Happy 15th anniversary, Final Fantasy VII

Is it just me? Or is 2012 the year of significant anniversaries? Resident Evil is 15, Mega Man is 25, Street Fighter is 25, Ace Attorney is 10, Kingdom Hearts is 10, Final Fantasy is 25, and one of the latter series’ most significant releases, Final Fantasy VII, is 15.
The Yoshinori Kitase-directed, Tetsuya Nomura-designed (characters) RPG was released in Japan on January 31, 1997. It debuted in North America eight months later, on September 7, and in Europe on November 17.
In 2004, the “Compilation” of Final Fantasy VII began with Before Crisis for mobile phones, and continued with 2005′s CG movie Advent Children, 2006′s PS2 release Dirge of Cerberus, and 2007′s PSP release Crisis Core. After Advent Children, an anime movie, Last Order, was released, as well.
Now, in 2012, what’s next for Final Fantasy VII? Will Square Enix ever pursue the remake so oft-requested not too long ago? Or will the compilation lay to rest? What are your most remembered moments of the original release?

I will make love to you many many more years, VII. ♥

Not sure if there will ever be a remake, or what they have in mind for the PS4, but we'll see. Happy anniversary. :inlove:

This still remains as my favorite FF game (and one of my favorite games overall). I don't really care if they remake it, but if they do I hope they don't change anything aside from graphics, sound, UI, and translation. As for favorite memory, it would definitely have to be the scene where they're all on the airship having a meeting on how to proceed with the quest. Then, after deciding to go on they shout, "There ain't no gettin' off of this train we on!". Don't get me wrong, there's a bunch of memorable parts to the game but that's the one that I'm most fond of.

Oh FFVII... How you have helped and killed rpgs at the same time...and the Final Fantasy series... You help and killed it all... now Final Fantasy VII fan boys think they are final fantasy fans because they played you, but wont play any other game because they dont have a spikey hair guy named Cloud... or a big tit's female named Tifa... or a racist black guy named Barret... Oh FFVII...

Still good luck with being 15 years old, hopefully we don't get shitty prequels/sequels.

Pfft, I already celebrated yesterday. :mokken:

Cheers for an actual sequel game that deals with Cloud for once. :hmph: I shall write Clerith fics to celebrate more.

id be wounded if they did remake it, but for a console I dont already own. Im sick of having to shell out for new consoles each time a new FF comes out these days :hmph:

Also, makes me feel old, I remember badgering my mother for this for Crimbo. Good job she bought it me really, as Id sold the N64 in place of a Playstation to make way for the bloody game. And thus started buying of the consoles for one game... well, I did play other games back in the day, its only now everythings to fancy pants, that I dont bother anymore

Anyway, Im waffling... god, I really am getting old :gonk:

Didnt realize this game was that old. But now that i think about it, the graphics do look 15 years old.

I can't believe it's been 15 years. Whoa! :O I remember playing this when I was a child. Happy Big 15, Final Fantasy VII! Here's to many, many more to come! You brought me my fictional idol, and I can never thank you enough for it, Square [Enix]! :D
