A sequel to Golden Sun has recently been confirmed for the DS.

I, for one, have been waiting for this for quite some time. The game seems to maintain much of the gameplay of the previous titles. The playable characters will be children of those of the original.

Any thoughts about the plot? Do you think that Alex will return as a villain?

I hate how the DS makes games like these look so childish looking, like FF3 there attempt to make things look 3D utterly fail. It could be so much more on the PSP =(

Anyways besides the graphics of the new GS ive played the original for the game boy advance years ago and it was pretty damn fun, I think I obsessed over it for awhile. I think those monster spirits or w/e i was going after where called dinjns and they like gave you super powerful abilities? not sure.

Dont remeber anything about the plot, sept i think the villains where after the dinjins too.

The plot was about releasing the sealed power of alchemy upon the world, which happened at the end, so theoretically anyone can use psynergy.

Also, the creatures you're thinking of are called Djinn, and they weren't relevant to the plot.

cant wait for this game. i miss issac and felix and the whole cast of characters and the puzzles in the dungeons that utilized your synergy. this game should be a success just like the first two. but i am curious as to what the story might entail and the new abilities the characters might have. i think alex will be the main villain, if he survived, that is

I was so excited when I read this, I utterly adore the Golden Sun series, and it looks like they're keeping the character models the same, at least on the field.

I'm hoping it'll be a major success, and I'm really hoping they try to keep it looking as much like the original as possible. Having updated backgrounds and stuff is great, but the thought of 3d character models and whatnot is terrifying.

I hope Alex returns as the villain, but only if they don't mess up his in-game appearance. I thought he was fantastic in the original two games, being the one controlling the puppet-strings all along. It would be epic to be able to finally fight him.

Wow, I've really missed Golden Sun. This brings back memories. I thought they stopped at Lost Age, but I guess I was wrong. Now, there's a sequel! I really wanna see what's going to happen this time. If he lived, I would think Alex is the main villain. You never really fight him in the other two games, so maybe you'll finally get to fight him in this one.

Oh this is pretty cool. Only played Golden Sun 1 and the others I just forgot to play them. So yeah can anyone give me a summary on what this series is about? I have not played in ages.

It's about people called Adepts with supernatural abilities called psynergy. One group of Adepts wants to restore the power of alchemy to the world so that psynergy can be used universally, and another wants it to remain sealed for fear that it could be used to wage war. For more detail, you might try Wikipedia.

This was probably the best thing to come out of E3 for me, this was my fave JRPG series on the GBA and I would have to have another game to go through. I loved The Lost Age's mix of puzzles, exploring and battling, they got the formula pretty much right.

Yeah cause Golden Sun 1&2 so totally looked like an adult game on the GBA. It still has the same art style from before, it's just in 3D now. I will agree that I'd prefer the 2D sprites from before.

Alex will be in this one way or another but sadly it's not Isaac and co we'll be controlling this time, it's their descendents.

Using the psynergy with the touch screen should be pretty cool.
(I'm assuming you can)
Can't wait to collect those little monsters again.
I forget what they are called, Djinni or something like that?

Cannot wait for this! I just finished GS1 at the beginning of summer and am about to finish GS2. I had thought Nintendo had forgotten about these games, but I'm glad I was wrong.

Arguably the best RPG for the GBA, when nIntendo made this announcement for E3 i was pretty excited. Though hearing that Isaac and Co won't be in this made me peeved. THis needs to be a direct sequel.

Woot! I played through GS 1 and 2 several times xD Glad to see they're finally continuing it :/ Would have liked to seen it on Wii, though...DS already has an impressive RPG library, and Golden Sun moving to Wii would have been a smart move imo.

In any case, I'm sure it'll be badass.

I am sure that the new Golden Sun game will be just as bad ass as the first two. (even though i never played the second one.....)
Anyways, i cant wait till it comes out. It may finally be my excuse to buyin a DS.

Play the second one if you get a chance to get it cheap. I just picked it up this summer, and in my opinion it's as good as the first, if not better. It's longer, too.

We don't know that the original characters won't be in it at all. But, personally, I'd like this game to take place several generations after the last one, to give Weyard a chance to adjust to the release of Alchemy. Also, I wouldn't want to play as the same characters because A. we've already met them and B. already being super-powerful at the beginning of the game wouldn't be very interesting.

This is one of my favorite games. Tbh I didn't really like GS2 at first but once I played them both like 3 times each I just couldn't stop. It's a really addicting game. Since this one is for the DS I know its going to be BA even without Isaac. The trailer was good to so yeah I'm really excited for this to come out.

I love playing GS i played it every day when i got it and i still love it and always will! So i look forwerd to playing the new golden sun!:D

I can't wait. I must have spent countless hours on these games, trying to figure out all of the hidden puzzles, collecting every djinn, getting every secret summon and defeating every secret boss. Good times...

I'm not really too keen on playing as the original cast's children though. I like the characters to stay the same. Hopefully, they'll at least include Alex somewhere.
