How Old Were You...

I was seven and I played FFVII. I found it super cheap in a shop and I thought it looked better than Spyro, my then favourite game. I loved it. To me, an ATB guage, the limit break system, etc, where great, expecially to my seven year old mind, who was used to pointing buttons and getting instant results. Sephiroth, Aerith, Barret, Tifa, and Cloud were entrancing characters, and I loved Cloud's spikes. :P It turned me onto the entire series.

I was 18 years old when I started playing Final Fantasy. It was the summer of 2001 and I'd just I left school (and was starting a gap year working), and one day my brother brought home a copy of FFIX which he'd bought. We'd had vague memories of seeing my cousin play FFVII and FFVIII, and so my curiosity was piqued and I started playing and . . . well it went on from there!

I was about 10 or 11, staying over at a friend's house for the first time. He had FF VIII and FFIX, and I told him I'd never played Final Fantasy. So he told me I had to try 'em. xD

To this day, FF VIII and FF IX are my favorites. But I do always take into account that they were my first, so I don't go around telling people they're 'the best' unlike some fans of CERTAIN FF's.

i think i was about 5, first game was FFVII,FFVIII and FFIX as i got them all at the same time :P i didnt know how to play it though so i went through the start of FFVII without using any materia or changing weapons or armour lol.

I must have been about 11 when I first played an FF game. My first one was FF7.

At first I didn't play it much as the only other RPG I had ever played was Pokemon, so that battle system was all new to me and I died really easily. I didn't realise you could use potions and such so I died on the scorpion boss and then left it for a few months.

When I went back to it and learned how to play properly I grew to love it insanely. In fact this happened when I fell ill one day and had to take a few days off school so I spent all day playing it... I eventually ended up taking the whole week off as I was that into it I just pretended or convinced myself I was still ill (only time in my life I have done this to get off school, I do feel guilty for it but it was for a good cause! :O).

That pretty much made me a fan of FF games and I eventually got FF8, then from then I knew I had to get them all. I got the rest whenever they were released pretty much from then on. FF9, FF6, FF4, FF5, FF10, FF1, FF2. (I think that is the order they were released on the Playstation consoles)

Then there's the spin-offs as well which I felt I HAVE to get whenever the opportunity comes to me. Ehrgiez, Kingdom Hearts, Chocobo Racing (only got that last year as it was too hard to find / expensive).

In a way I wish I was younger when I started... But on the other hand I was only just begining to understand storylines at that age, and there are some aspects I know now that I didn't pick up on when I first played. If I was any younger then there would be even MORE that I wouldn't have picked up on. It means I need to see myself play games such as FF8 and FF9 again just to pick up on all the things I was too young to understand the first time through. It's a bit like how I also need to watch most movies again in order to understand them fully now that I have got older.

Aw come on, you can do better than that, posts like this are considered spam and against forum rules

No.

I was seven, introduced to FF7 by my brother. I really didn't know what I was doing, but I had fun roaming around in my youth.

I use to watch it when I was smaller but other than that...I didn't really play FF till I was about 13 or so. My first FF game I ever picked up and played the whole way through was FFVIII. It was my first love. <3. =D

One of my friends had FFIX and I borrowed it from him when I was around 9 years old.
The problem is: The game didn't work!!!! The first disc was damaged...
So in the end I didn't play it...

The first FF I played was FFXII. I think I was 13 or 14, not sure.

I first played FFVII when about 6 or 7, when my older brother bought it. I got stuck in a desert, and I seem to think that it never ended, but it's been a while. I got FFVIII recently, and it is kinda funny to see my 3 year old sister say 'let me walk!' or 'I want to kill the bad guys!' All she does is physical attack, but she really enjoys it anyway.

My first FF game was VII back in 2006, and, so far, I haven't beat it yet. I got to the crater, and then stopped caring. After watching blocks talk with each other, I just stopped.

Before that, I hadn't played a FF game, only heard about them from other people.

Then, in 2007-2008, I picked up FFXII; still haven't finished it either. :P

Man, now I think I need to go and beat XII.

I have no idea it was 2004 or 2005 ._. so like I'm 17 now, I believe I was 13 or 12 ._. it was Final Fantasy VIII Demo on PC xD then I got FF7 and started getting the rest of FF games then SE games and etc xD

I started with FFVIII demo when I was 13. My brother brought it so I thought why not trying? Then I played FFX after seeing my brother playin FFVII and that's it.

I was about 11 years old when I first played Final Fantasy VII. It was my first RPG that I ever played. I bought it for $20 on a game store and I got to say that it was a wice choice of me because I didn't know that it was going to be as good as it did. I didn't have a clue that it was an RPG. I started playing it for the first time and I didn't know how to use the materias well. I didn't know that the weakness of the first boss was by Lightning.

Then through out the time I started to get the hang of the game. It became my personal favorite Final Fantasy game out there and it will always be. Now it is the most famous Role Playing Game in the history of Final Fantasy.

My first FF game was FFT for the PS1. I think I was 13 or 14 at the time when I borrowed it from my cousin.

And 7 years later, FFT is still probably one of the most mature storylines I've ever encountered in a game. I admit I was a little lost about some of the more subtle story aspects when I first played it way back when, but I still absolutely loved it and it will always be one of my fave games ^^

I was 11 when I played my first Final Fantasy game. It was Final Fantasy VII. I remember this well because this was when Final Fantasy VIII had commercials out and I was SOOOO sad that it didn't continue the storyline from VII (at the time I didn't realize that Final Fantasy wasn't just sequels..). Honestly though, I didn't understand a lot of the plot or humor my first time playing.

I was about 12? I am not 100% sure but I know it was the year Final Fantasy VII was released. My mum actually brought the game for herself but I eventually got on it and fell in love with it immediatly. I've been a fan ever since and get all bouncy with each new game. ^^

I had to be about six or seven and my friend told me she had this awesome game I had to try. Turns out that game was Final Fantasy 8. I battled my way (I think...she may have hogged it as she's really bossy about her copy these days XD) up to Ifirit although my memory of it was that the battle was out in the field when clearly (from playing years later) it was not. Go figure. The love affair however (With the game, not the girl :P) has continued ever since,
