Hey, how's it going everyone. I'm a quite recent fan of the FF series because of Square-Enix (they created my favourite game series: Kingdom Hearts) and I have to say that I love the music the most. My personal favourite is Aeris/th's theme because of how beautiful I find it.

I've only played Crisis Core (watched a bunch of gameplay vids of the later games though) and I'm really looking forward to FF: XV. I love the characterisation of certain protagonists because they all have flaws, which makes them more relatable, but they're also pretty cool as well.

I'm looking forward to getting to know what the FF community is like and how my opinions differ from others. Oh, and I'm a bit of a fan girl at times but nothing too OTT! I promise. =P

Best emoticon ever, right here! -> :smiff:

Welcome to the forum, Arrow Storm. Really wish I could play Crisis Core myself, I'm a big CloudxTifa fangirl, so all the goodness that comes along is appreciated, but alas...

Our members have quite the variety in opinions, and debates sometimes get heated. At the end of the day, as long as people are respecting each other, it's all good.

I hope you enjoy your time around here. If you have any questions, feel free to give me a shout. =]

Thanks! I've navigated my way through all sorts of debates in other forums so I feel I'm prepared (I've read all about the who should be with who debate, believe me!) The rules seem pretty solid, too, so I should be okay as a newbie here. =)

Forums are a little hard to navigate for me atm although that's probably because it's so stylish. Haha, we'll see how I get on!

Thanks, Six! n__n

Welcome to the forum! You will find many various opinions and debates as well as topics on everything Final Fantasy and other subjects. Don't forget to read sticky threads, newbie threads, and say hello in the shout box as well. If you have any questions about anything ask members or staff. Follow the rules and you will be fine.

I would also recommend you play through Final Fantasies I-X as a rite of passage.

Welcome Stormy! Yeah, there's a lot to look through and the forums can be a bit tricky to navigate sometimes. Still, any good RPG fan will love a good maze so I'm hoping you learn to love it all :lew:.

I recommend playing FF7-10 for the best games in the series. They're all pretty easy to find really cheap nowadays too so...you could play them easily if you fancy it.

Enjoy! :monocle:

Hello there and welcome to the forum! I hope you enjoy your stay. Kingdom Hearts was a franchise I originally couldn't stand and now I believe it was last year I gave it a go and really enjoyed it so I am looking forward to KH3. As you have played Crisis Core it only makes sense to go on and play FF7 :) (Don't let big pixels bother you graphically) then play FF9/FF10 and then choose whichever from then on.

If you need anything drop a PM by and I will be sure to reply.

See you round

Oh I wasn't expecting any more responses so I'm quite overwhelmed by the welcomes! Thank you! n__nI'm not sure how serious you were about playing 1-10, lol, I think I'll start from 7 and decide from there. I'll probably end up playing 6,7,9 and 10-2.

I'm definitely serious about playing I-X. No bazinga. I'm not saying play them in order. The first time I ever played a Final Fantasy was the 8th installment. It's ok to start with VII, just make sure you play them all. It will give you more respect by a lot of Final Fantasy fans. And people like me don't consider people fans unless they have played most if not all of I-X. I didn't go back to playing I-VI until recently. I'm on V right now. The difference from playing VII-X and I-VI is VII-X makes you awesome. I-VI makes you a bad-ass. I or others won't think any less of you if you don't play I-VI but your input and opinions on the series will go further if you play them. Don't cheat on the games. There is no fun in that.
Don't play X-2 until you play X though I would recommend you skip X-2 all together unless you like a horrible narrative and overt teen girl-pop craze. Don't play the Nintendo DS or PSP versions of the legacy games. The Origins, Chronicles, and Anthology editions from the Playstation 1 are close enough to the NES and SNES originals of I-II and IV-VI. There is a way to play III on an emulator. Don't play the DS remake. There is an English translated version available. Playing that gives you huge props.

After playing the games you might not like it and that is ok. Kingdom Hearts is all you might like in the end. Just be careful about calling yourself a fan of Final Fantasy unless you actually played them.

Hmm yeah ok. I guess I'll look up some of the older ones too, and I heard the re-master of X was supposedly better than the original. If 10-2 is really how you describe it then I'm going to have to skip that.

Thanks for your input.

It looks nicer. I would still get it if you haven't played it and own a PS3. It has updated music, textures, and HD resolution. It's also the international version, which the US didn't get when it came out for PS2.

X-2 is pretty much how I described it. I will say this about X-2 is that the combat/game-play is not bad and it makes use of the job system...though in a teenybopper kind of way. I recommend try before you buy at least.
Or look at some vids of X-2 to see for yourself. I even tried X-2 back then but couldn't go through with it. I played a few hours but quickly turned it off. I remember that fateful day....

I didn't look at any reviews, trailers/videos or articles about the game. I get X-2....put it in my PS2...power it on..........then all of sudden....."What can I do for you" had a whole knew meaning of horror. I remember joking about it with friends later that week. "What can I do for you" I'll tell you what I can do for you!! cursing and calling out Square Enix into Oblivion.

At the end of the day your opinion is the one that matters on what to play or not.

I thought X-2 was really great. Loads of sidequests, one of the best battle systems, the ability to see Spira after FFX. Paine was an alright character too.

It wasn't meant to be serious or anything for the most part. Just a fun look at Spira again with loads of minigames and stuff. I recommend playing it after X for sure...it won't make much sense otherwise.

Don't take what anyone says to literally about Final Fantasy, there are as many different opinions about each FF as there are fans, from favorites to worst, to likes and don't likes. Play whatever ones you like.

My favorites were IV, IX and Tactics :elmo:

It comes down to personal taste in the end though.

But hey welcome to the forum :elmo:

Aww thank you Bender! I remember Futurama; it was a part of my childhood. =P Yep I heard that IX was one of the underrated ones and I tend to love anything people find underrated. Oh gosh I look at gameplay vids before committing to buying something, it's just the way I am, and there are a lot of differing comments!

I'll probably end up playing I-X anyways, just to experience the evolution of FF. And yeah, thanks you guys! n__n
