i just recently beat this game again and i think this game has not only one of the best stories in final fantasy, but also the best love story. i thought tidus and yuna for a bit...but this one seems less forced as zidane always liked her and he had to get garnet to like him as tidus and yuna just sorta fell for eachother and the feeling was mutual. idk i thought it was the best love story but thats just my opinion. anyone agree?

Well yeah, I agree.
The ending scene where they get together is the epitome of romance....which I have pictured myself doing a couple times....

Seriously though, you're right, it doesn't seem as forced as the others...as obviously they already seemed to get along right from the start.
And there was more emotion for their part compared with the others, like when Garnet had to leave Zidane on the airship....that was pretty emotional.

honestly when i first beat it and they show zidane and kuja get swallowed up by those crazy plants i didnt think he was coming back...call me stupid but that made him ripping off that robe and saying "bring my beloved dagger to me!" so much better. haha great final fantasy

That part was extremely awesome! :P

It was a great turn of events --- well, obviously most people already expected that ---- and was actually quite exciting to watch. I had no idea that it would turn out to be that way, to be honest.

I'm fixing to play this game again after I finish Star Ocean 2. =]

It's a personal favorite, and yes...I do think they have one of the best love stories.

They are my favorite FF couple. They weren't forced and they never made me feel sick to my stomach.

I especially loved the ending with them. :)

And there were also a lot of funny scenes between them. XD

^ haha you mean one of that is when they're riding the cargo ship from dali??

I agree they have the best love theme. they weren't childhood friends unlike Cloud and Tifa and Squall and Rinoa. It feels special when a royal heir falling in love with an ordinary or poor.

I'm going to have to stab someone to get my copy of this game so I know what the hell you're all talking about.

Also, this thread doesn't really belong here. Someone's asking if the romantic story between Zidane and Garnet was the best, meaning that someone like me could disagree and bring Squall and Rinoa's relationship into the thread. Meaning it should be in the forum where we discuss the series as a whole. But meh, don't mind me. I'm just sayin...

But I have to disagree. The story of FFVIII was wrapped all round in romance. and hell, you almost get to see Squall and Rinoa make out. Sad that you really don't though. I also liked Squall and Rinoa's love story better because wierd things always happened. It was all twisted in the beginning and evened out into what it is. The game also added a sense of realism to their relationship in my opinion.

Well Zidane is a horny guy who loves girls and eventually falls in love with Garnet, sounds like a regular teen love relation which is all good!

At least it wasn´t as forced as Squall and Rinoa relation!

i thought VIII had a better love story. VIII had way more "love" scenes than 9

Love scenes don't make a love story. Quality > Quantity.

Zidane and Garnet weren't forced at all. Throughout the story they remained friends and it wasn't until the end that their true affection shone through. Sure, Zidane was a bit horny at first, but after all he's been through, he knows that he loves Garnet.

I've only played a tiny bit of VIII, but so far I'm only seeing Squall/Seifer.

The amount of scenes doest really make a difference, but 8 is IMO better with the whole love issue.

@ SapphireStar: Um ... I just said that :\ (Quality > Quantity)

Just to keep on topic:

The Yuna/Tidus story was good, but it didn't do it for me as well as the Zidane/Garnet story. The Macalania Lake (it was here, wasn't it?) scene where Yuna just broke down was touching, though :)
