Rumour – GTA V 2012 release “pretty likely”

Sources have claimed Grand Theft Auto V is probably going to surface next year.

20110621gtav.jpg

Gamespot got the word from sources close to Rockstar that GTA V is “well under way”.

A 2012 release was described as “pretty likely”.

No further information was given, except that “it’s the big one”.
Two sets of casting calls, in early and late March, are suspected to point to GTA V.

Mention in a resume as well as a number of domain registrations and job listings, have all added heat to our feverish anticipation.

Obviously Rockstar is working on GTA V, but it’s still nice to see the shape behind the curtain. Fingers crossed for gamescom, lads.

I'm hoping for the freedom of San Adreus(horrid spelling, but nyeh >_>), and the awesome graphics, and engine form GTA4. I don't want a crappy story, though. not that I didn't like the story for GTA4, but it wasn't the best honestly. :/

I'm hoping for low-riders. :andry:

Chief magazine teases Grand Theft Auto V reveal

European magazine Chief has posted an image teasing what it claims is the first Grand Theft Auto V cover story in the world.

20120322chief_hr.jpg

Chief, which certainly seems to exist and is apparently circulated in Belgium and the Netherlands, popped the cover up on its social media streams.

The Grand Theft Auto V logo is prominent, surrounded by snippets of text promising exclusive new intel: “The mystery unraveled,” “The first images,” “Los Santos is already mapped out,” and “Who will play the new Niko Bellic?”

You’ll notice that one of these is a question, one is incredibly vague and and the other two are tidbits fairly easily spun out of the debut trailer, so maybe don’t get your hopes up – especially as we’re approaching April Fool’s day.

Grand Theft Auto V was first announced last year with a debut trailer, but Rockstar has given no further information; we have nothing concrete on platforms and release window.

Thanks, NeoGaf.

And oh yeah this game will be released in 2013 or later. 2012 is a no no unfortunately.

I loved San Andreas and I like the fact this will have the same location.

ALSO MAKE A ONLINE CREW IN MAX PAYNE 3 & TRANSFER THAT CREW TO GTAV!!

I will definitely buy Max Payne 3 and so I will look forward of making that crew :ohoho:

2013 is fine. I'm only just finishing up on getting 100% on GTA IV and plan on 100%'ing 'The Lost and the Damned' and 'The Ballad of Gay Tony' before even considering V. I loved 'San Andreas' and really interested to see how the new Los Santos and surrounding areas turn out. Hopefully they'll Bring all the modifying aspects back to GTA like car modding, larger (than IV) selection of clothing, and the ability of buying properties (including more spaces to store cars!). IMO the lack of those things is just some of the things that was missing from IV. Also I hope they make it so its more like collecting tags instead of having to shoot birds. Could do without the police hounding me every few mins and stealing my nearby parked cars.

Rumour – GTA V protagonist, release date, and map detailed

This stack of Grand Theft Auto V information purportedly originating with a disgruntled former Rockstar North employee is interesting – and hugely spurious.

20120326gtav.jpg

The info dump was posted on the Gamespot forums; it has since been deleted, but is still available through Google’s caches.

The poster signed up with a brand new account to post the info, and claims to be a friend of someone who “recently got sacked from RockStar North for general misconduct” and who is apparently free from non-disclosure agreements thanks to the termination of his or her contract.

According to this dubious source, Grand Theft Auto V will have only one playable character, Albert de Silva, the “rich guy” featured in the first trailer. De Silva is part of a criminal faction from Vice City, is half Hispanic, and has a son named Kevin – a “stereotypical CoD player” who is “lazy, useless and shouts racial abuse online” but does admire Albert. Albert will not die at the end of the game.

The map will be five times as large as GTA IV and divided into three parts. Los Santos is around half of the map’s total area. A variety of planes will be available to fly, and cars and weapons will be customisable.

Multiplayer will support up to 32 players on consoles, with PC to be confirmed. Players can form gangs, which will be ranked by reputation, and can perform tasks – the examples given are robbing a laundry or stealing weapons from the military.

Finally, the source puts Grand Theft Auto V down for a May 2013 release, with at least six months of core development still to go before a more firm window can be set, and a playable demo at E3 2012.

Hit the cache link above to read more; the poster goes into detail on Wanted levels, chases and in-game radio among other snippets.

All of this is pretty dodgy – if the source isn’t under contractual secrecy, why the anonymity? How many staffers does Rockstar fire that it won’t be able to identify the source immediately? And why the heck does Rockstar, a company noted for its insistence on keeping things under wraps, not have exit clauses on its NDAs? So pour a huge pile of salt on.

We’ll ask Rockstar for comment. No official details regarding Grand Theft Auto V’s story, features, platforms or release have been revealed.

Thanks, RipTen.

Report – GTA V listed for October release

We may have a release window for Grand Theft Auto V, thanks to a rapidly-deleted reference on a Rockstar North employee’s list of credits.

20120410gtav.jpg
http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/08/rockstar-north-employee-cv-gives-grand-theft-auto-v-an-october-l/
Joystiq reports one of Rockstar North’s animators mentioned an October 2012 release date for the anticipated open world epic on both his LinkedIn profile and CV.

Both references have since been deleted, but Joystiq managed a screengrab.

As several observers have noted, a release in the same calendar year as Max Payne 3 would very much go against the grain for Rockstar, and October is already a particularly crowded month, with fellow Take Two child company 2K fielding Bioshock: Infinite.

Grand Theft Auto V was announced with a trailer in November 2011, but Rockstar is yet to give any indication of its release window or intended platform.

Analysts – Infinite slip could allow for 2012 GTA V release

Wedbush Securities has said in its latest note that BioShock Infinite’s delay “opens the window for Grand Theft Auto V to be released in October 2012.”

gtav-logo-1105.jpg

The firm also said an October release would make sense as Rockstar has scheduled every prior GTA releases during that month, with the exception of with GTA IV which was delayed into April 2008 “due to bugs in the PS3 version.”

It is being speculated by analysts at the firm once Rockstar notified Take-Two GTA V would be ready by October, the company gave Irrational Games the “option to spend more time fine-tuning BioShock Infinite.”

“Although we were confident that both games would sell millions of units when it appeared that they would be released in close proximity, we think that the delay will alleviate any wallet-share
concerns and ensure that both games receive the undivided attention of Take-Two’s management and marketing teams, and will ensure that retail support is optimized,” said the note.

Wedbush also said that since Take-Two did not “update its prior FY13 guidance,” despite its history of “providing conservative guidance,” the analysts are “skeptical Take-Two can achieve FY13 earnings guidance without a GTA game.

Upon release, the analysts expect GTA V to sell at least 18 million units, which represents a “20% attach rate to the 2012 year-end installed base of PS3 and Xbox 360 in the US and Europe.”
The firm closed by saying it expects an update on the release of GTA V as early as May 22 when Take-Two provides its Q4 FY12 results, or during E3.

“If there is no update on either date, we believe it is unlikely that GTA V will launch this calendar year,” it said.

Grand Theft Auto V officially getting nightclubs DLC in July

Nearly four years after launch and several billion dollars later, Rockstar Games’ open-world crime epic is still a commercial juggernaut. Grand Theft Auto V still consistently lands in the top 10 best selling games each month and part of that is due to the influx of content still being put into the game.

While the game had much more significant updates for the first year or two, the rate of those major updates has shifted as Rockstar prepares to ship their western sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2. However, it looks like we’ll be getting at least one more major update for Grand Theft Auto V before we saddle up in October.

Today Rockstar Games announced that they are finally bringing the fabled nightclubs to Grand Theft Auto V this July. After having an entire expansion dedicated to managing a slew of clubs in Grand Theft Auto IV as a bouncer and right-hand man to the extravagant Gay Tony, many have been wondering if the clubs will make a return. After all, you can find some in the game but you can’t access their interiors without doing some glitching and even then they’re fairly barebones on the inside as they were never finished.

When the nightclubs DLC hits Grand Theft Auto V’s Online mode in July, players can expect to manage their clubs by placing them in proper club venues or more underground-like locations such as warehouses while also using them as a front for your seedy criminal business ventures.

Exact details are scarce at the moment but it sounds like you’ll have lots of control over the activities and music being DJed at the club with new artists like Dixon, The Black Madonna, and Tale of Us being added to the game in the new update. You’ll run every aspect from setting the place up, designing it, staffing it, and promoting it, one can only hope that those dancing mini-games which let you schmooze the ladies in GTA IV will make a return as well as the champagne chugging challenges.

No date has been given for the nightclub update but it is slated for July, we’ll likely get a more in-depth breakdown of all of the new features in the update closer to its release next month.

Grand Theft Auto V is out now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

It still shocks me just how popular this game has become. Before I started playing XIV, I put a few hours into the online mode and it was just a disaster. Pay to win chaos. Except you don't even really win anything. :|

Grand Theft Auto V casino opens up this summer

Since 2013, Grand Theft Auto V featured a casino on the edge of Los Santos that had a sign that said “Coming Soon”. Fans took this to mean Rockstar would add it in later but after half a decade and getting nothing, it seemed that nothing was coming. Following the addition of poker in Red Dead Redemption 2, the casino is finally opening in Grand Theft Auto V.

The Diamond Casino and Resort will feature a bunch of luxuries such as gambling, exclusive shopping opportunities, a “Lucky Wheel” which gives you random prizes, and much more. The release date for the casino update hasn't been revealed yet. It’s not exactly clear why it took six long years for this update to come to Grand Theft Auto V but it could be linked to legal problems. Online gambling is a hot topic, especially within gaming given how people look at loot boxes. With the ability to purchase money in GTA Online with real-world money, it effectively becomes text-book online gambling.

Rockstar may have finally found a way to get around this issue but we likely won’t know until the update itself releases.

My arse is being handed to me enough trying to get a fire engine for a mission without losing it all in a Casino!
I was never one for on!one co-playing anyway. Can't get that terminology right for a start and prefer the experience of being the only human in an incredibly detailed and engaging location.
It handles a lot better than GTA IV did for me as well. Although I love San Andreas and GTA III a tonne too.

Grand Theft Auto V The Diamond Casino & Resort update releasing on July 23rd

Ever since GTA 5’s online mode launched shortly after the game’s original release way back in 2013, GTA Online has become a phenomenon in the multiplayer scene. With years upon years of updates, the online mode has grown in scope and quality. But one aspect has been sorely missing for all these years, to the dismay of millions of players. A casino.

Last month, Rockstar finally announced that exactly this was inbound. Titled The Diamond Casino & Resort, a whole new experience is soon to come on July 23rd. As the name already implies, the update will feature more than just a Casino for players to lose win big time in Three Card Poker, Blackjack, Roulette and Slot Machines.

A big part of the new update is the Penthouse which allows players to have a new property where they can lounge in a pool, have parties, and enjoy access to a wide variety of services. It won’t just offer a luxurious place to hang out but also offer brand-new co-op missions. As a penthouse owner, players become a member of the Diamond Family who needs their business protected.
