Fossil roo - the dreaded place

If I had to classify any place in the game as a 'maze', Fossil Roo would be it. You have to go back and change the levers SO many times and it gets annoying when you can't remember where to go. After all the times I have played it, I still have trouble finding where to go.

Yeah, Fossil roo was just plane evil by Square's part. I tired to do it for a little while and then went and got an online guide. It wouldnt be so bad if Fossil Roo area was like FFXII in that there are no random battles, once you beat the enemies they are gone, what killed me was the encounters as I ran back n forth trying to figure out what I was suppose to do

Okay, so after spending who knows how many minutes running back and forth through this god-forsaken place, I figured out where I was going wrong. The levers and such are easy enough to figure out... but climbing along the vines on that wall was frustrating. Until I remembered that if you go really slowly the statues don't spit water out at you. So simple yet so hard.

playing it first time, you probably get to pick up every treasure in that place before you find the exit. and now...after having gone through the game like 4 times...and remembering exactly which way you have to go...it still feels uncomfortable being there

Ah yeah I remember that place...in the german version (at that time I was like 12 years old and didn't speak a word german lol) I got hopelessly stuck there. The enemies packed a pretty good punch there too, so I also died. But thankfully a walkthrough helped me get out, although in the english version I played recently, I didn't have any problems finding my way.

I just finished this place again. Not my first time, but I wasn't looking forward to it.

I don't think it was all that bad, a little tedious and annoying, but not terrible. You just gotta keep focused. I always found it harder getting to the excavation site than getting to the end.

I always forget how to get there so I can get to that stupid moogle and get his letter. >_<

I remember hating Fossil Roo the first few times I played through the game, but I just recently went through it again and it wasn't so bad. In fact, I only got into 1 random battle the entire time I was in the place.

When I first played FFIX, Fossil Roo was so damn confusing, but I'd like to think now after a couple of play throughs I can comprehend it some more.

Going one way just to open a switch to go ANOTHER way, so time consuming X_X

I actually didn't mind it! Although it can get annoying with the random battles, but I used that opportunity to learn abilities for my characters. I do get annoyed with all the different paths because Im constantly going back and forth to make sure I got everything. I know where most everything is,Im just always afraid I'll miss something!

I thought it wasn't that bad. And I don't do many side missions and thus my guys aren't very high levels.

C'mon, guys. I blasted through that place in two hours, with a bunch of level-gains to boot. Plus, I couldn't wait to see the new continent. It was neat, though. I appreciated the puzzles and overall challenge of FF9's dungeons. Better than the cakewalks of FF7 and FF8. Maybe it's because I grew up on dungeon crawlers. ; )

(hint: you should try and make a map)

Oh Jeezuz, I remember Fossil Roo. :gasp: Honestly, it wouldn't really even be that bad if it weren't for those monsters popping up every few steps.

I can remember seeing the end to the tunnel. I was all, "ZOMG LIGHT," then I ran towards it and was faced with a random battle two steps away from the door. flkasdjflaksj. But then faced with the challenge of the new continent, so I was coo'. 8DD

On the positive side? I gained ten levels. Fweeee~

Fossil Roo is horrible.

I had a much meaner sentence in my head, but I think I've gone overboard with the swearing today. XD

Anyway, this place caused many fights between me and Mom. We just for the life of us couldn't make it out of there in a timely fashion. No guide or walkthrough or skip in the park helped either. Getting out of there and seeing sun light finally was a great feeling. If I had my way, I'd go Minecraft on it and set the inside on fire.
