I hate the sound of my grandmother eating

Before I begin, let me say that I get along well with my grandmother - when she's not eating.

I'm currently at my grandmother's for *insert here* reasons. I sat down on the couch to play my psp, and within seconds of doing so I heard my grandmother sit down at the table to eat her meal. I panicked and dove (literally) for my headphones and frantically began trying to plug them into my handheld. I was too late. Those horrid noises began and my ears bled and my brain turned to mush and my eyes rolled up toward the ceiling. I think my life flashed before my eyes.

She is 80-something. Maybe 84. She slurps her soup with a deafening 'sllllllllllllrrrrrrrrrp' and then smacks her lips, before putting a clump of noodles (or rice if it's not soup) in her mouth and chewing with her gums smacking together.

*slllllllrrrrp* *smack smack* *chap chap chap*

*slllllllrrrrp* *smack smack* *chap chap chap*

*slllllllrrrrp* *smack smack* *chap chap chap*

*slllllllrrrrp* *smack smack* *chap chap chap*

*slllllllrrrrp* *smack smack* *chap chap chap*

*slllllllrrrrp* *smack smack* *chap chap chap*

"OH GOD MAKE IT STOP IT'S TORTURING MEEEEEEEE"

Anyone else hate the sound of slurping and chapping and smacking? It's like nails on a chalkboard - but worse. Exponentially worse. Worse than a seven year old girl whispering 'choopa choopa choop' in your right ear (and I thought THAT was horrible beyond nightmares).

Well I tend to slurp whenever im drinking but, I try to have some manners when i'm around strangers and or/ somewhere fancy etc. But for the most part if i'm at a casual place or around friends I tend to slurp. Same goes for when im chewing gum-- I smack my gum xD.

I'm not too bothered by it though.

I've never really heard too many people slurp as such but I do remember getting grossed out when my dad used to eat.

He used to sniff and sort of make this gross sound with his mouth when he was chewing. It's a bit hard to explain. >.<

He also used to get food caught in his beard. :gonk:

Haha, I couldn't stop laughing reading your post. It sounds like you must really hate it. :) I've never really been annoyed by people eating, possibly because I'm not the politest when I eat neither. I have an awful habit of just speaking it out regardless what I'm doing. I could be sat half way through eating something and if someone says something and I wish to respond I just will, spray food all over. It's a really bad habit of mine, so I'm rarely annoyed by other people's eating habits because I've got no room to talk!

What I do hate is when people eat with their mouths open. (Again, a bit hypocritical of me) but when they just sit there, and you can see everything going on in their mouth... ;_; But I don't really mind people slurping. Sure, if they're doing it constantly and very loudly, I'd be a bit annoyed.

I absolutely hate hearing people eat. Especially when they're eating something crispy or mushy. >.< What makes me even more annoyed is when they're close to me. It honestly makes my ear twitch and makes me want to get away from them as quickly as possible.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone smack their food, but just chewing with their mouth open is enough to drive me nuts.

I tend to suck on my glass when I'm drinking... that's something that annoys my mom. It usually happens when there's only a little bit of drink left in my cup and I'm finishing it. Though I keep my mouth closed when I'm eating and try not to make any noise at all.

Not really a eating thing, but close enough.

I remember a few years back, I was riding with my grandad somewhere. And he kept smacking and licking his lips cause they were chapped. Ten miles and five hundred smacks later, I was ready to open the door down the interstate and throw myself out. But instead, I turned on the radio.

my own dad has a habit of grinding his teeth. the mouth is an amazing tool of torture. forget dripping water and hard-boiled egg suppositories, just make chewing noises to the poor guy...he'll go insane in five minutes flat. i know i would.

It's not so much the eating sounds that annoy me, it's talking with your mouth full. CLOSE YOUR GODDAMNED GOB AND CHEW :rage: I can see the crap in your mouth, and let me tell ya somethin' - it's NOT pretty ... Besides, people choke when they talk while eating. I would pretend to care for a person's well-being just so that they would shut up. It puts me off eating if I see food in someone else's mouth. GUH! :gasp:
