Mounted battles should be available. Weapons and armour are bought. Every time you equip new items, your ingame design changes.

The battle system revamped. Kind of like XII, but before heading into battle, you can give your characters a series of orders (kind of like how the commands are built up on The Sims) and you give the final word and they'll go and do it. You switch to another party member at the touch of a button. The game should have a controlable camera, and it's free roaming.

The plot will be intertwined, depending on what options you've taken. For example, you might have said something, and decided to go to a place. If you were to go to a different place, something plotwise would have changed. Every time you play the game you'll get a different outcome. Some bosses might not appear in one game but will in others.

I also prefer Level-Up systems. Abilities are learned, depending on what class you are. You should have the option of being two classes. Like, a Level 2 Warrior, but a level 1 black mage. The second class should be weaker than original, or you could have the option to switch them some point in the game.

Cinematics are incorporated into the game. You'll see some FMV's one time, another play through you won't. These, like the plot, depend on the path you choose.

Game #2

You take every single character from every single Final Fantasy. Recreate them into the PS3's graphics, and then stick them in a fully interactive 3D area/environment. It's a Tekken-style game. 1-on-1 (or on an online multiplayer, it could be 3-on-3). You hit the buttons and try and do combos and abilities to beat your opponent. At special times, you could even do Limit Breaks/Trances/Overdrives etc.

You start off able to play all of the protaganists of that game (press R1/L1 to change to different games (it'd be impossible to fit everyone onto one screen). To win the ability to play as Minor-Characters, you must defeat Arcade Mode with someone. (In IX, this would be people like Blank, etc). To play as a Villain, EG. Kuja, Sephiroth, you must play arcade mode as a Minor-Character.

You can pit people from different games into a battle. For example, it could be Terra VS Yuna. There could be an option for a free-for-all, eg:

Cloud VS Squall VS Zidane VS Tidus VS Vaan

Each character has special abilities. Every time you win a battle (whether on Arcade, or just a one off CPU Vs Player match,) you gain points. These points go towards new combos, weapons, abilities, armour you can equip/use. You could equip a character with "Loudmouth" so no one in a match can silence you, etc. Lulu could battle so she would learn "Fira" all the way up to "Flare" and "Ultima".

White Mages are a bit harder to train. But, if they're summoners like Eiko and Yuna, they're worth it. They could summon their Summons into battle, and you have to kill that summon, but, if you do, you win the match. The more summoners win battles, the quicker they can summon more powerful summons. White Mages can heal themselves in battle. Eiko/Aerith could Holy your ass to oblivion :P

Arcade Mode could be filled with battles. 20 Battles? Each getting harder as you go along. It could either be a monster battle, or a battle against a character from that FF. For example, If Cloud unlocked Zack, Zack is the final Battle. Then, on Zack's playthrough, he could unlock Sephiroth?

I think those two games would be F'ing amazing.

I'd like to see a game based on Advent children but with a choice of 2 storys/main characters ... Cloud and Vincent

I think that would be cool, too.

Maybe you can have a Final Fantasy that you can pick a series of main characters... Each character that you pick has their own unique story that ties into the plot... (like you could play as Aeris instead of Cloud and get her perception from it...). I'm going to college for English right now, and one of the reoccuring ideas I have was to have the same story from two different perspectives which would give it a nice little spin on the same story. Eh, that's kind of like FFVI or Resident Evil 2, huh?

I keep trying to think of some ideas, but every idea I have thought of has been done already...

I would make a FF Tactics type game but multiplayer. There aren't enough multiplayer ffs (or RPGs for that matter).

I agree!!! There definately aren't enough multiplayer RPGs.
