They are pretty useful to me as well except I don't like setting them up. It took a while to get used to them as well but after you get the hang of it, they become a very useful thing to have. I think this battle system was unique and handy overall. I'm more of a fan of the older battle systems though! :P It's a nice change though but it's definitely not my favorite battle system.

Basically, what this system do is to help you. You waste a lot of time trying to do everything manually so this system is perfect for this type of battle system. By using gambits, your allies becomes another player trying to support you.

I have mixed feelings about the Gambit system. On one hand it lets you control just one character without having to worry about giving out commands to 2 other characters, but on the other hand, it's extremely limited. Gambits don't work out of range, they use that dumb 'priority' thing which means that one character will use just one technique over and over unless you're really careful/know what you're doing, and it takes a while to get used to.

That's my take.

Not only is it helpful in very difficult battles, but it makes the game a helluva lot quicker and easier to play on a general basis.

At first I didn't use Gambits because I didn't want to spend all the time setting up a different fighting style for each and every single character. However, when I got into intense battles and just deep parts of the game, it made commanding around my main characters sooooo much easier. I didn't have to stop the game, pause it, or delay a battle to revive a fallen comrade because any of my 3 would be ready instantly to use Full Life right away.

I had my skepticisms about it in the very beginning, but I very quickly grew to like it…

It did make the gameplay a whole lot easier during complicated battles; I kinda though of it as an autopilot switch for the other characters. However, what I loved most about it was the ability to set your own level of difficulty. Of all the battle system thus far, I definitely though this one had the most flexibility, in my opinion.

Gambits are great but sometimes one of your characters uses a spell and you think fuck I needed those mp for something else.

i have that problem -

I'm still having afew dramas with the gambits actually (90 hours in - old dog new tricks *sigh*) it's chaotic sometimes in a tough battle, i normally scrape by with one person standing with hardly any hp and me sweating.....I just can't seem to keep up, maybe i ought to turn the battle speed down.......

Its really good for levelling but i go to peices on the boss fights...i'm so undecided i dunno what to vote >_<

I usually use few gambits mainly to raise a fallen comrade, heal when hp is less than 20% and then finally to attack. These are the only ones I use for boss fights.

I only use gambits for healing(hp<30% that sort of thing), defending(protect, reflect, shell etc) and attacking (just the party leader's target)
