im going to get cloud omnislash in the third disk i was just wondering what would be a good number of GP to go into the battle place

I took 200+ but if you get a few lucky runs then you won't need more than 50.

I'm guessing you know the easiest way to get said GP is by winning chocobo races and just taking the GP unless it is something you really want...
 
Yeah if you don't like chocobo racing I'd go with 3 trips to the guy that sells GP at the entrence. That will give you three hundred GP if you buy the maximum GP you can get.

I usally finish the quest with around 250 or less. If depends on your charcter though how long or how much. You can also take the W-summon quest while your at it too. If will take more GP but the reward is good.
 
I recomend this set up

Ultima weapon, Forth Bracelet, ribbon

And don't forget to drop the "all" materia on any magic you will be casting on yourself.

Also I don't remember if this is true or not but I think if you go in with Cloud's limit meter full it will be full every time you select to use GP and enter the battles. Anyone else know if this is true or not. I'm not saying you can use it on all 8 battles, (even with mime I think you mime the commands the reels do) but I'm almost certain you can keep your limit break somehow.

Yeah I seem to remember doing that, so you can use your limit early doors to get rid of a nasty monster, and then build it back up to the final battle. I'm sure it will start with whatever the meter was at when you turn up to the battle areana, as it resets itself when you finish the battles.

Yeah, after playing through it again recently I can confirm that that's true. I think it took me around 150GP to do the battle arena for Final Attack so getting Omnislash shouldn't be a problem for you with so much GP.
 
i did the following set up for battle arena -

matieria

enemy skill (for big guard)

cure masterd (use it for regen)

armor / acessory - ribon and armor yous the best armor you have you will need it.

that will cut down on the need for alot of stuff also get the gold pass to make it worth while as for the person use cloud. it should not take that long to do this if you yous this advice.
 
I used 70 for mine, but I got it at a MUCH higher level than most, so I would say depending on your levels 80-250. But dont waste time doing other things if you get bored gettng the GP. When you get it when I do(right before north crater) you dont get to use it much.
