I'm going to tell you a FANTASTIC story.

About how much I miserably fail at the game "Final Fantasy X".

I've had to replay it 3 times already due to my failness!
:gasp: And still failed, yet again!...

The first time I "attempted" this game... was... umm... A Christmas, yes... A Christmas. I'm not sure how many years ago, I think 3... or 2... I got a PlayStation 2, along with it I got Final Fantasy X. I was like, 11 then? Yes, sounds right. Knowing how much of a fail I was back then (Go look at my posts from 2 years ago, I was the biggest idiot ever. I wish I could go back in time, and kick my 11 year old me.)

So anyway, I popped this game in and enjoyed it, as the second ever Final Fantasy game I've played. I ran through it carelessly, and ended up reaching a point where I was way too undertrained fleeing from everything. This is wha thappens when you give a stupid 11 year old, such as myself back then... a Final Fantasy game.

Now about a year ago I attempted it again and got pretty far... past the wedding scene and to Zanarkand. After countless HOURS and HOURS of grinding and of at least 45 hours of full gameplay, I ended up screwing up my sphere grid and sending Tidus in Wakka's direction on the grid, Rikku was turning into Lulu somehow, and Yuna was actually doing pretty nicely and was only around 1 sphere away from Holy. Then I for some reason became bored of the game (shame on me) and never returned to it, I now forget like 75% of the story and would not be able to continue. Thus, forcing me to retry....

I was going to do a video playthrough of this game, since I knew most of the game, and for some reason had a "spectacular" plan to get myself through the parts I haven't seen before... Not a good idea, I got to the point after Yuna's first temple thingy, and totally failed due to my cluelessness of what to do, and strategies.

Shame on myself for ruining this great game experience for myself. Now, probably within the next 2 or 3 years, I may have the guts to pick up this game again, pop it in my PS2 or PS4 or whatever I have by then, and try it again. Apologies for the non-positive session of boring text by me, and massive amounts of sarcasm...

But at least I'm not like I was on this forum back when I was a tiny immature kid. (Oh dear) I got a permanent infraction for spamming, that's how stupid I was. I didn't know the definition of spam at the time. I was a stupid kid... You know one time I threw someone's cat in a compost bin when I was 9
:shame:... Okay, I'm rambling and going off topic, sounding like an elementary school kid with ADHD... I'll shut up, finally. Just felt like ramblin'.

Edit: My 100th thread. I think this is very suitable as a 100th thread because it reflects on my general past, and my past on this forum. I've been a member since 2007 and only have 394 posts... How old was I in 2007? Let me think... I suck at math... I was 11. I did not belong here at the time, I admit it.

Well this is probably normal, or you can blame Square.

The sphere-grid system is pretty cool and I like it, but it's not for... well, anyone. I've often gone the wrong way on it and wasted spaces, but somehow it didn't really affect me that much. I stopped giving it much consideration after awhile since I wasn't looking to learn every spell.

i never have even had a chance to try and beat it. i can never find a copy and when i do there always broken. i have never made it past the water area after sin's first attack

That's a shame... You can find one off eBay pretty cheap I bet, it's getting to the point where all the copies of FFX have reached their MINIMUM value, and now they'll begin to increase in price due to their old classic-ness. Example: Final Fantasy VII and VIII; those games are like $30 now for a good copy, that's something like how much they were when they first came out. If you can't get them off eBay, try some second hand stores that may contain videogames, or maybe just check a local gamestore with a massive PS2 game shelf, you can usually find them there. GameStop and EB Games seem to be decreasing their PS2 shelves though, I better hurry and grab some goodies before they're gone... So should you. :P

Sounds like you're making a mountain out of a molehill :hmmm:
I think you should move the fridge next to your tv and just spend the next few days playing it from start to finish with no interruptions, maybe give yourself 4-5 hours sleep if you feel you've accomplished something at the end of each day.

Don't sweat it bro, You can't mess this game up too much.

1) For the sphere grid- get some movement spheres (teleport or friend) and get the characters back on track.

2) You can always level up according to your abilities- if you are fleeing from everything just back track the way you came till you are fighting appropriate level enemies.

3) you can buy spheres in luca to watch what you missed.

I would love to do that, but I never can commit myself to a game successfully, I get bored of it really fast and just HAVE to take breaks for other games. I seem to ALWAYS have 3 games on the go at once and it's annoying! Just look at my signature and you'll see my "to do list" of a nerd.

The fastest I've ever beaten a game was for Bayonetta and Final Fantasy XIII. Bayonetta was done in 3 consecutive days: 3 sittings.

Final Fantasy XIII was done from March 9, 2010 - April 2, 2010. There was a gap about a week long or so in between there at some pount.

FFVII took my like 2 years due to the PC version glitching up and stuff,

Final Fantasy I took about a month since I only played it on spare time...

Final Fantasy VIII took about 3 months... I was very committed to that game, would usually play it when I got home from school whenever I had nothing else going on. (often) So yeah... I have no life o.o

Don't feel too bad. I never could understand the sphere-gird system that much and by the time I got to the wedding scene and fighting that thing on top of the airship and died repeatedly I ended up using cheat codes. Why? Because I had to see that story to the end no matter at what cost dammit!:x3:

I should redeem myself by playing over and beating it fair and square this time. I won FFVII fair and square with patience and level ups after all 8D

I also remember failing at that wedding sequence. There was also that Sinspawn-Gui sequence that busted my ass over and over when I was 11 years old. I had a tantrum.

Well for me. i beat it on my 2nd playtime through. the first time i was underleveled and i got smacked down by yu yevon over and over again and i just ended up quiting.....but boy o boy later.....the second time.... I decided to take on everything including Nemesis (US version) no dark aoens. And i used the leveling don tonberry trick too access like 40 sphere levels per fight...and i didnt even need to kill it lol. than when it cam to the big bosses from the story i just killed them in like 1 or 2 hits....I think i even killed omega with one strike of a blade....i was a little dissapointed....when you level up like that all of your characters go from where they are too max stat and 20k Hp pretty fast

Amazon is great too. That's where I bought mine.

Like FinalCzen said, I think this is fine. Rikku is going along Lulu's path for me too now. Tidus going along Wakka's path doesn't sound so bad either, although I decided to give him Kimahri's route. And Auron is going along Tidus' path. I suppose he needs a bit of agility.

Don't worry that happened to me as well, the first time i played the game i had a completely random sphere-grid, Kimahri ended up learning black magic, Tidus was in Wakka's sphere grid and so on...

I decided to restart the game since my characters were weak and couldn't even pass Mt.Gagazet where you battle Seymour.

The second time i played i did better however and got a better understanding of the sphere grid and ended up finishing the game:)

Just a question. Did you guys pick the Advanced Sphere Grid? I went for the Beginner's one because reading about it in the manual already confused me, so I thought it's best for the 1st playthrough for me to start with Beginner's one and I ended up getting a hang of it very fast.

I chose beginner's sphere grid the first time i believe and it still turned into a mess on my first game.

That's how it was for me.

Really? But most side routes are locked anyway. I used that as a basis of knowing which way it's best to go. If it's locked, means it's not the main route. So I just kept going with each character until I reached the ending of the character's grid, which is the Lvl3 lock.

Hmmm well then maybe i started with the normal sphere grid, can't say for sure it's been about 6 years ago.

Eh, for me it doesn't get all that hard until Zanarkand. >_> Though I went to Omega Ruins and well, it...wasn't pleasant. Haha... Though I'm using someone else's save as a file where I just screw around, it has 99 of all sphere types, 99 of every item (barring key items obviously). Its fun to just mess around on that file. Heh. Yay for Kimahri having around 40 strength in Kilika. =D Though, what bugs me is it has Auron on the team list. Can't use him as he's greyed out, but that's some serious wtf? why would Auron show up in the team list if I've not finished Luca? Ah well. This is my secondary file. My main one hasn't been hacked at all.

Are you looking at any strategy guides? That can make things way easier. Like my sphere grid was so random, I did avanced and just moved along various random paths. I had tidus learning black magic, rikku as well. Wakka I never really used until the giant whale thing battle. Taking down every Seymour was a challenge but as long as you have a good strategy then you should be able to beat it.

^You can always sort of see what makes sense. Like I wouldn't for example lead Auron down a magic path, because he very obviously is not a magic-based character. Likewise taking Lulu or Yuna down Auron's or Wakka's or even Tidus' paths aren't a good idea either, since they would not need all those strength bonuses. Kimahri though I think can take any path, since he is both a mage and a physical damage dealer. Same probably goes for Rikku.

Yeah, i chose the Advanced Sphere grid, the beginner grid is too simple for me and i like the long hike to get powerful abilities.
