My name is Claire and it's nice to meet you all! Finally a Final Fantasy forum where I can express my love and excitement for this series!!! xD Anyway, I'm a 23 year old gamer who's been a fan of the Final Fantasy franchise ever since X came out. I know, pretty late lol! So far, I've played X, X-2, XIII, XIII-2, and Lightning Returns. And my favorite game is actually LR. I had too much fun with that title, and will definitely play it again after I finally finish Devil May Cry :p .

Even though I like the XIII series, I really can't wait for Final Fantasy XV to be released because I want to know MORE! I hope Square Enix announces a simultaneous release at E3 and has a release date set for the end of 2014/VERY early 2015 otherwise I don’t know how long I can wait anymore :/ .

In regards to other games that I like to play, they are: The Last of Us, GTAV, Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider, The Legend of Zelda, and Devil May Cry. And my hobbies in life (besides gaming) are blogging, drawing, listening to music, reading comics and how to books, cosplaying, cardgames, and watching T.V.
Hope to see you all around!

Welcome to the Forum! Cool hobbies. Make sure you read the newbie threads and say hello in the shout box. I hate the XIII series lol but there is a XIII series section where you will fit in nicely.
You said Zelda your awesome.

I recommend playing I-IX. Some if not most won't consider you a fan of the franchise until you play I-IX or at least VII-IX including me. Don't take it personally but that's the way it is.

Yay, another Zelda fan! Which Zelda games do you like and dislike? I personally love Twilight Princess and Wind Waker the most, but dislike the classics (1 and 2). Majora's Mask was half and half; loved the atmosphere and the mask switching, but there were so many weak aspects that I can't play through it myself again (bad dungeon designs, restricted time limits etc).

Welcome to FFF Claire! Glad another FF fan decided to join :sir:.

Agreeing with Casino here, it's just you. Way to go to discourage a new member staying.

Anyways welcome here and hope you enjoy your stay, most of us don't bite. If you get the time however to play some of the older ones take the time to do so, especially if you have a PS3. All of the old games are pretty cheap on there. I would recommend starting off at IV and working you way up to IX, or just mix and mash between those. Unless you have a ds won't be able to play III for a while till it get's another re-release. Then I and II well they are more then likely some of the harder ones since they never tell you where to go and you would be more then likely to wander around for hours.

You can agree that it's just me, but you would be wrong. I know I am not the only one on this forum let alone the internet that thinks the greater fans of the franchise have played some of the older titles. You are even recommending that Claire play some of the older titles. I wouldn't say that anyone has to start with IV Claire. Start with whatever you want or don't play any at all it's your choice. VIII was my first time with the franchise.

It's like saying I'm a fan of football but I know nothing about the game, or I understand college ball but not pro.

I'm not discouraging Claire or any other new member. In-fact I'm telling them like it is. It's no secret that there are a lot of XIII series haters. There are plenty of heated debates and arguments about Final Fantasy as well as other subjects on this forum. There are also laid back areas for people to get to know others if they wish. It's fine if people want to call themselves fans of Final Fantasy even if they haven't played a single game, (not saying Claire just in general) but they need to know that people will disagree just like you are with me now. They will find out soon enough that people bite on topics no more than anyone else.

It's not like I'm personally attacking new members or anyone for that matter. Letting a new member know there are heated debates is just information. I could say your discouraging this person but I'm not because no one is. It's just an opinion. I would go on to say that Claire or any new member can believe freely in what ever they want and they are welcome to engage. If you were to see any posts of mine on topics that are personal to others you will find that I am a caring person.

I was welcoming, complimented his/her hobbies including Zelda and let him/her know what to expect when looking through the forum in regards to the main franchise of the forum. I fail to see how that is discouraging.

Ignoring the very common problem of "You can't be a fan; you don't know ENOUGH" that you get on the internet- welcome to our forum!

You don't HAVE to go and play the other games- I recommend you do, because they're good games- but we won't kick you out for not playing them. It doesn't make you any less of a fan at all. Ranking people on how many games they've played in a certain series or how many seasons they've watched of a T.V. show is silly. You like something; that makes you a fan of it- no matter how indepth you've gotten with it.

TL;DR: You don't need credentials to be a fan.

Anyway, I see you like blogging: There's a blogging section on this site too. You might have seen it, but you should check it out. I'm not sure how many cosplayers are around here, but feel free to share about that too. I've never really known much about it, so feel free to share!

Lastly... The fact you like MGS has already told me that you have very good taste! It's easily my favourite game series by a stretch.

So, enjoy and discuss with people! have fun, make friends. Hope to see you around!

The origin of the word fan is fanatic which is a person filled with excessive and single-minded zeal and has an obsessive interest in and enthusiasm for something, especially an activity. Ignoring that is the problem and using the word loosely is also a problem. You can like something casually but a fan of a TV series, The Walking Dead for instance, you would watch every episode if your a "fan". If we use the word loosely a fan would therefore involve ranking. Small fan, big fan, enormous fan.

Welcome to the forums!! I see your already getting a taste of what its like in this thread. I'm the opposite I played most of the 1 through 9 and just started playing X when the remake came out. I would suggest you give 6,7 and 9 a try at least if your looking to get more out of the series. Also Metal Gear is my favorite gaming franchise out there so glad to hear that you like those games as well!!

@Greenyxl: I actually like all of them besides the wand of Gamelon, and the very old Zelda titles like Link's Adventure. It was too broken, and there wasn't any clear direction of where you needed to go which made the games boring really quickly. If I had to pick two games though that were my absolute favorite, they would be Skyward Sword and... Majora's Mask lol! I can't wait to see what the new Zelda will be like at E3. Hopefully, it will FINALLY be a game where you don't have to say goodbye to your partner ;A; .

In regards to the restricted time limit for MM, you can play the Song of Time in reverse and it will slow down the clock :) .

@Soulcorruptor: I will. I've been wanting to play the old games, but I decided to push it off for a bit so I can get a bigger PS3. I have too many games on there as it is, so my space is most likely limited lol. Thank you for the advice though! I'll be sure to start off with IV when I get the chance! :D

@spoonyrogdrumps: I know there are a lot of XIII haters, and to be honest, I'm not really bothered by it. If they didn't like the XIII series for whatever reason, that's fine. I respect that they didn't like the saga, but I would hope that they would do the same for me in return whenever I want to say something positive about it. As for being a fan, I have to disagree with you there. I wouldn't have bought the games that I have now if I didn't like the series or even contemplate saving up for a PS4 because of Final Fantasy XV.

@Cookie McGee: Thank you! Glad to find another MGS fan!! :D Are you looking forward to The Phantom Pain too? What did you think about Ground Zeroes?

Thank you everyone for the welcomes! Much appreciate it!!

Drama drama drama....

Welcome Claire to the forum :elmo:

Hope you enjoy your stay.

Minus Zelda :mokken: you like some good games... What music do you like? and any favorite comics?

Again welcome.

Also I played games since I was 4, and my first ff was FFIV when I was 7 (back on Snes when it was still II in America) But if you wanna know anything about the FF series, game wise let me know.

Actually a quick way to solve that if you don't mind using about $170 or cheaper is to upgrade your ps3. Buy any 2 and half inch harddrive, in my case I went with a terrabyte and an external hardrive. Format the external which is easy and move all your save data to it. Then put the save data on your pc and go to the SE support site to download the ps3 patch you will need it after putting in the new hardrive. plug it back into ps3 and it downloads the patch then you put you data back onto the ps3. So if memory is an issue and want a way to upgrade it there ya go. I was in the same boat myself with all the downloads and saving was running out of room and such.

Aye, getting more time is handy but I still don't like the time limit in general. I'd rather have time to explore :lew:.

I'm hoping the next Zelda will be dark and...similar to TP. We've had plenty of cell shaded stuff lately so it'd be nice to go back to the dark side :monocle:.

Hmm, I like country, pop, soundtracks from videogames, and a little bit of alternative rock. As for favorite comics, I don't necessarily read them. But, I have been reading up on some manga like Naruto, and Marhawa Desire. You? Thank you for the welcome too by the way! :)
@Soulcorruptor: That's actually not a bad idea. I don't have to worry about any future YLOD's right? Because my PS3 is a bit old (about 5 years if I'm not mistaken). Where should I go for the hard drives?

Claire Farron:

I am most definitely looking forward to phantom pain!

I'll be buying GZ and TPP at the same time. GZ is too dear, for such a short game... I also need to procure a PS4. :wacky:

The one I was using since got a new one was about two years old, but I would say if you had no problems before it should be now. And if you do get the YLOD can always take the hardrive out.

I hope so to. We need more realistic TP Link & Epona to google over lol. But, I hope they make the world big enough for you to explore, and I really, REALLY hope they bring in a new enemy instead of Ganon. I would even be open to having a new Princess to save if it were possible.

@Cookie: Haha! Understandable. I hope they release the beta for MGO3 over the summertime though. It would be great to see what it would look like on the PS4/XB1.
