What are some games, that, no matter how much you played, you could never get to the end. And these are games that you tried to get through, not ones you got bored with.

At the moment, for me two come to mind because I was playing both of them earlier.

Castlevania (NES): Never could get through this one. The farthest I have ever gotten in this game is probably stage three or four. No matter what something always comes along and knocks Simon over an edge <.< Eventually I went to youtube to watch the ending.

Metroid 1 (NES): Lol I've never even gotten past the first stage in this game. Though I haven't played it as much as other games. I just wanted to see the ending where Samus reveals herself to be a girl. So like Castlevania I went on youtube and watched it.

Kid Icarus (NES): Lol couldn't get past the first stage in this game either. I always fell below the lowest platform and died :(

There are definently more that I will post later if I think of them.

Theres one game that gave me a run for my money: Arc the Lad, twilight of the spirits....this game was a peice of crap so it did not matter in the end, but the final boss was just such a stupid fight it got rediculously hard and not in a challenging way but in an overwhelming aspect to many damn enemies and not enough resources.

Glover, for the N64, one of the hardest games ever made
You had this ball, and trust me, the ball was an ass. If the ball blew up, you died and had to start from the beginning of the level. Plus, I would always get to the last level, and my game would erase itself

Little big adventure 2. That's an old game for windows 95. And I played it when I was like 11 years old.
I always got stuck near the end. I had to find 4 fragments and I got stuck at the last one. There was a little note that had to lead to the last fragment but I couldn't find it in that little town. I Restarted the game a couple of times and then I had no choice to look it up on the Internet. It turned out that stupid thing was buried and I never thought of that. >.<

Super Mario bros on gameboy - There were extra missions for Luigi and I was always stuck at the last one. Stage 8-4 At first I couldn't find the right route and restarted it many, many times. When I finally figured it out I always fell down at some point near the end or Bowser killed me.

Chrono Cross,

Legend of Dragoon.

I've had these games for ages and am at the very end of them. I've just never been able to beat the final bosses for all these years :sad2:

Seriously, has anyone ever played Battletoads in Battlemaniacs?
It's for SNES, and I think it was like the third Battletoads game to come out.

The first two levels are quite easy, but the third level is impossible. I got this game when I was like 7 or something and I spent years and years trying to get past it. It has you on some sort of jet-engined flying motorbike thing going through some weird gooey forest at like a thousand miles an hour, with stone walls popping up with very little warning.

If you look around the internet you'll see a lot of people sharing my opinion on this, which makes me feel both a bit comforted and even more hopeless.
Anyone else know this one?

Ah I almost wandered away from this thred befor I thought and then it hit me the one game I never botherd to finish was Baldurs Gate....
The last thing I remember about it I was supoosed to go Kill these rats in a basement I did it...a million and one times but nothing seemed to happen after that No "boss" type rat ever apeared, but I do remember Zombie people trying to kill me down there to....I have no idea still to this day-simply cause by that point the game bored me-What I was sopposed to do or acomplish

Edit-After doing the battle so many times I just gave up and since I never picked it back up again....It no longer interests me to finish it

Super Star Wars and both sequels. Got to the last level on all of them, but never beat it.

Virtually all of the Mario games. I've never completed a single Mario game.

UN Squadron; Again, got to the last level.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors; Out of the 74ish levels, my record is at level 23, I believe my uncle's at 45ish... Together, we got to 55ish.

Pokemon; Never caught them all. (If that's considered "beating" the game.) On Red, before GSC came out, I had 147 out of 150 (I never counted Mew, Celebi, etc.) I don't remember what the last three I didn't have were, and the really odd thing is that I owned two GBs, Red, Blue, and Yellow... I should have easily had 150.

TimeSplitters 2; Can't even get past the first level on Hard.

Star Wars Dark Forces; It starts at a difficulty you would expect, but shoots up real fast. I've not even gotten half way through that.

Tenchu 2: Birth of the Stealth Assassins

I got it as a present, and I thought I wouldn't like it (but I did). Sadly, the further I got in, I realized stealth really was necessary (shoud've known from the title). And I'm not good with that at all. Stealth has never been my strong point.

One game never hated me so much as Ninja Gaiden on xbox.

For fucks sake, im a very hectic gamer and i pick game sup very fast on the first try, but this bitch of a game pwned me in the intro level. I only got as far as the third level before i got pummeled by grunts as if they were bosses.

Also all mario world games.

im a bit dead right now, so i cant really recall, but theres a few more that i could never finish.

Metroid Prime for GC, man I played thaty thing for hours and I was just stuck I still go back and try to beat it now but I can't and its sucks because I love playing it so much. I get stuck at the snowy place every time, and I never got passed since the game came out XD I know I am the worst!

Legend of the Dragoon fo Playstation, has to be one of the hardest games I have played in my life and I beat Halo on the hardest setting with my brothers all the time, the bosses in this game were toture and its so hard leveling up bacause all the monsters are strong. Never got to the end of this but I got to the last disc.

Shinobi.

I've heard that others think it's a hard game as well. It's mainly because there aren't any checkpoints within a level so if you die, you have to start the whole level again. It got really frustrating so while I probably could have done the level over and over again, I couldn't be arsed and just gave up. I read the rest of the story on wikipedia.

Fur fighters -sega dreamcast

this game had a good storyline it was so damn intresting,i recalled it now,i never had beaten it,it was hard, and i was still in the beginning of the game,it was an rpg game that had versus mode,it was sweet.but now that game is considered long gone too me.but it was one of my favorite games.

Suffering: Ties That Bind. Oh, the endless hours of frustration I endured through that game. And in the end, I didn't even beat the damn game. I got to the very last part and I just couldn't get through it. It's like a bunch of enemies that can all kill you in like five seconds. And the most insulting part is that I was playing it on normal. I can't even imagine what hard mode would've been like.

Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 (SNES, Japan only)

Fire Emblem is game renowned for its difficulty (until the GBA ones), but this one was just insane. Enemies got very strong from just the 3rd level, one wrong move and you're dead (and dead forever since its a FE game). What annoyed me the most was I couldn't even beat it with a guide. More annoyingly, I got killed by some boss DESPITE HAVING INVINCIBILITY (cheating on an emulator... shameful, yes). It's strange cos the game in the series prior to this, FE: Seisen no Keifu is my all time favourite game, ever (above any FF).

Atelier Iris 3: I didn't like the idea of timed instances. I didn't like the fact that I HAD to do generic side quests to progress in the story. I didn't like how there wasn't a world anymore. I tried beating this thing well over 10 times and I simply couldn't get myself to do it.

Valkyrie Profile 2: I almost hate myself for not liking this game but dammit it has almost nothing from what I liked about the original. Valkyrie Profile (aka Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth for the PSP) Was fast paced. The controls and battles were fluid and the world navigation was epic. The art design was sweet and the music was as awesome as prog rock can get. I don't get why they couldn't give VP2 the same treatment. The battles felt way slower. The platforming and freezing enemies didn't feel as smooth and I don't care much for the overall 3D design of the game. This game may be good but it didn't appeal to me.

Ninja Gaiden II. This game made me reevaluate my life and how happy of a person I am. I was really mad when I couldn't beat it, because generally I am pretty good at videogames. The only other game that did this to me was on NES, a little game known as....

Paperboy. I hope that some of you are old enough to know what I am talking about. the premise is simple enough, throw a paper into some yards and get points. Problem is, there are like 50 things trying to stop you. The game gets ridiculously hard.

Well, Metroid Prime was awesome until the final boss. Like wtf// I got EVERY power-up and everything and STILL could not beat it. So yeah, I've played that game through a few times and have never seen the credits_

Well, I have played this game and it is in my list of unbeatable games. The first one was just about as hard, but I don't think this one is possible. I will let you know that I beat the rocket bike level, but that is easy compared to the snake level. I have tried everything I can think of in the snake level and I cannot beat it no matter how hard I try. Anyways, Battletoads games are fun, but the difficulty level of them would have to be a 42 out of 10.

Other games that I haven't been able to beat ever would have to include Ghosts and Goblins, Super Ghouls and Ghosts, Lunar: Silver Star Story (I know it's stupid, but I can't seem to even win the first battle), Gradius, Final Fantasy II (once again, I know it may be stupid, but every random encounter at the beginning after the first is a dragon of some sort), and Superman 64 (not Commador version, and also not important, but still couldn't beat it). I am working on the first two, gradius, and final fantasy II right now, so hopefully my list will shrink soon.

Magic Pengel: The Quest for Color; while colorful and kind of fun, this game drives me nuts since it's all about luck (the battle system is like rock, paper, scissors, but with attack, defend, and magic instead) and I have never been a very lucky person. I mean after a while it makes a little sense and you can kind of assume what the opponent is going to do but not all the time. I'm stuck, or should I say have been stuck, fighting this guy named Kiba, everything he has is annoying and you have to avoid getting hit once or you're as good as gone...Jeez.

The other game I can't beat or get really far in is Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. Now, I love Monster Hunter games and all, but sometimes it just gets so insanely difficult that I don't even want to try anymore. Yeah, it supposed to be a challenging game and all but still...I'd like a break every now and then, maybe a boss monster that's super easy just make me feel like it was worth spending 10+ hours trying to get a set of armor.
