....Square make nothing more to do with FFVII.

Why?

They're milking it to death, there'll be no fun in FFVII if they release another game based on it, or another film.

LEAVE THE CLASSIC ALONE DAMN YOU. Don't wank it up like you cocked up FFX-2, I mean what happened there did you replace the design crew with a group of horny teenagers!? Rhetorical Question:P

But Square for the good of FFVII and all it's fans, let it become one of the few good FF games you have made, instead of killing it to bits with crappy remakes and sub-stories.

Personally I think that people have overreated too much at all these new Compilation additions. I don't see anything wrong with them, they're just expanding the parts of the story in FF7 which we didn't know much about.

And I'm also one of thew few that didn't think FFX-2 was that bad. Tear me apart for that, but it's my opinion. I didn't care what they were wearing either because the game was so damn fun. And the ending rocked. ^_^

Ah, and that word - "milking". Well, think of it like this: Squaresoft was about to go bankrupt so they made the first Final Fantasy game - then it was a smash hit. To this day, there have been numerous remakes and spin-offs, and that is including the 12 Final Fantasy already made. So Square (later turned SE) has been 'milking' the franchise of Final Fantasy for years.

The Compilation has lots of spin-offs, yes, but look at the upcoming FFXIII. It has like 3 games planned for it in it's little "Compilation".

Personally I'm just enjoying the ride. I love knowing more about Zack, Cloud, Vincent, ect and don't think of it as 'milking'. Remember, videogames are made for the entertainment of people who play them and they also rake in money - so yeah. We're SE's bitches. We give them money. And in return they make us some awesome games with cool stories. They take time outta their life to make these things and for that, I think they rock.

My two cents.

Yeah but as more FF games get created, the more they lose their novelty, well for me anyway. I agree, they have been milking it for years, but milking it to an extent they're milking a franchise of a franchise? You see what I mean, it's just ruining it for me. I'm sure I'm not alone with this.

Don't worry, I can definetely see what you mean and I see it too, but I don't neccessarily see it as a bad thing, just... a little change? IMO, anyway. Some of the FF feel is different. But it's okay with me because I'm generally accepting of change and new ideas as the franchise goes on.

YES!!! YES!!! I completely agree with you there. Square-Enix has NEVER made a decent game in their lives. Look at Tidus's horrible voicing in FFX, and their alliance with the DISNEY staff of all people, creating Kingdom Hearts. (Well, Aeris and Cloud DID make a nice touch, but Goofy and Donald are just plain wrong. And don't get me started on Jiminy Cricket...) Is it me or is the FF series getting worse and worse as time progresses. I wouldn't be surprised if the costume design crew really WERE horny teenagers. Anyways, I should just end this before my reckless disregard for Enix's work get me kicked out of this forum.

I'm cool with new ideas and all that jazz, I'm not cool with it appealing to the average horny nerdy teen with the female characters dress as skimply and legally possible. Bit disturbing when you have Rikkus ass in your screen, and the love stories make me gag in a way I never thought possible.

But that's just me, heh

While I think it's awesome, I have to agree. I mean it's nice that they're creating the extras BEFORE the actual story of FFVII as it gives us more information on what happend. Not to mention I'm so excited to hear about Zack's story before he died *insert Zack fangirl scream here*, but I really don't want to see anymore sequels IMO DoC, etc...just leave the story alone Square! No more!! The planet is safe again, there's no more Sephiroth, no more Omega I mean c'mon. Everybody is safe, happy and healthy. Let them live in peace now!! The one thing that I DO want to see is a remake for FVII for the PS 3 and that's it. Another thing I'd like to see is Crisis Core released on the PS 2 and not just the PSP  But anyway, they really gotta stop. I really totally agree on this.

ROFL. I don't know, I can't really agree with that bold part. Remember the FMV graphics in FF7? Tifa was a bit of fanservice, whether people like to admit it or not. And I'm not saying this in a bad way. I LOVE Tifa. But... look at those boobs that were on your screen in FF7. XD I think it was partly because they wanted her to look hot, (because she's a girl that can kick ass and that appeals to a lot of male gamers) and because the graphics were really blocky at that time.

Can't forget the numerous sexual innuendos in FF7 also. And Shiva is practically naked in every FF. Garnet's outfit looked like it was riding up her crotch in FF9... :P

Meh, just character designs, 'spose. Their characters and story make up for it though. Unless they're SUPPOSED to be skankeh characters (Leblanc? She was funny though).

The subletly was what made them funny, now it's just so obvious it's just crap.

Maybe I exaggerated a little with Rikku's Arse, but you get what I mean.

Oh Leblanc was horrible...I cringed, so much.
I mean as if Scan 3 wasn't enough.

Yeah, sex sells, apparently. I never found Tifa to be that interesting a character, to be honest, aside from the fact that her large octogon breasts never gave her back injury. I don't like the path we're going down in terms of story/voices/character value... I sure hope Enix repent their ways before the One Winged Angel send them to the Lifestream. (Where was the goddamn Lifestream when Sin killed all those people. That spirit room never stood a chance.)

Am I the only person who thinks that the mid-made FF's were the better ones?

Is it me or is the FF series getting worse and worse as time progresses

Though I hate to say it I completely agree. But maybe I feel this way because I started playing on the best (imo) FF game - VII.

On the subject of milking FFVII dry - I'm not a big fan of it. It seems to cheapen the reputation of FFVII and robs it of a little dignity. But it doesn't take too much imagination to see the monetary motivation behind these spin-offs.

And they have plans for the next 10 years... :O maybe this include a new special edition of Advent Children every year, an after before crisis, a Cid flight simulator and finally a remake for the ps4, x-box 720 or nintendo woot

lol

Much fun can be had speculating. 10 years though!? That's insane. And I though Terminator 3 was pushing things too far.

I do agree that the midgames are the best, and also, that they are taking poor FFVII to ruin. I can accept the Prequels, knowing more bout the characters... But as people have said, there is no need for more sequels, if they are happy, if Sephiroth and Omega have been defeated, let the poor survivors live! :P Let them be! (Or are they thinking of another sequel "Sin arrives from an unknown source, and brings havoc upon this characters" Would hate to see that as another game) Besides, what could have happen in a sequel? everybody dies and its a d*mn GAMEOVER so it can END?!

FFVII is being milked far too much. Its my favorite game of the entire seires and I found it perfect. The compilations gone to far, and its not simply filling in bits we don't know, its expanding, so much so its even contridicting (Sephiroth JUMPING into the Lifestream in Last Order!). Advent Children was a good idea, but it did ruin alot of the game for me in the sense of Rufus surviving and whatnot. And DoC!? what the fuck is that about tbh? yeah have a nice little story telling about Vincent, ok, but Deepground? more Shin-ra secrets? Omega? my god to overboard.

Why I like Final Fantasy is because each FF has its own world, story, and atmosphere, but With VII's cash-ins its made the orginal game just not right anymore. I can't play VII anymore and feel kinda bummed that Rufus got his arse blasted to pieces...cos now he didn't! Can't use Vincents LV 4 Limit Break thinking 'oh, nice little FFI reference'...cos now its ACTUALLY Chaos, partner of destruction for Omega! Can't roam the slums in Midgar without thinking 'damn, Deep Ground is below all this, Shin-ra's top-top-top secret project'!....the list goes on and on.

Sequals are ok if they are expanding an idea, yet don't harm the original much. example, Before Crisis. nice game about a war between Turks and AVALANCHE. OK so not impressed to find out that the Barret led AVALANCHE were the originals BUT from what I've read of the storyline it has some nice little references that wont ruin the original, unless you havent completed it that is. CC seems good, nice story bout Zack, tho we dont need to know anymore about him, does seem to compliment the rest of the story well with the inclution of Anengel (sp?) and real origins of the Buster Sword but its the G and Deepground refernces that have turned a good plot idea into a major milking frenzy expanding DoC instead of the actually FFVII story itself! not to mention its set to contridict some of FFVII mostly the 'Nibelheim incident'!

Like Godspeed said, milking a franchise of a franchise

The FF seires itself has gone downhill since X. X-2 was really not needed, good gameplay I must admit but the story sucks at best and the overall presentation reaked of....cant even think of a word for it!
XI was made an Online game....nuff said really. that idea should have been kept for a spin-off title of the seires, not the main numberd line of games!
XII isn't out over here just yet and I had great hopes it would be the first proper stand-alone FF since IX...then they went and announced 'Revent Wings'! WHY!? Arn't The Tactics/Tactic Advance refernces good enough to fuel SE's need to have an un-original FF game? pfft.
As it stands at the moment I'm in support of the idea of having three FFXIII's because they are approching this project with that intention and not simply going back and rehashing it like previously. Its already part of the experince of FFXIII that its in numorous parts instead of one. hopefully it'll turn out a great and stunning project, we hope.

wrong, It has been announced that on February 6th of the new year, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be releasing the limited collector’s set of Final Fantasy: Advent Children. It will retail for the suggested price of $49.95 dollars, which will be under the thirty pounds mark.

The bonus material included is said to be:

Ten collectible postcards
The popular Last Order: Final Fantasy VII
Deleted scenes
The English movie script
Venice Film Festival footage
A sneak peak at the FF7 compilation’s future titles.
Trailers
FF VII Story Digest
The Distance: Making-of Featurette. It includes new English voice-cast interviews.

YES!!! YOU ARE CORRECT!!! DoC never DID make the storyline better. I never liked the fact that Enix put out a goddamn first-player shooter under an FF title. I thought it was the typical turn-based game. (From the looks of things, I sincerely thought that Yuffs and Cait Sith were gonna join you.) And that stupid Scottish accent didn't suit Sithy. No, it did not! Sorry to say, but that's Enix's better title, I swear. I don't mean that in a good way either.

More on "MasterX's constant rips on Enix" after some followup from some loyal allies.

...that's boring, and rubbish, and precisely what I said about milking franchises.

Made me laugh out loud, MasterX.

Square-Enix wants to go crazy on every FF? I say, let them go ahead and we'll see what happens. If people want to buy it, they will. If not, they'll ignore it, like I ignored Dirge of Cerberus. The prequel stuff is nice, but I'm PSP-less and Advent Children is probably the only other part of the compilation I'll get my hands on anyway. Square-Enix will keep this up as long as it's profitable.

Everything's driven by money, it seems.
