Apparently this is real, and yes, you will need to be online all the time - and I don't recall reading from anywhere beforehand that you essentially need to "log in" to play what ought to have just been a downloadable game. Bloody online DRM I suspect. Fuck that then.

Then again, I've no plans to even get this re-release. The character booster thing is just laughable anyway considering like I said somewhere before, it just cheapens getting the "achievement" for something like bashing the Ruby Weapon.

About that thing of logging in, they said that the saves are Cloud based which means you have to be online to save and load it.
 
So Question, (might be blind but I didn't read it anywhere)
Did they put the Debug room in this version at all? If they did then I might get this game from them, if not, then I see nothing worth getting...

Its just as you said it just a re-release from 1998 with a few fixes here and there, but the thing is its not really about the DRM ( cause i think its going to be a good ) and how bad the DRM going to be, the real reason for this is to show the kids of this generation a REAL GAME unlike some other games that suck really bad, that is what i think.
 
That comes down to opinion, though, seeing as there are plenty of games that came out after VII that I enjoy much, much more than it.

ya i know what you mean like FF VIII, FF IX, and FF X. FF VII is the only one form ps1 to get a remake unlike FF VIII and FF IX. X is also getting a remake for ps3 which is good too. I think is good for square enix to remake the older final fantasy games for kids of this generation to play, because most of them don't really now how a good game is suppose to be. All they know is shooting off a guys head is fun.
 
I don't think a lot of kids these days would have the attention span to sink 80+ hours into a game, unfortunately. I think that's the main reason we'll never see a proper remake.

A Final Fantasy doesn't really take 80 hours to beat, but if you look at your kids mw3 and see how long it took to beat it and plus the online time, it will be over 80 hours on it. The 80 hours will be the same thing over and over again in mw3, unlike a Final Fantasy game where they switch stuff around so it doesn't seem boring, The kids of this generation only care about graphic and how the new games will have better graphic then older games and how the story..... well they don't care about the story at all.....
 
Someone on the boards here told me that it is essentially the same game, there are no significant updates that would make it worth your while if you decided to play it (assuming you have played it before). I'll pass myself.
 
I think it's really good. The graphic is better than before, when i played vii on my big flatscreen tv & the music seems a little bit smoother. What i really like on this "remake" is the new translation to german, the old one has SO many bugs. (In one Sentence, i remember, there were a few words in french. WTF?!) i think, particulary for the german gamers it's a acceptabel remake. :D

Well my sexy German friend, at least this re release is working out well for you guys. In reality this is not a remake , it is a re-release with a few minor add on features. Not worth my time.
