I was just reading something today that I never knew about that is incredibly disturbing--apparently there is a type of pornography called animal "crush" videos which involves women in high heels stomping small animals to death, including puppies and kittens. In some articles I just read, they mention that a law in the U.S. that had been in place to illegalize this has recently been repealed for the sake of "free speech"--apparently it also outlawed the distribution of hunting and dog fighting videos and this angered many people. While I won't get into the subjects of sport hunting or dog fighting as I know sometimes they can be controversial, I was incredibly outraged by this "crush" video thing, and so I really just wanted to tell everyone I know about it so that if they want to, they have the option of getting involved in writing to Congress or finding other ways to stop it. I mean, I don't know about anyone else but IMO this really is gross. I actually don't even understand how these videos can be legal if the act of animal cruelty itself is illegal. But anyway, I'm trying to tell everyone I know about this so I figured I should post something here too for the sake of information, if anyone else thinks it is gross and wants to do anything. There is a new law, H.R. 5092, that one congressman has put forth to try to specifically ban the crush videos, so that the law has a better chance of being passed and doesn't interfere with the hunting videos etc., and so maybe that will work. But anyway I don't know about anyone else but I'm definitely going to pick up my pen and write a letter for this one, I don't think I've ever been so disgusted by the things some people in this world choose to do.

Apologies if I've posted this in the wrong section. And apologies if it sounds too political or anything, I just think more people need to know about this so they have the option of doing something if they want to, I don't think it's made particularly big headlines.

I've actually never heard about this "crush" thing until now. Something should be done and Kate, I agree why is it legal if animal cruelty is involved which is illegal? That makes no sense to me whatsoever.

I love animals, and i'm totally against this act. It's just horrifying to know that people are just so-- heartless :ffs: I'm deff going to give it a go and write as well. This should be stopped asap.

For the most part, I try to relate to other people on why they like certain things. But I can do that because it's not at such an extreme as this. These crush videos are the last thing I would want to watch so I can't really understand why someone would.

I mean, wouldn't a better alternative be that they didn't physically harm animals? Like some sort of animated video or visual effects instead of the real thing. I have no idea TBH.
 
It's the first I've heard of this as well. Seeing as it's considered pornography, that just goes to show what sick fetishes people can have. It is just vile. I can't think of any other word to describe it. Women stomping small animals to death? Why on earth would that be considered remotely sexually arousing? What is wrong with some of these people?

And don't get me started on these hunting and gladiatorial videos. The people endorsing them are still twisted. It does beggar belief how these "crush" videos are still permitted in fear of being against "free-speech" when clearly animals are being flipping killed for sheer entertainment. Animal cruelty is against the law, this clearly IS animal cruelty, yet nothing is being done about it. What kind of law enforcement do you call that just to appease a bunch of animal-bashing nutters?

It makes me sick that people get a kick out of watching animals get harmed in general, but this specific instance, for sexual arousal (and in such a graphic way) has shocked me even more. Like Graye said, if people really do have a freaky fetish where they want to see this sort of thing it should be computer animated or cartoon animated. That would be sick and disturbing in itself but at least no animals would be harmed. Anything that kills animals for entertainment should be banned.

"Free speech" my ass. If animals could talk I'm sure they'd have something to say about it. For now I can confidently say that 99.99% of people would be strongly against these videos, and will talk for these animals and say that this is simply sick and wrong.

Ok normally I am "whatever" to other people's fetishes, but this is just beyond sick. This is cruel to the animal. Seriously, even if they are that concerned about keeping the animal population down, there are much more humane ways to do so.

And I agree with the post above me. If someone really enjoys this, it should be done with cartoon simulations.

I dont care what humans do to other ADULT people but animal abuse is just disgusting if you feel like a good cry hunt down "Canned Hunts" I cried all day after I saw it play on TV befor work.

Free speech and animal cruelty are two different creatures. There's a difference between both. You see, free speech means being allowed to make cartoons like Happy Tree Friends. Yes, it's violent and depicts cruelty towards animals, but it's not REAL animal cruelty, as no real animals are being hurt; it's only a cartoon depiction, not any more real than the regular violence that a TV series like Dethklok displays. But excusing away laws that prevent animal cruelty on the grounds that you aren't being allowed to express it is absurd. You are allowed to express animal cruelty, so long as you aren't actually committing it. Cartoon depictions of animals being hurt is not real animal cruelty. Graphic descriptions of animals being hurt (eg, in stories) is not real animal cruelty. Real depictions of animal cruelty that are censored or made illegal are not intended to violate free speech, but rather because animal cruelty itself is the issue. You can express animal cruelty without actually violating animal cruelty laws themselves.
 
...I think I just died a little inside ;_; :cry: The fact that animals don't have any say, they cant resist or cry for help... animal abuse makes me sick.

That is just awful. Absolutely disgusting. I know it's all, each to his own but no. No way. I cannot even begin to comprehend how things like that would turn people on. It's animal cruelty on a whole new scale. Especially, as a previous poster said, the animals are literally helpless. If they cried out no one would help them. Argh, this is really getting me worked up.

I agree though, if people get a kick out of that then, they should try and make it so animals aren't being hurt. I cannot believe that it's been legalised, if I've followed this correctly. It would be ideal for it to stop all together but really they should just use cartoons or something. >_> Or just stop it all together.

It's upsetting and sickening. Two things that would hardly make me get in the mood.

Animal abuse is something I just can not tolerate. I love animals and to see them get hurt in any way for the amusement of sick human beings is just not on.

How on earth did we become the dominant species on earth?. Saying its wrong leaves it open to be justified as being right in some peoples eyes, this like many other of the worst things 1 human can do to another is not right or wrong it should not exist!.

Its best not to think about these kind of things it like the complete anti-Final fantasy?

You know, I've heard that such videos exist, and you can pretty much find a video for anything on the internet these days. But what's shocking to me is that people actually get off on this stuff? That's just appalling! I'm glad efforts are being made to make such videos illegal. People are just so damn disturbing these days. Maybe I'm just too conservative or too old fashioned, but I don't see why people could like this sort of thing.

This is horrible. I literally felt like crying. It is so horrible. This should be stopped, it is...so horrible. I died a little inside. I cannot believe this exists.
 
my god that post made me cry, gamingway as I have a pet cat thomas and I love him to bits and HOW THE HELL can anyone hurt a animal FFS thats really pissed me off :angry:

Im not clicking the link as reading this was sad enough. I remember someone told me about this years ago and I was nearly sick. How can some sick bastard do that, film it or even jerk to it is fucking beyond me? These people need locking up and given a damn good beating.

That's all fairly irrelevant. People can be strongly against whatever they like, but unless what is being done in the videos is illegal, then it shouldn't be censored.
I also think there's an element of hypocrisy of people crying about the poor animals, but then go and have steak for dinner. People just don't like see cutesy wootesy little doggies and kittens being hurt because it distresses them, not because they have a passion for animal rights.
