Since a couple of you requested a lighter theme for the site, we can see about setting up the default vBulletin skin and updating that. But we'd like to see if there's enough interest since the default skin is in need of severe updates.

Issue with having a light and dark theme together? Colored font clash. Nothing we can do to fix that, really.

:hmmm: I remember we had a white background before and the default font colour was completely invisible on it. Is there a way to change the default font colour depending on the skin? Or a way so that the font colour can be seen on both skins somehow (when white is chosen for a black background, but someone else is using a white background)?

Regardless, I think a skin for both a light and a dark background would be best...if it can be done well etc :)

I used to post on on a forum which had light and dark skins and I often had to change between light and dark in order to read different posts. :/

I think it would be best to go for one of the two. I have always preferred dark skins, so that's my first choice, but I'd choose a light skin over a choice between the two.

I always prefer darker forums, I have no idea why. I just feel everything is easier to read rather than having everything so bright, it can be quite hard sometimes when people post in silly font colours though, but you can normally get round that by highlighting what that person has said.

why can't you people vote for both god damn it :rage:

you guys wanna take away our rights to choose!

you hate america! :hal:

dark is better, works well with most font colors and it easier on the good old eyes

Except that's actually my problem with the darker skins--they hurt my eyes. Well, not the darker skins themselves, but the fact that fonts have to be bright in order to show up on the dark background. Bright text on dark background constitutes retina burn like nothing else.

this discussion requires one gif....

having a white skin and a black skin is stupid because if someone is using a black skin with white font then people using the white skin will not be able to see it and vice versa.
Just stick with one colour.

who cares if there's a font incompatibility. if people see a giant empty post because someone uses white font (who uses white font by choice? 8( ) hopefully they can put two and two together and highlight the post in order to read it. it's not that hard, i've been on tons of forums and they allow multicolored themes. if someone uses white/light fonts then others will just change their color when reading it.

like i have to do anyway :hal:

Exactly, man. I don't know how many times i've gotten headaches after reading giant walls of text constructed solely from shit-green, rip-your-eyes-out-pink, piss-yellow, please-god-no-red, or psycho-blue.

it's infuriating. :rage: it makes me feel like im using 1990's internet :rage:

I'm not highlighting fucking posts to read them.
you won't have to. you want the dark theme right? well, virtually every text color will show up on your preferred theme. i doubt people using the light themes will choose black/grey text unless it's the default text. in which case, it should look like the default text for the dark theme for you.

the only thing changing in the situation is that people will get to use a light theme for once.

People using light pinks, yellows and things on the dark forum means people using the light forum will have to highlight all that person's posts if they want to read it.. I think that's a bit annoying.

Another question of black or white. What a racist thread :hmph:

Also, you guys took away the female and male signs too, that would also make you lot anti gender :watching:

As long as I've been a member here the default was for the dark skin, so that's what I'm voting for. I tried the light one and I wanted to rip my freaking eyes out whenever I tried to read posts with lighter fonts. Dark skins can be seen by everyone with two working cornea and retinas (even if it is painful, sorry Luke :(), so I'm voting for that one. ...and f what Judy said about going back and forth between light and dark skins to read individual posts or highlighting posts so I can read them. If I have to do that I don't think I will be posting much here anymore :ffs:

well then people using white will have to deal with that. we should still have the option though :hmmm:
