I like to flee/escape battles to try to complete an RPG quicker. However the developer usually ends up outsmarting people who use this tactic by making bosses or an ending boss really tough so that, if you escaped a bunch of battles, you now have to spend the time you saved level-grinding to make up for it in order to be tough enough to defeat said boss.
In the long-run, fleeing battles takes away EXP which could have gained you levels to help you, and you'll end up more weak and might have to skip additional battles over it which you actually wanted to complete. As I get more experienced playing such games, I kind of curb my sloppy ways of playing which an ideal player perhaps might not have used.
