Flying the airships for no reason for hours...

I did fly a lot the airship without a reason, mainly in order to hear the BGM.
I really like the BGM of the airships in any FF I have played so far, and it is always the reason to fly more than I need.

I sometimes missed the location I was planning to go to (I think it was on purpose :P) and then saying "Oops, guess I'll have to go around the world, as I am too lazy to turn around and return".

I have many times liked to reach the end of the worldmap in order to appear from the other side :highfive:.

iv done tht, on ff8 when u get the airship from balmb garden i flew tht around for ages, but i also did the driving further on in the game, i wasted a lot of money but because of seed level i kept gettin it back, was quite good because i relli didnt have any training to do and i didnt want to end the game

Yep I used to do that alot in FFVIII, mainly because it was such a nice change from the slow-ass floating Balamb. The Ragnarok just zooms right off that it got to be a pretty enjoyable experience for me. I'd only do it for a few minutes at a time though...no make-up stories and the like. I honestly do not remember how FFVII and FFIX's airship were like or if they were fast or what. Ragnarok just stood out more to me.

Oh yeah!

You guys mentioning the music.... That was another thing I did. I'd always love listening to the music, and sometimes I'd even try to make the airship dance to the tunes... I'd go up and down and left and right in tune to the music. Or as near as it felt anyway. :awesome:

Airships = pure win, honestly.

I completely agree with you Argor, airships are teh shit! I really wish the new games would have them too...

I'm finding myself flying around in Revenant Wings just because I remembered this thread :gasp: The map's pretty small though, so I circle around for a bit and then land. The ship can't go up or down either, it's cool when the 'wings' move when you slow down. :wacky:

I did this on ff9 alot, on my first playthrough when i saw the shadow on the seas to the garden in the sky i was convinced i would find loads of secrets so i spent ages looking around.

I have bad luck with Airships alot of times. Haha. Especially in FFVII. Every time I'd try to go around and fly for no reason I'd run into an epic monster. lol.

I loved going around looking for places I didn't look for before just in case I missed a side event. Like i found the place where you get Eden in VIII by accident. It was quite the discovery for me. =D.

I love flying airships. They are amazing. My favorite had to be the Highwind in VII. It seemed like going from VII's Highwind to VIII's Ragnarok....the Ragnarok seemed aloott slower. =/.

In FFVII I usually fly around in the airship all the time. Tis' fun to pretend you're being chased by something or racing another airship. I also liked tilting the airship a bit left, and it would continue straight kind of like drifting sort of speak. The longest I flew the airship was I think 9 hours. (Was thinking of how I wanted to defeat Sephiroth in the final battles, plus I made up a little game and it was quite entertaining at the time.)

Oh airships... How I love to hate thee.

Okay, let me chica-chica break it down. Every single time a game gives me an airship I immediately find myself lost. Why? I fly around like an idiot. So, off I go... Flying around... And... Oops... Where am I now? Every single time.

So yes, I do fly around in airships for hours but not on purpose. Okay, so I guess it's my own stupidity for taking a joyride in the first place and not looking at the darn map.

Oh boy! I didn't even do this intentionally at first! I'd be trying to get somewhere and I'd get stuck, or I couldn't get a good parking spot. I'd end up on the other side of the planet, and ended up messing around before going to the new area. Then when Mom would leave, I'd also go into the spaceship to better learn my skills. My favorite goof around spot would have to be putting the ship right on top of Treno. XD

Usually in the Highwind or the Ragnarok, I'd fly round aimlessly, making dramatic turns and stuff. All the while I'd have songs from Top Gun in my head, like Danger Zone, Mighty Wings, and Faltermayer's Top Gun Theme.

Those were the days...

Flying with the airship in FF is one of the most amazing thing of the game and it is a shame that FFs after IX lack of this possibility.
I still do it now because I love flying freely discovering the world or just visiting the places where I stayed during the story development.
Sometimes, in fact, I just like going around searching for "new"places and I imagine to be a sky hunter searching for treasures and beautiful landscapes. Other times I like flying over the world to have a nostalgic travel visiting old places and travel through again the story. Also flying low over the sea until you reach an island is awesome!
In FFVIII I also enjoy following trains and stop their way O:

Ragnarock is my favourite airship: I like its "dragon style" and its futuristic look in addition to its epic theme song...and you find it in space! It's designed for space flights! It's too cool!
